Your MOC is filled with fantastic details and Egyptian elements reminiscent of the old theme. Let's see if I can find a picture of the original (much smaller) set... Hi fellas, Happy New Year! I must admit that as a die-hard modular collector over the past 10-12 years, I was pretty unimpressed with this set after seeing pictures on the web. Thought the color scheme seemed way off and just the overall look did not seem right. But... I had the opportunity to see the set at a LEGO store yesterday and must say that it looks a lot better on display. The unique corner design, the garage level with iconic Octan colors and classic garage door, and the light blue windows really pop. Lots of charm and playability with this set. I ended up adding it to my collection.

Evel Knievel goes LEGO Space in this incredible MOC! Slin and sleek, this is something that the old Classic Space logo depicts shooting across the galaxy. Well done!

This is awesome, absolutely awesome. Great idea for a MOC and the detailing is superb. That hull design must have taken a lot of work. Love it!

As I read through your comments in this topic, Aanchir, I can see that you're pretty passionate about the subject. No intent to "mislead" anyone, simply my opinion. Completely disagree with your statement above. Just the fact that the themes you mention continue to flourish despite some believing LEGO should only focus on the kiddie market "holds those pieces together". I believe LEGO has only begun to tap the adult market and as more kiddies replace building LEGO at their friend's house with online video-gaming, the adult market will continue to grow in both revenue and level of importance. The adult market should not be underestimated, especially when many of us have purchased and ended up building the sets on Timmy's wish list. In any case, I appreciate you sharing your comments in which you make some good points. Long Live Classic Space, even for those that don't remember building a brand new Galaxy Explorer on Christmas Day.

I always enjoy reading topics/questions of this kind. In my opinion, not negating the desire for LEGO to appeal to the kiddies, I think it's not that important. There are enough of us AFOL to go out and purchase a theme/series of sets that we enjoy. Take for example Star Wars, who is LEGO's market for classic SW sets? Sure, the younger audience can certainly relate to the recent movies, but who ends up forking out $200-$500 for a large LEGO Star Wars set. Timmy may like them, but Mom & Dad are the ones that opt to buy these big boys that take more space in the living room aside the three game systems. I was not a big LEGO Movie fan and only purchased a few of the figures when initially released, but seeing these Classic Space sets, I might just have to go out and buy one. I can't tell you how excited I was when my neighborhood friend received a 70s Space Cruiser back in the day. I went out and had to have the Command Center. We played for hours. Anything that brings back that nostalgia is awesome. We're a big market with strong opinions and dollars to spend; let your wallet do the talking. LEGO will listen.

Most clever - the mini Enterprise looks most impressive with just a few pieces. Well done!

Interesting question. LEGO really hasn't offered any re-releases in a long time. With LEGO Ideas and all the possibilities for new sets, I think we're more likely to see a new train than one from the past. May get a little picture of one in a Creator Modular but I don't think we'll see a re-release.

I'm not very active these days, but I still choose Eurobricks as my first source for LEGO news. I was disappointed to not find news of the 2019 City and Creator sets on the front page. Nice quality images have been out for several days. In the good ol' days, EB would have front-paged these pictures faster than Quick Draw McGraw. Heading over to Town to see if any are buried in a topic.

Hi Vince, I realize this is an older thread but I'm in the process of building the 1966 Batcave and stumbled upon this thread in looking for reviews of the set and add-ons. I'm loving the Green Hornet car as you've designed it. This would make a fantastic set! Being a big fan of the old TV Batman series, I think it is unfortunate that 76052 was not more desired by LEGO collectors/fans. A series of villain add-ons to supplement the cave would have been awesome. Your Green Hornet build could be the first of a series. In any case, well done and I may post some thoughts about the set once I finish building. I've got the Batmobile and 1st part of the manor complete. I like it so far.

Hi WhiteFang. You put a lot of work into this review for the benefit of EB members - thank you for sharing! I remember the release of the 1st Cloud City, a set I almost purchased. I was in a LEGO store yesterday and the sales staff mentioned that a number of SW fans would be complaining that this set is not more "display worthy" like the Death Star. I think it looks fantastic with mega play value. In fact, I would love to see a Hoth base or cantina in a similar fashion. In fact (little story), back in the late 70s/early 80s (okay, I'm dating myself), when all the kids in the neighborhood were going out and purchasing SW figures, many of us whose parents didn't buy us ships and playsets for Christmas/birthdays, got creative. I remember making our own ships/sets out of cardboard in similar fashion. They were cheesy, but a lot of fun. We would add rooms, and wires with different pieces/parts, and color areas with markers to create something that in our eyes (as kids), looked like this. What fun! Now the whippensnappers don't have to wish/imagine anymore, it's all right here in one complete package. How we would have played with a set like this if we had one back in the day. Wonderful review! So cool WF! I'm really surprised these topics aren't getting more responses. 1990-92, aside from the Caribbean Clipper and a few of the small pirate sets that a friend had bought for me as a gift, I missed out on this wonderful era, esp. the Castle sets. Really a dark age for me, but love looking at the sets from this era. I would end up purchasing a few Legend sets years later to create this little light-up port (Caribbean Clipper and Spanish Ship not pictured but nearby). Hi WhiteFang, I'm loving this walk down Memory Lane. Looking at these catalog images as well as those from your amazing collection certainly brings back memories of my own childhood (although I must admit that I predate the minifigure as we have come to know and love ). This post made me break out the shoebox of old photographs for a few scans (pictured below). Here's one from Christmas of 1977. Although Universal Building Set 404 has just been opened, one might notice the Brick Yard which would be the start of my LEGO City. LEGO Memories 1977 by Western Outlaw, on Flickr Jump forward to 1999 during a reconstruction project that would add Adventurers, Divers, and Outback to some dusty roadplates.
