  1. Now that's one of the best parts of your collection Kyphur. I really enjoy seeing old set restoration projects. Thanks for sharing and it's neat that you continue to update this topic with your progress. I've enjoyed following.
  2. Hi Matthew. I'm glad you took a few minutes to share more about yourself. It's interesting that you had a LEGO train before your model train and quite a span of years between. For me, model trains came first and I always wanted a LEGO Train to add to my big town. They just weren't available here in the US. It's nice to hear that you and your son are enjoying the hobby together (don't worry about the price as these years can never come back). I've got my eye on the Horizon as well but others like Bionicle and Ninjago if you know what I mean. Glad to have you a part of Train Tech. Hope you continue to enjoy it and feel free to share a few pics of you and your son's collection. Have fun! EDIT: and you've got a blue hopper - cool!
  3. Interesting topic Electricsteam. I've never seen trains as you've pictured. That 4th one looks like an engine (or two engines) on wheels.
  4. Not sure how to take that, but I do this to keep the forum from becoming a spam fest/market place and free of the kiddies. As I said before, I encourage you to introduce yourself - that always helps others to get to know you and share your intent in joining a new forum. In any case, I left your topic open in the place that it was posted rather than moving it to our question topic so that you'd know it was still here. I did change the topic title so it doesn't read like an Ebay listing (eg. MISB, etc.). All: please resume normal discussion - thanks.
  5. Peter54: this forum is not intended to sell or advertise your LEGO sets (esp. as this is your first and only post on EB), but as you've asked a more general question(s), I'm going to go ahead and leave your topic rather than close it. There is also a Question Topic in Train Tech for simply asking questions. We have a Buy & Sell forum on EB but you've got to be an established member before doing so. Please see the guidelines. As a brand new member, I'd also recommend you at least introduce yourself in either the "Hello My Name Is" topic or our Train Tech Registry if you are a train fan as this is your first post. In regard to your question, you can always check Ebay or BrickLink to get an idea of your set's value.
  6. Go ahead and start one and I'll take a look.
  7. Hi Electricsteam: Welcome to EB's Train Tech forum. I'm the forum moderator around these parts and also a big fan of steam locomotives. Feel free to share a picture of any of your 2-4-0 locomotives or future creations. Hope you enjoy the forum. -TB
  8. Hi Oddjob. Welcome to EB's Train Tech forum. Sounds like you've got a nice collection of some fine sets. Good luck finding an Emerald - it's a great train!
  9. Hi G. Welcome to the Train Tech forum. I can completely understand your purchasing strategy. Over the years I've acquired a lot of LEGO that takes a lot of space. I'm at a point now that I too am much more selective in terms of what I buy. The Modulars are some of the best sets designed by LEGO so I've been buying these as well. The Haunted House was my last big set. Make sure you check out the Horizon Express review. It looks pretty sweet as well. Hi Alain - I always admire those that can do "engine work". I'm not one for modifying my bricks and parts, so more power to you. I hope you continue to enjoy the forum.
  10. Welcome Gumpoleon. I have moved your introduction to our Train Tech registry. Hope you enjoy the forum.
  11. This question(s) really belongs in our Question Topic but as there is a discussion, I've left it here in the forum.
  12. Wonderful review MT! Your pictures are crisp and clear adding to the enjoyment of looking at this train in a more detailed manner. I love that windshield piece. It looks like there's some nice elements and initially, I wasn't big on the black & orange color scheme, but seeing it in your review makes it look really nice. Suppose I have to pick one of these up. Very nice! EDIT: Oh, and I love that image with the Emerald and Maersk - a trio of fantastic trains! EDIT: Mostlytechnic: for this fantastic review, I proudly pin the first ever, Eurobricks Train Tech Horizon Express Train Tag.
  13. It's always a pleasure to have a new member join EB and Train Tech. Over the past few weeks, I've noticed one such member contributing to EB in a positive manner by expressing a high level of enthusiasm and sharing interesting comments and topics in the forum. That person is none other than Locomotive Annie (insert train whistle here). Some of the older members of Train Tech have a train tag as part of their avatar for various reasons including contest participation (like Maersk Madness). I was looking through our EB avatar tag vault and came across a train tag which I don't believe was ever shared. Dusting it off , I think it makes the perfect honorary EB Train Tech tag to bestow upon Locomotive Annie for her contributions. So, Annie, if you glance under your avatar, you will now see a shiny new locomotive tag I will call "317". Thanks for being a positive newbie in Train Tech who makes the forum more enjoyable for all.
  14. Excellent Rebelego - enjoyable video. I'm loving the smoke and lights.
  15. Brikel's last post on EB was back in February. See also above. In light of the continued efforts to bump this topic by asking for images, it is now closed.
  16. Hi Annie - these days, I don't find myself reading a whole lot about LEGO Trains (at least in terms of articles/topics related to older set releases), but I honestly find this an interesting topic. I remember shortly after coming out of my dark ages with Wild West, the My Own Train sets were released. I had waited for years for LEGO Trains to be available in the US having never had one as a kid (from the old 12V and blue track era). One day, I got a LEGO catalogue with a bridge and locomotive 317 pictured. I was thrilled and started diligently planning what I would need for a complete set-up. The long engine (in traditional black as you have pictured), green Pullman, red caboose, 9V track, transformer, and light were among my selections. Some of the sets were still in the release phase and the order did not even come as one package waiting for the green wagon and caboose to arrive in the upcoming weeks/months. Eventually, I would have my first LEGO train and a layout worthy of a Wild West town. Let me see, I may have a video... yes, here it is: Big Bad John. LEGO SAH had a really neat application that allowed you to create a combination of trains wagons, choose the background, then speed up and slow down the train (and get the price of your selected train items). In addition, they had a train mystery relating to a train heist as you walked through the green Pullman train cars. This came a bit later but I really enjoyed the story and the graphics. So in summary, I can completely understand your enjoyment as you search out these trains from the 2nd hand markets. Personally, I've always liked the green wagon and caboose the best. There's a review of each if you check the Review Index. I also wish that LEGO would return to their old train roots in offering single cars and wagons. In fact, here's an article on the topic: What Ever Happened to the Single Train Car? In regard to decals, they're really easy. You can try your method or simply create a black square in PowerPoint or photo program with the size you need (based on the 3x4 side panel), print and tape. Photo paper works better if you have a pretty good printer. Here's an example of the result: or even: Good luck with obtaining your trains Annie and I enjoyed reminiscing.
  17. Well done Tearloch. I always enjoy seeing an LDD MOC become a real brick-built creation. Nice job on the front end and the white step design toward the front sides- nice features that add to the MOC.
  18. Moved your question to our LEGO Train Question topic.
  19. Railbricks is one of my personal favorite LEGO publications. The content and articles are of a high quality nature and the builders who feature their MOCs are excellent. I highly encourage any of our train fans to submit an article or two for the cause.
