[MOC] MIKE'S BIKES / ICE CREAM PARLOUR (Modular Building)
Johnny1360 replied to ReplicaOfLife's topic in LEGO Town
Looks great, good job on cramming in so much in such small space. I did get confused for a minute with apartment on the first floor, here in the US the ground floor is considered the first floor. I am just getting started on creating my own buildings, all my stuff looks so plain and not very stylish, unlike your MOCs, thanks for sharing.- 15 replies

I have not tried it on LEGO but have used it on other things and I would assume it's perfectly safe on pretty much any surface, food grade mineral oil. I have noticed though it gets a bit sticky after some time but it can be easily cleaned off and reapplied. People have actually totally submerged computer components in the stuff for cooling, it is also used as a laxative by some and many candies are coated with the stuff. I got it at the pharmacy, very inexpensive. I have also used petroleum jelly to water proof ship model hulls, where the driveshaft for the prop goes thru the hull. Doesn't seem to have adverse effects on plastic or rubber. I remember my dad coating his spear gun rubber bands with it before going spear fishing too. This was in the sixties though, so now they probably have some special stuff for that. Not sure either but if it says %100 silicone spray are you saying it still has acetone in it?

Yeah if it didn't have the tool box I might actually be able to afford it. Color vomit, moot point, it's here to stay get used to it.

Don't know why they wouldn't just use a universal joint there and a few Technic pieces, probably trying to keep their usage to a minimum so it would be more brick built, Creator style, less complaining about it being too much Technic. Sort of, although surely it could be better. Basically just a nicer way of saying "put up or shut up".

I agree, there are a few inconsistencies but it is much closer than I had originally thought. I would like to see someone do a better job, even without the gadgets.

Thanks that's the answer I was looking for, so for now I will just stick with the regular box with rechargeable batteries, since I already have a boat load for my bicycle lights, if I need a little more power I usually stick in some fresh alkaline batteries. No need for me to shell out the bucks for the LEGO rechargeable box, at this time, to many sets I want instead. Also thinking about Power Up and new options that it might include, I would rather invest in the future. Basically still in my infancy, set wise, since coming out of my dark age less than 3 years ago. Sorry for the Thread Jack, just seemed like a good time to find out about something I always wondered about, without starting a new topic. Glad my thinking was correct for a change.

Maybe support the arm under the drum at both ends mounted on turntables, then the whole arm can just rotate the drum into an upside down position.

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
Johnny1360 replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
I felt the same and also got it for half price and I have to say I thought it was a really good build, glad I didn't miss out. If nothing else it has some very good parts like two large turntables, printed canopy and many black plates, tons of other good stuff too. -
Not sure but it looks like a 1x1 plate red with clip, to me anyway. I did just try it and it does work similar to a universal joint, a little bit loose though.

You could do a little call-out with some kind of bent or broken piece pictured or something similar. Or you could post a picture of said assembly and ask advice from the many talented builders here, who knows there may be a better way you just don't see.

42079 - Heavy Duty Forklift
Johnny1360 replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yes, thanks for the list, that actually is a fair bit of Dark Blue, will be glad to get them. -
Looks like the ejector seat is activated with rubber bands, what a shame there is no figure to actually eject. Funny too I thought for a minute that was the driver side seat. Looks like the headlight machine-gun thing is a counter weight activated by the gearshift. Sure hope the shredder actually functions as well.

42079 - Heavy Duty Forklift
Johnny1360 replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Doesn't look like much Dark Blue, the Ocean Explorer has lots of Dark Blue though, if you don't have it yet. That was the main reason I picked it up, didn't stay together for long. -
I guess I will have to secretly buy this and tell nobody. I actually kind of like the hideous beast.

Creator Expert Cars - Rumors, Discussion, and Speculation
Johnny1360 replied to SheldonF's topic in Special LEGO Themes
It looks like some old Russian cold war era vehicle to me, doesn't really matter though don't have any Creator Expert cars yet anyway, certainly won't be starting with this one though, yuck phoughy. Edit: actually I am starting to like it a little more, even if it isn't an very good representation, I hate when this happens. -

Not sure what you mean by turns backwards, looks to steer as most fork lifts do. Edit: nevermind I see you mean reversed. -
Holy moly that thing really dwarfs the EW160E, puts it into perspective for me. Is that with the boom fully extended?

Marvel Superheroes 2018 - Set Discussion
Johnny1360 replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Funny everybody is raving on how much they like this set, I see it and say crud more mechs two in one set none the less, I literally have an army of mechs and don't really want any more. I do understand there are people out there though that love mechs and just can't get enough of them and that's cool. Hopefully they are really good ones, since I will probably get this set anyway.- 3,962 replies

Technic General Discussion
Johnny1360 replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It could be a safety feature, to keep from choking little Johnny or lopping his fingers off. -
Pretty impressive lifting capacity, the multi colored pieces seem to be covered as well. Like that turntable configuration too, like to see how it is all held together though. I have several of those toeball pieces as well even though I can't for the life of me remember which sets they came from.

Hard to say without knowing what it's use will be, alternately you could use two half bushs, I think that would give you a little more resistance.- 5,509 replies

Amazing is right, I can't even imagine trying to tackle something like this, very cool to look at. I do wonder why, with such attention to detail though the tread pattern on the tires is opposite on the left from right. Something wonky seems to be going on with that right side rear swingarm as well, the chain has excessive slack and it appears to be bending away from center. Makes me wonder about the connections and overall fragility of the model. Does look great though for sure. -
I did ask, not accusing you of anything, please don't be offended, it was intended as a lighthearted comment.
