  1. I wish you the best of luck for your settlement, but this is just hilarious!
  2. Is there anything to watch, or are people again discussing "something somewhere"? It would be nice to follow the discussion, but... linkplz? Ignore this. I hope it is fake.
  3. I know my pubs, and that is a quality establishment! The colours chosen work together well, I love the dark green and reddish brown combo! The interiors construction is great, same for the windows and the stairs. The minifigs and all those different scenes depicted really bring the room to life. All in all an awesome build! Having an inn as the very first building in a settlement shows your prioirities...
  4. There is an excellent PC game series doing just that: Anno 1602/1503/1701/1404 (I think that is the correct order). It even uses the same historic context as BotBS, with way more options.
  5. The idea of some sort of income from ships in the port is good. Just take care in properly balancing it. Something like "2DB per shiplevel" is already a lot, considering that a mere ten ship levels would yield more than most large (!) properties. Maybe "Crew" is a more sensible indicator to use. In either case it should provide some sort of profit for the settlement in question, just not too much.
  6. Eh, I missed this one. Funny little build! It catches the spirit of the scene, and the variety in characters is cool. I like it a lot.
  7. Mordo stroked his chin. "My dear Lady Mesabi, you surprise me. I consider your response not as demands, but as excellent suggestions. As long as my absence is not forced on me, we have an agreement on the first point! On the topic of transport and export by ship I actually want to go even further than what you ask for. Not one, but two ships are en route to Mesabi Landing as we speak. This was supposed to be a surprise, but I take it as a good sign that you made me reveal it so soon. I have recently... acquired some vessels, which will arrive soon. One is a small transport ship, perfect for the transport of goods both between Argentia and Cascadia, as well as to ports nearby. The other one is quite a bit bigger, properly armed and will be an excellent asset for both trade and - if necessary - war. I think we have an agreement. The last word is up to you, but I raise my glass to a profitable future! Joe, we need some more!" OOC, additions bolded: I think the WTC will shortly have a new member.
  8. Nice microbuild. The way the door/gate is done is something I have to remember - very cool!
  9. Looking nice. I would love to see it from some more angles, including "from above". I would also appreciate some details on how you did the palmleave roof - maybe some pictures of it taken apart in one section so the construction becomes clear. Thanks in advance!
  10. If you had not said anything, the very last thing I would have thought about was "lack of available bricks". I actually wonder if I could not build the same scenes with my full collection... Nice builds, good story. Well done!
  11. That map is awesome. I just now noticed that it also shows the expedition route - well done!
  12. Negotiations in the Blue Dragon | Drunknok | Corrington
  13. It was a sunny day in Mesabi Landing. The "Blue Dragon" was full of customers. The first (and currently only) tavern in town was named after its signature drink, the vilest massacre of brain cells in drinkable form outside of Charlatan Bay. It also served some excellent - i.e. actually drinkable - rum and beer. Behind the main building was, among more seating under palmtree shadow, a small swimming pool - a favourite among the locals! Inside it was full house. Any new guests would be seated by Barney, the bouncer crab. The bartender and owner, Joe, was busy serving the crowd. Meanwhile, standing outside was Mordo, waiting to meet Lady Mesabi as arranged last week. She arrived on horse, as usual accompanied by her trusted WTC Marines. "Greeting m' Lady. I fear the locality is quite crowded. Maybe we should meet again at another time or place?" "Let me handle that..." she replied, kicking in the front door and firing a pistol - where did she hide that a moment ago? - in the air and shouting: "OUT OF HERE, ALL OF YA! Barry, you can stay. Joe: some of your finest for me, some of your worst for my guest. Then: OUUUTTT!!!!" Another shot, and shortly afterwards the room was cleared. The WTC Marines guarded the doors, one already eying the drinks left behind by the shocked guests (one of whom even leaving his pants behind). "With that out of the way: speak. What is it you want to discuss with me?" "Expect a wall of text now..." "So first things first: this is not about stroking each others ego. I believe we will be better off supporting each other, and I guess you will be of the same opinion soon. Having said that: I would like to join the WTC, but have a few demands in return. As you know, I have invested in quite a few plantations around Mesabi Landing already, and plan to continue to do so. Surprisingly many plants thrive on this rocky piece of Megabloks. Soon the results of an experiment of mine should be in, and we could be sitting on a profitable monopoly then! But there is more! I have learned of a species of lice that gives the finest carmine available, and it grows on some sort of cacti which are abundant on Argentia. I have hired an expert on the matter, arriving soon. Corrington would pay good money for our carmine, I am sure. This is wehre the problems start. See, we would have the colour, but lack the cloth to dye it with. For all the things that grow here: cotton is not among them. And think about other profitable plants. We tried to grow Cannabis and Kath here, without success - and those come with great profits, and customers tend to return for more soon!" Lady Mesabi angrily interrupted Mordo: "Maybe you are retarded, but why do you tell me all that in advance? Why should I not just shoot you right here, right now, and do all of that myself?" "Because you care about profit, and there is no profit in shooting me. On top of that: I have the expertise needed, and the funds. Do you? All I need is land to build on and a partner to secure my investments. The WTC can provide both." "And what do you want in return?" "Nothing spectacular really. The exclusive rights to build plantations on Argentia for starters. A title would be nice, maybe "Supreme Landlord Of Argentia" - something subtle. We spoke about cotton and other plants that can not be grown here - I plan to start a settlement close to here on Cascadia. Everything I mentioned should grow well there. I want you to stay out of my business over there. The same way you and your Count can always have the last word on everything here on Argentia, I want complete reign over anything I am up to on Cascadia. So what do you say?" ======================================================================================================= A medium sized tavern (i.e. artisan) for Mesabi Landing. @Mesabi: please license this build for the settlement. The yield is of course all yours. Also to @Mesabi: the negotiations are not done yet. I have sent you some more info in a PM, and would appreciate a IC reply in this thread.
  14. That is a fine ship, and a great addition to the Crowns proud fleet! The only things I do not like are due to LDD - those "brickbuilt" sails and flags that would never work, or the hovering boat at the back. The rest is done really well, especially the hull curvature.
  15. I could not find a build with working pictures, but by accident stumbled across this: Quinnsville on Youtube Very cool, and I am now even sadder that @Tomsche has seemingly gone silent.
  16. A good attempt for you first boat. Unlinke others, I do like the hull. It might be unrealistic, but it looks good to me, and gives the ship some mass and "visual impact". The lack of sail(s) is weird - how is it moving at the moment? I would add some for sure. My last point would be the bowsprit: it is just too fat. You could use either the premade mast parts (as for main mast), or things like the 1x1 round bricks you also used for the railing. Adding a sailor with navigational gear is great, and I love the guy eating an apple with a knife.
  17. Does that mean I will never get to know which of my "experimental plants" (Stevia, Agave) is the rumoured 'sweetest fruit' on Argentia?
  18. Nice! Moneys, even nicer! Again, thank you @Capt Wolf for the great minichallenge. I had good fun with my builds, and hope others did too. Congratulations @Ayrlego for his winning build, and congratz to all of you, it has been a blast!
  19. Just saw this has been fixed. To the techie who did it: thank you!
  20. She ain't pretty, but boy she got a big *ss! Seriously: that is an imposing beast of a ship, and it has to offer quite a few things I like. The ornamentation is done well, and while the stern figure is not the most sophisticated build ever, I like the idea and what you have made with the limited bricks available at university. Plenty of proper cannons is always a plus for me (none in the back though?). I am looking forward to pictures from the inside, especially the two cabins in the rear, as well as the sails. Having that behemoth anchored before Mesabi Landing should make for soem nice story points.
  21. If I were you I would not worry about tags in the thread titles for now. You will get used to it sooner or later, see kaijus post for starters. The first step is to post a thread with your MOC in it - that is all the pictures and story you want to go with it. Then, if you want to participate in the EGS (Economic Games System) part, you need to register your build with the Build Submittal Form. Follow the link and fill out all parts correctly. You should also post a link (and maybe a short comment) in the Monthly Free Build Registration Thread. If you have built something that you want to be a part of a settlement, and get a license for it (i.e. declare it your property so it earns you money in the future), you need to fill out the Property License Transaction Form. It sounds a bit daunting at first, but you will get used to it quickly. I suggest reading the Master Index, and putting all the links above into your browsers bookmarks.
  22. My first entry for the CWW collaboration, and also my entry for the "People along the wagonway" minichallenge. See this thread.
  23. King's Harbour, the local office of the Royal Society of Natural Philospophy. Wilbur Epper II., Undersecretary Of Construction for Cocovia, had chosen this location to adress a group consisting of high-ranking military officers, the admiralty and investors for the Royal Cocovia Wagonway project. "Gentlemen - and lady - I have gathered you today to discuss a matter of utmost importance for the project at hand. As you all know, the construction of the wagonway to Quinnsville is on schedule as we speak. This does not come without cost though, we have lost quite a few brave men to accidents along the way, and the real challenges are still ahead of us. The centre of our fine island of Cocovia is inhabited by the natives of the Poi-Poi. We have established contacts with their elders months ago, treaties were signed, and so far we have not had any trouble with them. I say "so far", because our project has yet to cross their main settlement areas, which is also the reason why you are here today. Remember: this is not our land. We are guest in these lands, and in my opinion we should act like it. I know some members of the military think differently, but I hope after today that will have changed. Let me present to you two diferent options of how this whole project could go, and decide what road you want to go, so to speak. A local artist has depicted both options on the display to my left side. The first option is the way of force. It is the way not few among our leadership think. It is a way of bloodshed, inhumanity and murder. We pass trough the lands of the Poi-Poi, lands they have lived on for generations. In some places it is holy land. Not all of the Poi-Poi elders were happy about our plans to build near their sacred sites of worship, So what if we step too close to one of such sites, perhaps an altar for one of their deities? What if we do not honour their warnings? No side would step back I fear, leading to conflict and possibly war. The Crown would be thrown into a military struggle with an unknown foe. Keep in mind that we have no idea what forces the Poi-Poi could muster if the worst happens. Some of you might be cinficent in our superiour strength - but are you willing to bet the lives of our soldiers on it? The alternative is simple: cooperation is always better than confrontation. What do we have to lose by cooperating with the Poi-Poi? It is their land, they know it inside and out. I say we let them help us, I say we use their knowledge. Maybe our wagonway is some miles longer due to a sacred site here and there - so what? We have the unique chance to bring these people closer to the Crown. If everthing works out, we not only have a safe and solid wagonway, but new allies and guards along the way. We have a representative of the Traders Guild here today: Francis, have you even thought about all the possible new customers? Speaking in the halls of the Royal Society of Natural Sciences: we should take the chances ahead of us. Chances for exploration of this islands treasures in biology, geography and engineering. But most of all we should take the chances offered to us by these people foreign to us. It is my true belief that we can earn as much from the as they can learn from us. The profit is on both sides. Now if you want to further discuss matters: we have arranged for exquisite cookies. May the munching commence!" ======================================================================================================= Oh boy, I need to work on my picture skills. The lightbox helps, but much to learn I still have! The idea of this build is to give two ways the wagonway construction could go concerning the natives. We know how things usually went in our own history, but I would like to believe it can go better here. Some more impressions under the spoiler tag: Overall I am quite happy with this build. Some thing would be done differently with other parts available, but I have to work with what I have. My favourites are the idol, the toy wagon, and the fact that there are flowers and animals on exactly one side of the display - I guess it is pretty obvious which one I prefer. Apart from my first entry for the CWW collaboration, this is also my entry for the " 1. The people along the wagonway" minichallenge. P.S. The RSNP room is not part of the CCW build, and could be licensed as either a small education or a small art&culture build for the settlement of King's Harbour. Whoever is in charge: you have the rights to do so!
  24. The build itself is awesome, I especially love the accessabilty of the lower decks. What I do not like - and that is a matter of personal taste only - are the colours. THe white hull and the lime-green sails just do not work for me. Everything else is topnotch though!
  25. I feel understood. Thank you.
