  1. That's a good option. Thanks! Are there usually decent prices on them? The problem is, I don't always know what's out there or available. I'd love a site where I could browse through images.
  2. Greetings! I was wondering if there is an online repository any where that contains scans of Official Lego stickers/decals that are/were included in sets. I have numerous old ones that I'd like to replace, and there are some that I would just love to have to add to my city. Thanks!
  3. No where near the fig station. An entire PaB section filled with hundreds of chalices. I must say, the staff there are fantastic. They're going to try ordering tiles and tan 1xX bricks for me.
  4. I can get to my local lego store on my lunch break, so I tend to go every week or so if for no other reason to get out of the office for a while. Today's haul netted me large cups of the following: 1x1 dark gray 1x2 dark gray 1x3 dark gray 2x2 dark gray corner bricks 1x4 white arches 1x2 dark palisades This weekend I'm getting started on a couple of modular building MOCs; a pizza shop and a pub. I found out I scored a mistake on the PAB wall last week. I got half a cup of gold chalices. They were for the build a fig station, not the PAB!
  5. This! Totally agree. My time is worth than the extra Lego I might be able to pack into a cup. I tend to buy the stuff you listed. The smaller stuff like that packs pretty tightly on it's own.
  6. First time I saw roofs like that. Truly beautiful work.
  7. Picked up my 2nd and 3rd Musketeers, 2 Vikings, and a Mad Scientist.
  8. Wow. Totally jealous of all those tiles and 1x2 brown palisades. I picked up a large cup of 1x2 tan palisades and another cup of 1x2 dark red bricks last week. May have to make the trip this weekend to see if they have any tiles...
  9. I think this is key. Make sure to move them around periodically while they dry. The bricks especially will want to hold water in the tubes, and can get quite funky smelling if not allowed to dry properly. Let them dry thoroughly!
  10. I placed an order for the Slave 1 on the 3rd, and an order for the Maersk Train on the 4th. Both arrived on the 7th with the ARF. I also orded the MBA sets on the 3rd, and got the shipping notification for my ARF, but he has yet to arrive. Here's hoping for 3 out 3 on my orders! One of the ARFs will go to my 9 year old. He got the results of his latest bench mark assessment test for 3rd grade. 94%! Very proud.
  11. I do miss the flap on the largest sets. It gave you a chance to "ooooh" and "ahhhhhh" at the new pieces inside!
  12. I'll start with my age as a frame of reference here. I'll turn 40 this summer, and IMHO, Lego today is at it's high point for me. The modular city sets are brilliant. Star Wars is amazing for young boys. (My son is 9). My 5 year old daughter LOVES the collectible minifigures, and builds with her brother daily. We go to the Lego store monthly to look and pick up odds and ends. I can't wait for the Cars sets. I already have the Queen Anne's Revenge, and look forward to the Black pearl. Yes, I love my childhood sets like the Galaxy Explorer, and they make me smile every time I see pictures of them. I just think the color palette and parts selections are better today. And the set designs are pretty good, too. The low point? The late 90's when I came out of my Dark Age. Insectoids? Blech. UFO? No thanks. I have an entire bin STUFFED with mostly useless brick junior pieces. The worst part about Lego today? My credit card statements.
  13. Doofus is right. Way to be subtle. At least that guy out in Washington a few years ago went hi-tech with his bogus bar codes.
  14. [quote name='Lasse D' date='05 May 2011 - 01:36 PM' timestamp='1304617016' post='982428'} It i now much easier to see what the picture depicts. What I want to do now is to make this manual process automatic, and a part of how the program makes mosaics. But before I go on, I have to formalize what I did, and I want to ask the community: Do you agree with me that this way of making a mosaic is better than the original? And do you have any other ideas of how to improve mosaic software? Wow. I am very impressed with your results. Great job. This is probably a stupid question, but can you change the orientation of the bricks that comprise the mosaic? For example, you're images show a 1x1 plate stud up. Can it be switched to a simple 1x1 stud out layout?
  15. While I love this set as a whole, I also LOVE the size of these buildings. Lego should certainly entertain the idea of selling more this size at half the price. It seems many pass on these amazing sets because of the high price point. $75 USD would certainly open them up to more AFOLs!
  16. As a father of a 9 year old, I am thrilled by this. Brilliant idea. Only time will tell if the execution is brilliant as well. My son loves to build, and I love to build with him, but his techniques are still very rudimentary. I'm hoping having these instruction manuals in his hand so he can review them at his own pace will help him along. I'm surprised by how critical everyone is of this program. I think it's clear it's geared towards children. What AFOL is going to care about getting a certificate of achievement? Not me. But my 9 year old would be very proud of it. And for six 84 page instruction manuals detailing advanced techniques? That might be worth the money to me as a parent alone. Just because something Lego does is not right for you, does not mean it's not right.
