  1. Finally pulled the trigger on the UCS Slave 1. Have to wait 30 days for it to ship though... :-(
  2. What makes you think this?
  3. Agreed. I'm ok with designing the look & feel of the landscaping I want, but knowing the right parts will be very helpful. Looks like a lot of 1x4, 1x2, and 1x1 plates along with some 2x2 and 2x4 plates.
  4. Perfect! Thank you for the links!
  5. Greetings, I am looking for some advice from all you talented landscapers out there. I want to build a large scale display for all my Winter Village sets this year, and I want to do a snow covered landscape. I have plenty of white plates, slopes, bricks, etc. That's not my issue. My question is, what's the best approach? How do you do your landscaping and contouring? Do you sketch it out? Build by trial and error? I plan to use primary colored (red, yellow, blur, etc.) bricks as supports under things like hills and cover it in white for the most part. Do you use lots of smaller pieces like 1x1, 1x2, 2x2 plates, or do you generally use larger pieces? Thanks! Eric
  6. My take on this is this; LEGO is currently offering double VIP points. Better to get the most bang for your buck and pay as much cash as possible to earn as many VIP points as possible. I only spend VIP points when there are no VIP point promotions going on.
  7. Is it just me, or does this look classic red? Dark red would have been better. Actually, looking at the real building, tan and dark orange would have been even better.
  8. Packaging up some Bricklink orders to send out.
  9. Agreed. Cookies issue. For a company the size of LEGO, you think they could get better web developers and drop the Flash.
  10. Wow. That is a very effective use of color and texture. Brilliant!
  11. Yeah, that lens flare is really nice! Love it. Nice and simple lighting. Well done.
  12. I think every new modular takes the modular line to a new level in terms of detail and build techniques. I've not built them all though to verify. Has any modular released to date been a step back when compared to its predecessors?
  13. Got it! Thanks! This is exactly what I want to do. While recreating it exactly from the movie would be nice, it's more important to me to have it fit within the standard modular framework.
  14. Every night, I go though a portion of my collection to pull parts for my UCS Falcon build. I am confident I will pull 50% - 60% of the pieces from my own bricks before hitting Bricklink.
  15. Most impressive. Your lighting is superb. Care to shed some light on how you did it? (pun intended..)
  16. A couple questions for those of you that have completed this project... 1) I plan to build it per the instructions, and then heavily modify it afterward. Things like adding the interior, the engine mods, etc. Will this work, or should incorporate my mods into the build as I go? 2) There are an awful lot of technic pieces I assume will never be seen. And probably others as well. I'd like to get this in colors that are cheaper than the official model. Does anyone have a list of parts that don't require specific colors? Thanks!
  17. Any chance of getting your LDD files? I just got my LUGbulk order, and a lot of my parts are going into Emmit's apartment building.
  18. I've actually done this for a gentleman in Australia. I charged him a large cup of parts for me for every 4 large cups I bought for him. He ended up buying almost $200 USD in PaB parts that I shipped to him.
  19. For the last day of double VIP points, I picked up Santa's Workshop and the Thanksgiving set. If my points are available later tonight, I might finally pull the trigger on the Slave 1...
  20. Man, love the mods you made. That is beautiful. And I love the use of old grays as well. Gives it the right look and feel, and this is how I will do it as well.
  21. I never got the appeal of it anyway. Just didn't understand it I guess. No loss to me.
  22. White seats in Troy, Michigan, too. I filled two large cups of a bunch of these elements. I can see myself going back for more...
  23. I got the Big Bang set, and my PaB cups, but the were sold out of the Thanksgiving set. I was, however, able to pick up the Halloween set. Thought I missed out of this one. If your store will sell cups of the PaM parts, there is an excellent selection of parts currently!
  24. Wow. This is beautiful. I love the color scheme. Somewhat... mesmerizing...
