  1. Okay, some basic rules: It needs to be an Akiyuki module, where you are sure he designed it. It must have instructions or a digital file for it. For modules where Akiyuki is selling instructions, that requirement is not needed. e.g. @Berthil's Peanut. Or instructions for a module he has done free instructions for: @FernandoQ's "Cars with adaptive cruise control" mod. (He changed the big cog to be a module in its own right.) The mods need to be significant, like the two above. Rather than just making something slightly different, or taller etc. I might create threads for the existing modules, where needed, for mods where mod instructions exist. e.g. Many of the originals either needed fixing or work better with changes. Being able to access those changes in an organised manner would be helpful. I need a 200px wide render of the module. I need a link to a topic about it, created by the original creator. If they have other modules they want to show off, they can stick links to those in their topic. I will be adding links to the main EV3 and GBC train system threads. (A perfect example of where mods really help) I will also add images and links to all the modules Akiyuki has provided free instructions for, or instructions you can buy (This will just be an image and a link to his website article, no direct linking to files). Let me know if some additional rules need adding/changing. (I will be adding all the new stuff below the original post. I kinda want to keep as much of the original one as is, as testament to BlakBirds work. I will need to change a few bits of the original, but I want to keep it to a minimum.)
  2. @9v system For that, I would prefer to create a thread for Other GBC. There is a General Discussion thread, but it doesn't have an organised front page. Again, the front page stuff should be for modules which there are instructions for. e.g. I could put PG52 The Sun on there. I would prefer this thread to be just properly Akiyuki stuff, which has instructions. The big cog one, yes, the other 2 would be better in a separate thread.
  3. @Ethan M What module was it? Yeah, basically if there is an MPD or Instructions for it, that is what wants to go on the front page. I basically want it so someone comes to the first post and from there, can get instructions/digital file of everything which is available currently. Even things like the new robot arm, if anyone does it. For everyone, your best approach is to create a post for the module, then I can link to it. So your post has the links to instructions, any information/images you want to add. It highlights who put the work in and is an ideal place for people to ask questions, post mods etc. for that specific module.
  4. Akiyuki stuff which isn't here already?
  5. Indeed, which is why I think this is the best way forward. I will basically just be updating the front post. Providing links to Train System thread, EV3 thread etc. So people can easily find what they are looking for.
  6. Yeah, just seems more appropriate here in relation to the GBC aspect of it.
  7. Makes me wonder if this has potential for GBC balls:
  8. New module, kinda. I feel a certain pride in the fact that it is rather similar to my mod in regards to stopping balls from loitering around at the back.
  9. I think the tricky but would be getting the incline on the channels within the cubes. Also, LEGO balls may not have enough weight.
  10. As a general rule, Bricks & Pieces is more expensive for standard pieces, due to the prices often being set by the amount of plastic used. If the piece is rare, it can be cheaper on B&P and it is generally cheaper for tiles. It can be a bit random.
  11. You can potentially make it slightly cheaper by going with a colour other than Dark Bluish Grey. That said, the thing is huge. The cost is reflective of that.
  12. Guess we know which compressor he uses now!
  13. Yeah, it doesn't bother me, but it is always nice to see when it is there. I posted it, because it is always nice to see people making these things, especially when it is your own creation.
  14. Your work will be missed. You were the only other person who did the revised Cup-to-Cup module.
  15. Great discovery that the balls fit like that. Works really well!
  16. Spotted out in the wild. Sadly, no credit, other than the name of the module.
  17. @Asekio There aren't techniques unique to GBC really. They are the standard techniques you learn from general Technic building. You may like this channel: You also end up using this a far amount: http://gears.sariel.pl/ To calculate gear ratios. Since a lot of GBC stuff is based on timing, knowing ratios, numbers wise, can be handy.
  18. I like the fact that it basically does what you always wanted, if you are basically doing a LEGO vehicle for funnsies. e.g. whenever i drive a LEGO vehicle around using the remote control, you always wish it could do exactly what this does, but without all the NXT/EV3 stuff which is usually required to perform such a task. The pause doesn't really bother me as it is trying to sort itself out. Gives you a chance to appreciate what it is doing. Bit like 9398, but where you can have both a bit of speed and strength as required. Great work!
  19. Akiyuki used to split it along the lines of the plates. You can see the connector here: You could do something similar with v3.
  20. The cost difference to convert the original MPD to my version is about £50. Nothing exact yet, as I am waiting for parts to turn up to build it. Went with converting the MPD instead of the BlakBird PDF instructions. BlakBird made some changes.
  21. Fascinating development. Of the two yellow slops, one of them is actually connected to the quarter-pipe ramp. This should make things a lot smoother on entry.
  22. I am with @Berthil on this one. People love things like the Ball Factory, but they don't love the price. Kids and adults alike love the circuits at events, but that never really translates into interest outside of events. I would love to see the sales figures for the Akiyuki instructions. That said, most LEGO buyers don't know about BrickLink or buying pieces directly from LEGO, so they just look at GBCs and instructions and think: I don't have the pieces to make that. GBC has never really garnered any love on IDEAs, probably partially because it doesn't have a big enough fan bases to get the ball rolling in the first place, let alone get it over the hill. The most supported, expired one on there with GBC in the title got 762 votes. We still haven't had any love from LEGO in regards to being able to get the original decorated soccer and basket balls. As for good small mechanisms, I like things like this: Or this: Then there is this guy, who basically miniaturized two of Akiyuki modules into nice looking sets: And this: If I was to vote on anything, it would be those. They work nicely, they are small and the amount of pieces isn't that bad. It probably still wouldn't be at a viable price point. That said, it would be nice as an office table ornament. In a way, I like GBC as it has more usability than many official sets. Most of my cranes, cars, trucks etc. which I have bought over the years, live in storage boxes. With GBC, at least I can take them out and show them to visitors. They are always fascinated. That said, it is never a competition. They appeal to a small set of people in terms of building them and have a strong appreciation at events and I hope they inspire kids to get into engineering. He actually added this to LEGO Ideas back in 2014. It got over 8000+ votes. Not sure if it made the 10,000 or not, as the page is no longer there. It is GBC, Rube Goldberg Contraptions and Marble Run all rolled into one. Still didn't make it.
  23. This should about do it. It has lost weight in some areas, gained it in others. Everything is locked solidly into place now, apart from the yellow arrow bit.
