[MOC] Corvette C3 Stingray
gmshades replied to Madoca 1977's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Just noticed the impossible #3 red connectors. So, if I were to build this in black, any impossible parts besides the 19l black hose, soft axle? Thanks -
[MOC] Corvette C3 Stingray
gmshades replied to Madoca 1977's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This may be the first moc I make myself. However, 1 of the main parts I do not own is the rechargeable battery box. Would the 88000 AAA battery box be able to handle the car? I was also thinking of making it non rc with a fake motor and transmission. -
[REVIEW] 9396 B-Model
gmshades replied to Blakbird's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I just brought 9396 with me this week to turn into the B Model for something to do. I am also impressed with the model. Although I have to say it will be for sale soon to raise money for the new sets. -
Technic 2H2014 Reviews
gmshades replied to Sariel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'm going to need a loan for all these great sets this year! Thanks for another great review Sariel! -
Hello, For some reason, my first thought was to build a plane. I only have certain panels in black or red, so I went with red. I then decided to create a mini version of the 9394 Plane. Features folding wings, retracting landing gear. Although, I really should be focusing on an insect project, but I figured if another insect wins, these competitions are fixed. Let me know what you think or criticism. Thanks!

Your Best Technic Bargains
gmshades replied to Kumbbl's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Just scored a used 8439 pneumatic front loader for $120 plus shipping on ebay. 3rd time buying it and this time I'm keeping it. First one melted in a fire, 2nd one sold for the newer version. But this version has much more playability. -
I am a technic lego fan. I recently bought lego city sets from the tow truck to a winter house for my Christmas train layout. The directions for technic sets seem much easier with 1-2 piece steps versus 10-20 piece steps that add pieces all over like a hidden object game. So if he can handle city sets, technic will be a breeze.

[HELP] Keeping Axles Tight
gmshades replied to Longhorn's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hard to explain, but is the a 1l space between 2 holes the axle goes through before the wheel? You could put 2 half bushings in the space and it will help hold the axle in place. -
[REVIEW] 8275 Bulldozer
gmshades replied to Ickelpete's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Kumbbl and jantjeuh, In my opinion, the 8275 Bulldozer is a high rated set. Think back to 2006. We were all wishing for new motors, and remote control functions. In 2007, we get both with 8275! I bought 2 sets. One to build, one for parts. Sure, it's a simple set, but to me it still has the best playability. Perfect speed forward/reverse, blade moves decent. To compare it to sets like 8043 is irrelevant. That's like comparing the first cell phone to an iphone. Both have their place in history. -
I agree this is a great set. The attachment to tow other rigs is genius. The 2 complaints I have is that the top of what's showing on the 1 x 12 blue brick should have been tiled, and the crane boom cannot extend. Since I mostly do technic, the crane boom is not a problem. But my next bricklink order will include blue tiles.

My wife works at CVS, and they stock them there as well. It's the new hottest thing for kids, so anywhere there are toys at a store, you'd probably find them.

I know I'm reviving an old topic, but I have been looking for rubber bands in the US to do this. I found using the "Loom Bands" for making rubber band bracelets work perfect! And they only cost a few bucks for a pack of 350 of them. That's enough for the bulldozer and 2 excavators.

[TRIPLE] Gmshades' Entry
gmshades replied to gmshades's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I took the three apart today. Harvester had 457 pcs, the Tractor with both attachments had 640 pcs, and the Dump Truck had 293 pcs. Total of 1390 pcs. Not bad considering I wasn't counting as I went.
