Unbelievable, they even use your photos, asking a pretty high price too, with no electronics especially. This sort of thing is so discouraging, mainly because there seems to be nothing you can do and so many other people have no clue what they are buying into.

I would be interested in seeing what you have accomplished, unfortunately the link thingy does not seem to work. -
Bricklink's Stud.io Instruction Maker not working
Johnny1360 replied to mobiletranslator's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Hi and welcome to the forum, not much I can say to help out yor specific problem but I would suggest checking out the Digital LEGO; Tools, Techniques and Projects page. Even if your question has not been answered, you will get more attention in that particular forum than here in the General LEGO discussion. Good luck with your project -

What an amazing project, must be very proud to have it finished, I know I have enjoyed watching this thread for the last few years. Congratulations on completing, what to me would be a once in a lifetime project. Do you have plans to ever display publicly? I can only imagine how much time I could spend checking out all the fine details. Again a big hats off to you sir, for a most excellent building experience Any idea of parts count?- 74 replies

What hinge would be best for weight-bearing?
Johnny1360 replied to jp-ls's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Hmm, looks very much like a zero or no overlay cabinet door hinge, that I use at work. Will be very interesting to see where this goes, good luck. -
Icons Chevrolet Corvette 2023 Rumour

One example would be 10271, the Fiat 500, they managed to actually taper the front and back so the sides aren't just flat and also managed to capture the curvey shapes quite well, without just rounding off the corners. Although it isn't perfect they did manage to make it true to the real car's shape and it looks good without the stickers to boot. -

Certainly not trying to justify the high price but to me the electronic components alone are worth that much, not saying I am even going to buy this set either but I am going to check out a few reviews before I make a final decision. Also will be interested to see how easy it will be to extend the boom to a slightly more realistic scale. It is definitely a high price to pay for LEGO and if I do buy it, I want to be sure of my decision. And then there is me, I feel like such a specialized piece is long overdue and will be glad to get my hands on a few, I just hope they won't be hard to get or worse, ridiculously expensive. -

Johnny1360 replied to Classic_Spaceman's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Oh man, seems a bit harsh but my first impression is, they took a classic, curvey, sexy hot rod and turned it into a flat-faced, block, with rounded corners. I do not think this set does anything for the real car and I am quite disappointed. I can only hope after some time and closer examination, I will change my mind but after my disappointment with the Camaro, I have my doubts. I do like the windscreen though. Do we have a price yet? -
Holy cow, this is quite remarkable, as others have said. Really impressive, don't even know where to start, exemplary work. I have now made it my life's goal to see this in person, hopefully it doesn't get disassembled anytime soon. Thanks

I believe that would be Technic pin with friction ridge lengthwise and pin hole. And while it is indispensable I personally have problems with it.

Big Blue was my first Technic set ever, coming out of a prolonged dark age, so I feel I have come full circle. While I like this set, I do think it quite ridiculous looking, having all those extra booms, jibs and rigging, for such a relatively short main mast. Hopefully it won't be hard to reconfigure, to make it look a little more like it should. It was a bit problematic extending the main boom on big blue more than just one segment. -

Johnny1360 replied to keymaker's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I actually replaced the new ones from 42156 with the older double bevel ones, made for a much smoother operation, it seemed that, for me anyway, they meshed too tightly, once the front end clips onto the chassis, bracing the other side of the gears. -
The Love for Printed Pieces Thread/Sticker Resentment Thread
Johnny1360 replied to danth's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I like the idea of having a list of sticker free sets, with prints exclusively. Two recent sets I've built that fit the bill. 75347 TIE Bomber 625pcs 75348 Mandalorian Fang Fighter vs TIE Interceptor 957pcs Both really good builds with decent printed pieces. One thing that drives me crazy with stickers, not that it happens often, mostly with the round stickers is when the print isn't perfectly centered on the vinyl, it just makes it that much harder to correctly install on the part.- 183 replies

Congratulations, sounds like it was great fun, sorry about not making the podium. I have often wondered how one would go about starting up something like this, unfortunately for me I cannot find even one single person interested in such a competition anywhere even close to me, must travel many miles. Glad to see it was a success and better luck next year.

So I liked your change, enough so to attempt implementing it on my own set. Unfortunately it seems to be a little bit hard for me to figure out exactly, lol. Any chance you have a couple more pictures to help me out, mostly it is in the area of the stickered piece, which is replaced with ?

I can see them, so not sure what's going on. I do like what you have done and think it looks pretty good to be honest, I do think the gun piece looks cool as an exhaust but it does seem overly large, big enough for small pets and children to crawl into, which just makes the whole section look quite bulbous.

Right on thanks, nice solution but I think that steering rack could be improved on a bit. I get it though, it can be tough finding a decent solution with limited parts. Thanks -

Looks good, I would be interested in seeing how you worked out the suspension, considering the set only comes with only 2 huge shock absorbers. -

Cool, thanks for the informative response, I do think it looks a bit better after your update. Regarding those bearings bowing the piece, I can see where that could cause some issues down the line, so I will avoid using them, thanks. As far as the pneumatic suspension, that is an interesting concept, that I will investigate further, may adapt it for my own use even, if I can round up all the spare parts. Looking forward to your next project, enjoy.

Jurassic Park/World 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
Johnny1360 replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
New dinosaurs are great always look forward to getting them, however I am very disappointed with the sets themselves, they are all the same dino, jeep and a bit of foliage. At least in the past we got trucks, planes, helicopters, all terrain vehicles, even motorcycles. A little more variety would have been nice, then there's the visitor center with no vehicle at all. And of course the tiresome price argument, seriously the 211 piece Dilophosaurus chase for $20 is about what you would expect but then we have the 281 piece Triceratops Research set at $50, so $30 more for a slightly larger Dino and 70 extra, rather smallish pieces. -
That steering action seems to change drastically from it's low position to it's high position, how's the handling? It also seems like those pneumatic cylinders are more for ride height adjustment rather than working suspension, is that correct? It does look like some fun to drive and while not exactly my cup of tea, I would like to see more LEGO elements used where possible.
