  1. Efferman, Great steering mod! My only problem is I can't open the file. I have MLCad and Ldraw. Sorry if this is off topic but others may want to know the same. Thanks! EDIT: Found out the program is through Lego. Now to learn how to use it.
  2. I'm a Chevy guy, but this is awesome!!! Just needs a matching trailer so the truck can haul the car.
  3. I thought I would start a funny topic. Last week, I purchased the 8063 Tractor and trailer set off Ebay for parts. The previous owner had the differential backwards, so it did not drive the pto nor the engine. Good thing though, because the engine was built upside down! The pistons would have never moved anyway. There have been a couple other times this has happened. Makes me think of how much we complain the instructions are too easy, yet there are people, who are not used to technic, that have a hard time.
  4. Sorry if this has already been discussed. I mostly collect Technic sets, and I have been storing all the empty boxes in the attic, basement. I'm running out of room for them. So, like the title says, are the boxes worth keeping, or is it a waste of space? Thanks, Glenn
  5. Sariel, I bought a set of tires from Ebay, and posted pictures in another forum, but I'll add them here as well. Vaterra VTR41004 1.9 Interco SS TSL Tire (2) SlickRock I put them on the actual model, and they look awesome! Same dimensions as the unimog tires by within a mm.
  6. I saw the same thing...October. Gonna try my local store tomorrow.
  7. I bought a box full of bionicles for the technic parts, and couldn't disassemble either of the Takanuvas. They look great standing guard with my technic collection.
  8. Look forward every year to seeing the new Technic sets almost a year before they are in store. (sarcasm) Will NOT be watching the 2015 topic. (Not sarcasm)
  9. Here are the pictures as promised. They are a little wider due to the inside diameter a little small. But I like the results.
  10. That's the way Lego should have made it. Looks great efferman! I may have to change mine as well when I get it.
  11. My post #149 talks about the swamper tires I found on Ebay. I'm on the road for work right now. On Friday I will be home and will take pictures of the swamper tires next to the unimog tires. The size difference between the two is within a mm in width and height.
  12. I noticed in Jay Leno's video driving the Tumbler, it is similar to your design. However, the steering pivot on the real car is inside the wheel hub. Lego's pivot is outside the wheel. When will Lego fix this?!
  13. I wonder if there are pictures out there of how the real tumble steers? Maybe that will help in the design for the Lego Tumbler.
  14. One of the changes I plan to do is locate aftermarket irok tires for the rear. So far I can only find them for $20 each! I have 2 Lego Batman sets on Ebay to pay for this, and hopefully enough extra for the new red pickup. :EDIT: Just found these tires on Ebay VTR41004 1.9 Interco SS TSL Tire 2 Slickrock. Only $8.50/pr. And they are within mm of the stock Unimog tires! I'll tale pics once I have the tires on the Tumbler. Might have to wait a couple weeks though.
  15. Thank you for the picture Blakbird! They do look great together. I'll have to get an extra set of the larger tires.
  16. Does anyone that bought the 42029 own the 8297 off-road truck? I'd like to see a side by side comparison. I'm disappointed that the 42029 has smaller tires, so I wonder if the whole truck looks smaller in scale.
  17. Just noticed on USA Lego Shop at Home, all 11 2014 sets are now available. 42030 is on back order until the end of August though.
  18. Lego probably won't ever do this again, but I would love to see a universal set. Instead of 2 models, there would be instructions for 4 or 5 models. They were great back in the day for mocing. Very few specific parts, the rest were generic.
  19. Blackbird, if you take both buckets off, the liebherr cab and body look bigger.
  20. Just opened my box today. I purchased it at my local Lego shop in western NY. It came with one 225 page book. So far I just have the center part built and can't believe its size. Glenn
  21. I am still missing a few parts needed to complete the body work, mostly the new 3l pins with axles. This is an epic build I would recommend anyone building! Only major change I have made is replacing the clutch 24t gears with regular 24t gears. Not much jerking in the drive, but now I can drive it on carpet. Thank you for a great moc and instructions! It was more of a challenge than 1 piece at a time, and I loved every minute of it. Glenn
  22. What are the chances the Lego is watching this and want to make their own version? Maybe the designers of SmartBrick will be paid by Lego for the patent.
  23. Just backed this myself. I was 90% convinced, but after watching Sariel's video, I was 100% convinced it will take rc'ing to the next level.
  24. Blackbird, do you think you could take a picture of the front in a dark setting? I bet those lights really look great!
