  1. I don't know if it;s been mentioned yet, but on the Toys R Us sight its says the Logging Truck comes with 1308 pcs.
  2. Back in 2003 I bought the gear set 10076 from Lego. I always wondered how to use these 2 gears that came with it: 41666 - Light Gray Technic, Arm 1 x 7 with Gear 9 Tooth Double Bevel Ends 41667 - Light Gray Technic, Arm 2 x 5 with 1/4 Gear 8 Tooth Double Bevel Any insight would be informative. Thanks. (Tried showing pics but can't link off of bricklink.)
  3. I'd like to see a mini pneumatic be able to lift that log. From my experience I don't think its up to the task. Might be an idea to add a large one for main lift, and a small one for the bend and claw and test it out.
  4. I'm jealous. I can't wait to get my hands on this set. I'm guessing around $130 us for it. I think it would be cool to find some toy logs that fit the scale of the truck. Buying extra brown wheels will be too costly.
  5. I don't see it happening. I can't believe they have not received enough complaints about having to go online to get the instructions for the B models. It would be better if they changed instructions and not have 1 new piece for step. They could then have books for both A and B models and still have paper left over. I think they should make paper instruction booklets available for sale outside the box for the A and B model. Maybe like 10% of the cost of the kit for each copy. I know I would rather spend $10 for a book on a B model for a $100 kit than spend time downloading and printing it off.
  6. Has Lego ever had dual diffs on double rear axle trucks? Only time I've ever seen it was on 4x4's, wether it be vehicles or a front loader.
  7. There are also pictures of it on Brickshelf. I can't wait to get my hands on it!
  8. There is a vertical axle that the platform pivots on. It has a worm gear on it for the 24t gear to raise and lower the platform. Its topped off with a yellow half bushing. Hth.
  9. I know this is getting off topic, but I just bought the 8041 set at half price because of the 5 flat panels, v8 motor, rear end components, 10 black 15 long liftarms, and other misc parts you can't get for that price on brickshelf. Back on topic: I'm getting the 9395 for Christmas. Only thing that concerns me is it's not in scale with 8258 8285 etc. I'm hoping to convert it to look like a semi with a tow hitch adaptor that attaches to a fifth wheel. Imo would have been a better set if scaled down to the flatbed 8109 from last year.
  10. And I was getting all excited that I'll get legoes for christmas. Oh well. Just wait til the next sale.
  11. I just found more pictures on the 1H 2012 Technic Sets found on brickshelf: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=486960 Includes alternate pictures: I wish the tow truck was the same scale as the flatbed.
  12. The Log Truck for 120 euros? That HAS to be a US dollar price. Less pieces, smaller motor, and less wheels than the 8258 Crane Truck and that was $150 U.S. new. And to be 4 studs skinnier than 8285, I hope they look good together. I agree its the flagship and a must have, but not for $200 U.S.
  13. Hello fellow AFOL's Just thought I would share a MOC I have been working on. It shares instructions from 8285, 8258, and 8421. Lego Technic 8285 Tow Truck: Sleeper, cab, hood, boom, front frame Lego Technic 8258 Crane Truck: Gearbox, rear axles, rear frame Lego Technic 8421 Mobile Crane: Stabilizers There were many challenges along the way. First, the bottom "frame" of the 8285 and 8258 are on a different plane. Turning the gearbox around so that the crane would come from the backside instead of in front. Also routing axles to operate all the stabilizers. There were a few other things, but these were the major problems I ran into. On with the pictures: Features include: HOG Steering, manual forward/reverse with working pistons. Power Functions: Switch from Air pump (raise/lower main and secondary.) or gearbox (Stabilizers, Boom rotation, raise/lower, and extend.) Any comments or questions welcome. If you want to see a different angle, let me know. Thanks for looking. Glenn
  14. It will be interesting if with modification it could be a small 6-wheel semi-wrecker in scale with the 8285. Other than that I wouldn't have use for something made to a "larger" scale. Maybe its suppose to be in scale with the Unimog?
  15. Even though I'm a Chevy guy, I'd like to have the plans to make the FORD logo.
  16. If it's not a tow model, it's a cherry picker, or a crane.
  17. Well, I bought the set because of the price and that it is in scale with the new flatbed and the cherry picker and the container truck. There are nice features for the price. However, I do have one question for Lego. How many cherry pickers do we need? There's even a cherry picker on the 8289 fire truck. For that reason I gave it a medium rating cause I think Lego can do better than a new "cherry picker of the year."
