  1. Misreading a post about the Mandalorian battle pack gave me an idea for a new set: Midichlorian battle pack!
  2. @sed6 @SteamSewnEmpire Thanks! Here are a few shots of various parts of the layout, starting with the locomotive. It has its own topic here. A flatbed wagon with an antique car: A wagon full of coal (the residents of my Christmas village must be on the naughty list!): And a brake van to round out the rolling stock: The station holds a 9v battery to power the lights. The switch is accessible from the back. The maintenance shop also features lighting: The level crossing is based on those seen on rural British lines. And finally, the controller. When friends who have young children visit, the kids have a tendency to run the motor at top speed and change direction suddenly. To preserve my only Lego speed regulator, I made a simpler version out of a gutted smoke detector and a light switch. One speed, one direction, on/off control powered by a 9v battery. Presenting the "Frankenstein" controller! Thanks for looking and merry Christmas! Soli Deo Gloria
  3. @Max_Bricks Thanks! I'll be sure to post updates and more detailed shots soon!
  4. Thanks!
  5. The Empire's secret weapon!
  6. Just a quick clip of my first annual Christmas tree layout...I can't wait to explain to my family that they aren't getting any presents because I emptied my wallet ballasting the track! Soli Deo Gloria
  7. Great topic idea! And yes, I would recommend still using spoiler tags for those of us who browse the "all activity" page.
  8. Ok, might as well get started: Here's a steam tractor dragging a freshly cut spruce tree through a snow-covered field. It's loosely inspired by @ScotNick's excellent traction engine. I never realized how yellowed my white plates were until now! I can't wait to see everyone's builds!
  9. Yep, they've even done that (although in a Star Wars set): https://brickset.com/sets/75222-1/Betrayal-at-Cloud-City
  10. Looking good! I like the use of the barrels as cylinders and the wood in the tender.
  11. Nice consist! Any plans to build it in real bricks?
  12. Thanks to all for the helpful responses!
  13. Probably a dumb question: I occasionally see the text "<insert that tiresome argument>" and I'm not quite sure why it's there. From the context of the topics, I would guess the forum software automatically replaces certain complaints about too many studs? (Which admittedly is a tiresome argument.) Does anyone know for sure?
  14. Having grown up on a farm, I can attest that we don't need no police protection out here...of course I'd love to see Lego produce a "moonshiners vs. revenuers" subtheme!
  15. Beautiful! That's a nice solution for the chimney.
  16. Nice! I like your solution for the transition between the boiler and the firebox.
  17. Just a guess, could it be the same color as some of the parts from 6736 from 2002?
  18. Not sure if it's relevant to this topic or not, but I found it interesting regarding Star Wars' current popularity. My church held a "trunk or treat" last night (for those unfamiliar, it's an outreach event where church members fill their car trunks with candy in the church parking lot so that kids can go trick-or-treating in a safe environment) and had around 300-400 kids come through. I saw a grand total of four Star Wars costumes. Darth Vader, a stormtrooper, Boba Fett, and (surprisingly) K2SO. In contrast, there were scores of Marvel superheroes represented. Star Wars is obviously still one of Lego's top-selling themes, but its minimal representation at this event was striking. (On a lighter note, one kid was dressed as a Nexo Knight! )
  19. I think he's talking about the built-in pin on the black bogie plate, which is getting pricey these days.
  20. @deraven @Littleworlds Thanks!
  21. Hi all, I thought I'd post a couple pictures of this Voyager model that I built about 12 or so years ago - right before my dark ages began. Nothing groundbreaking about the model, but I'm about to take it apart to salvage all my old gray parts! Soli Deo Gloria
  22. Wow! I love how you created such realistic locomotives while keeping the 9v style!
  23. Truly an amazing model! From the topic title, I presume any approaching English knights will be taunted severely!
  24. Back when I built sets, I preferred printed parts to stickers. Now that I pretty much only build MOCs, I often find printed parts an annoyance. Occasionally, I even resort to removing the prints when running short of plain parts.
