Thanks! I have a second design in the works, that I consider to be a vast improvement. Pictures will be up tomorrow, if you like the result I could do some "building instructions".

Sea Rats: Sign-up and Discussion, ERA II
Darnok replied to dr_spock's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Just to be open with this, so Sea Rats players know it: the WTC fully supports Mesabis actions, so I am in this as well. I had nothing to do with the actions in question, but will support whatever conclusions are drawn. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Darnok replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Could this thread please just return to civil discussion? -
Aye, love it. Fleshing out a characters backstory is always nice, and you do it very well. I am looking forward to what the Count will find!

Absolutely lovely hull construction, I love how much realism you achieved in this small scale. The figurehead is very cool, and adds a lot of character. I do not like the rigging, but that is just a personal thing. You have obviously put a lot of effort in it, and it shows - it is just not my taste. I do wonder why the rope at the front end has to be so thick? It looks really odd to me. Other than that I am very impressed with the result. Keep your shipyard busy!

This is brilliant! I am a bit too young to have played the first "Castlevania" myself, but still know that this is faithful to the game. Great idea, very well executed!

[Lay-Out - BELUG] Pirates at Brickmania Antwerp 2017
Darnok replied to Maxim I's topic in Pirate MOCs
This is so much to take in, so many awesome things to look at. Wow! I think they were hard to photograph, but are there (many) more pictures of all the buildings and/or land scenes? -
I am a huge fan of the classic Pirates line, and this MOC is both a great build in itself, as well as a hommage to the Lego sets of my early youth. Lots of details to take in, while the overall structure is well layed out and believable. I love it! I am looking forward to that harbour you mentioned, as well as more from you in general. P.S.: You can easily put pictures into your posts by just copying the graphics URL into the post - the picture will automatically be embedded. You can then also change its size in the post per drag&drop.

Ooooh, nice. Very nice indeed! You clearly have put a lot of effort into this, and it shows! All the textures and colours on the front work well, the overall impression is... well, very "Jameston"! The Nexoknight sign is a great detail (something I will incorporate into some of my future builds). The plants on the side (again, very clean and Corrish) add a lot, as does your signature palmtree (). For a short moment I wanted to say "add more structure to the road!", but then I checked the first image again. No, there is no need for more on the ground, since the open space is used well with the cart and the Sepoys - another excellent nod to the location in Jameston. No the inside... lovely again. The minifig placement is good, and the whole place is "alive". I like it a lot. Same for the story, you really have a great humour and writing style. I am already looking forward to the next build and story of yours!

No ill feelings toward anybody. But if somebody has the time to start an initiative like this and then there is no input whatsoever on questions or results on it over four days, I simply take my efforts elsewhere. I just stated some facts and opinions. This was no "tantrum". If I ever have one, you will know. Thanks for the comments. I agree that this one is quite "boxy" in its look, and have made changes to the design for my next version(s).

Way more than two days gone since I have posted the final build, even more since the first WIP shots. No feedback at all? Seriously? Since the Crown shows no support whatsoever, I will withdraw my offer. This gunboat is to be licensed under my own control, the redcoats on board will be... ahem, replaced. The WTC will soon have another ship at its disposal, and some red uniforms on sale, used, with minor blood stains (note for the easily-offended: this is an IC joke). Edit: Now licensed as "WTC Red Fox".

Shipwrights Guild Hall (WIPs, feedback, and advice)
Darnok replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thanks for the critical comments, I appreciate it. I had wished for some input from my fellow Corlander, but it seems Oleon is the only side to have something to say about it. I have made a few changes for my second design, indeed including some more hinges. Pictures tomorrow on Thursday (I am missing some curcial parts for a larger build), I just wanted to let you know in advance. @Maxim I: That is some impressive brickwork, and I can not wait for the finished result! -
Are you not on an AMCRA already? Anyway: best of luck, Mordo will take care of the WTC in the meantime.

[SR - FB 1 Dec 17] Il maestro
Darnok replied to Professor Thaum's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Luvverly, shiny, awesome! Where to start? This is without doubt the most faithful and detailed depiction in Lego of glassworks that I have ever seen. I am not an expert on the field, but do know quite a bit, and this is just done right. The build itself is busy without looking chaotic. There are many things to look at - the oven, the finished pieces, the workbench, and of course the brilliantly done window - but everything still works togethr as one coherent scene. Very well done! The lightbrick adds a lot, without stealing the show. FInally: the plates on the ground are done well too, I love it. If I could change one thing, it would be the walls: they are a bit bland and boring compared to the rest of the build. That is such a minor thing compared to the awesomeness that is the rest though... Excellent MOC, more of this please!- 12 replies

Darnok replied to dr_spock's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Is there a neutral description of this situation available? I would like to form an opinion based on facts, not propaganda - and I considerthe reports from @Bregir as pure propaganda, even as a Corlander. -

The Crown called, and the shipwrights answer! My first gunboat: "What do you mean, you forgot it? How can you forget your oar?" "Must be a new one, eh? High five, and get rowing, we have to work double the load today!" Finally, some more views from different angles: =============================================================================================================== C&C are appreciated. I am not entirely sure, but I should have enough parts to build another one of the same design in different colours, and a third one with minimal BL orders.

The Greatest Pirate Set of all times! THANKS FOR PLAYING
Darnok replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in LEGO Pirates
No real surprises in this round of 16. May I suggest more "fair" pairings for the coming polls? Ship vs. ship, island build vs. island build, etc - basically things in the "same weight class". To me, too many of the previous polls were rather pointless due to an obvious winner paired with something without a chance. Edit: Just noticed one terribly odd thing. Where in the seven Brickhells is the "Black Seas Barracuda"?! Propably THE most iconic Lego ship ever, and not among the last 16? What insanity is this? -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Darnok replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
While I am not a fan of the new Modular, the change about minifig faces is the least of my concerns. People who like it "oldschool" can just change the new heads for old ones, while you are also not forced to use the old heads with previous Modulars. You can even mix them, the horror! -
Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion, Era II
Darnok replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Argh, even more expensive. But they are available only from the "Silent Mary" kit... Still thanks for the inspiration, but I think I will have to pass on these. The WTC can keep up the order in their settlements without help anyway. -

Very nice! The colours chosen work well together, as do the building techniques. The whole thing looks very "composed", which I guess comes from the picture it is inspired by. Do you have a link to said picture?- 11 replies

Ouch, as a gimmick thing these are too expensive for me. Do you have BL codes for the grey versions? -

@Ayrlego: Very cool, I love how many unit builds people come up with. I would like to add some of these to my own collection, so: what torso is that?
