  1. How do people deal with the wonkiness of the wheel on the Fork to Fork module? One of the reasons I dislike wheels, large and small is because the angles of the elements are actually conducive to something that is round. So element are strained and the end result is a non-perfectly round wheel. In the case of Fork to Fork, it can result in the balls not coming off the wheel and the side of the wheel catching at the bottom corners.
  2. One thing which surprises me with Fork to Fork, is that the down ramp goes to the specified 10 stud height for baskets, but the in basket is above 10 studs. I feel as though the standard should be a specific height, rather than "at least".
  3. Many years ago, you used to see the robot arm at GBC events in the US. So someone did end up creating something similar.
  4. The longest HiTechnic one is 90cm https://modernroboticsinc.com/hitechnic-nxt-extended-connector-cable-set
  5. 50cm is the longest official cable LEGO do.
  6. Okay, so I am working on the Fork to Fork module and I am starting to notice some differences to the Akiyuki original. Do we know if anyone got any additional photos from Akiyuki of the back of the wheel wall? In his videos, you can see a pin here, which would make the wheel mechanism behind the wall a lot more secure. It is missing from the instructions.
  7. Some people upload their images to Flickr on here, other upload them to Brick Safe, from there you can link them in posts here. The forum does preview thumbnails automatically. I am guessing the Akiyuki Ball Cleaner NXT program file has stuff which talks to the sensor in it. Can you work anything out from that? You and @Juroen should compare notes!
  8. Congratz! Look forward to seeing the pics!
  9. Yeah, nearly all the parts I buy are studded normal bricks. My collection is almost exclusively Technic and predominantly stud-less.
  10. I am really glad that the train system doesn't float my boat. Sadly, I need to buy EV3 for the ball sorting module :P I love how that operates.
  11. Working on the Ball Factory took a lot of time. Building something like the Catch & Release module only took a few hours. Cost wise, since I use a lot of LEGO I already own, it only cost me £16 in BrickLink bricks. The other modules are no different. I collect all the bits I already own, then order the stuff which is missing.
  12. I will be doing Hockey and Fork to Fork in the coming month. Invisible Lift, Tower and Stuck Ball in the coming year.
  13. Some of the friction with the Ball Factory was due to the instructions being wrong. Changing the dropper to being the correct way round, made a big difference. It is an interesting one though, to feel such smoothness, yet it fails. Is it worth checking the strength of the drive without the machinery attached? e.g. if the wagon seems to be unable to power it, let the wagon dock and feel with your fingers if it is unusually weak for some reason?
  14. When you run it with your finger, are you going at the same speed it would normally run at?
  15. Yeah, I downloaded the Ball Factory vids and it helped a lot. I have spent more time looking at them in VLC than I care to remember. Even using video software to try and get the clearest frame captures. @Juroen I would email Akiyuki and see if he has it. I am amazed at the progress you have made! Well done! Remember to take internal photos. The sort of ones where you will never get the view again without disassembling it. Oh and link your post in this thread, so show you are serious about what you are doing. People are far more receptive to such things when they can see that someone has already put in a lot of work. @rskamen You really need to get yourself a BrickSafe account so we can see better sized images.
  16. He has done his mini-circuit: I quite like the wheel design. Amazed I hadn't thought about something like that myself, since I have a bunch of that piece.
  17. The best way to order official LEGO balls is via a LUG bulk order it seems. The price difference between that and Bricks and Pieces is huge. You can currently get orange ones from Bricks and Pieces. https://www.lego.com/en-us/service/replacementparts/sale Just use element/design number: 72824 UK price is £0.90, which is over a dollar per ball, so not cheap. LEGO tends to close Bricks and Pieces down over Christmas. I am amazed it is still open now to be honest, so if you are going down that route, buy soon.
  18. It seems that AWS re:Invent (2018 in Vegas) had some LEGO GBC action: Seems like they were big on basic bricks and Technic bricks. I get the feeling that they wanted everything to be new, rather than copying identically existing stuff. The only exception being the Akiyuki ZigZag which is very noticeable. The spiral lifts are interesting.
  19. Does anyone have the Akiyuki Bucket-wheel Tower running smoothly? I haven't built it yet, but I plan to. My worry is, every video I see of it running, other than the one in Akiyuki's video, has it running far from smooth. I think this is @Frequenzberater video and you can see it wobbling a bit here: I have seen it far worse at various events. Anyone know what it is struggling with?
  20. @sawyer klegr Spotted out in the wild!
  21. Yeah, I am running it at full speed for testing purposes. The Ball Factory is the same, some parts of it behave very differently at different speeds.
  22. I also now know why Akiyuki added a ratchet to force it to only go in one direction. At a reasonable speed, especially with the changes I have made, in the direction opposite to what is allowed, there is a far greater chance of the balls being flung back into the machinery. The difference between one direction and the other is quite pronounced.
  23. I like the thinking behind this.
  24. I am not a big fan of ball pumps, but I love the motion of the balls as they go round the bowl. I can see this being a really popular module at events! Great work.
