  1. They're not going down in price because of inflation. Has nothing to do with new movies being out. Over time, everything gets more expensive.
  2. Oh, how I miss these days! I was traveling a lot back then to mostly back water towns and the LEGO sets I could find still on the shelf (and usually at significant markdowns...) were incredible. It really fueled my emergence from my Dark Ages.
  3. I don't know that I have ever broken any LEGO piece through normal use. Nor accidental use for that matter.
  4. At first, I was going to answer with a resounding yes, I do hope the bubble bursts. When it does, there will be a flood of MISB sets hitting the market at seriously reduced prices. My LEGO collection, and this hobby, has intrinsic value to me. My love of LEGO, building with LEGO, playing with LEGO with my kids, sharing my hobby with others; this is where the value is to me. The monetary value is nice, but I am not going to sell. I hope to spend countless time with my grand kids building. As others have pointed out, I'd rather see the market even out a little. There are far too many sellers right now on far too many channels, and just as many buyers competing. It is a sellers market, and as a buyer, this is bad for me.
  5. That is really nice. Very unique design. I don't think I've ever seen a build style quite like it.
  6. Ease of tracking movement, and statistics. I loved the Lord of the Rings Tradeable Miniature Game (LotR TMG). The hex bases (and maps) simplified movement. The bases also had dials that tracked special abilities and health. Things like this would be huge.
  7. This is stunning. You have perfectly captured so many great details. Love the AV cart. And the roll up projection screen.
  8. I guarantee you are wrong, but thanks for playing. I'm not a huge "real" castle fan, and I feel LotR had run it's course. My problems with NK are the terrible designs, colors, and the idea. I driving tank castle? A giant mechanical horse? No thanks. And the oversized mini figures. Just terrible. This whole line feels more like Megabloks.
  9. Agreed. Terrible.
  10. A Game of Thrones license would do that nicely.
  11. We used to use LEGO minifigures and set pieces when we played D&D instead of the lead figures. It was easier to build, and easier to reconfigure. But, a part of that, was we all had substantial collections. I think the barrier to entry for something like this for someone just starting out would be very high. As much as I would love to see something like this to flesh out the castle world, I think the RPG world is getting smaller every year, is it not? Just not a big enough market.
  12. Whoa. Good one. I guess you showed me.
  13. Ok. Now I have to see more pictures of that car. It looks like a Corvette.
  14. Bioncle. Easily my most hated LEGO. I don't even consider it LEGO.
  15. My budget is super simple. My LEGO hobby has to fund itself. If I want to buy something, I have to sell something. Super simple. My "family" money is not impacted at all. And I NEVER pay retail for LEGO unless it's an exclusive that I can only get from LEGO.
  16. I have NEVER seen nor heard of a modular going on sale for 50%. I think I was able to get the first few for 20-25% though.
  17. That thing is beautiful. Thanks!
  18. I'd love to get a hold of those 1x2 plates in brown and tan.
  19. This is incredible work. You have captured the look and feel of classic sci-fi perfectly.
  20. These are fantastic! I LOVE that mobile crane.
  21. If I remember correctly, they raised the price on each cup an even $1. This would result in a higher percentage increase on the smaller cup, which would make the price per piece higher as well. Not sure if this increase is enough to make it more expensive than the large cup or not.
  22. I personally do not save boxes, but I love when other people do. For me, if I open a set, it is never going to leave my collection. It's usually broken apart for pieces, or something like the Cafe Corner that will stay as is (with minor improvements!). When I buy collections from people, I can always resell for a LOT more money if the boxes are included!

    Pet peeves?

How are people supposed to know what the company wants us to call it? If I wasn't on these message boards, I would have no clue that TLG wants me to refer to them as LEGO bricks, not Legos. Has it ever been sent out to the public? Have there been ad campaigns? Have they included messages in their sets? I've never seen this actively communicated. So how are people to know? Do you go to the website of every product you buy to see how the company wants you to refer to it as? Along those lines, I think even a lot of AFOLs give into saying Legos when speaking to people not in the know. It's just easier. I would think you'd get tired of fighting the battle; a battle that not even TLG is fighting. Everyone knows what "Legos" are, right, wrong, or indifferent.
  24. If nothing else, I'd love to see more pictures of the cockpit and how that came together. It looks so much better than the 10179 version, and looks correct in scale.
  25. This is the first MOC I have seen that I would pay for the instructions. Truly amazing.
