  1. In all seriousness, can we please have an update? I'm not trying to rush the judging itself, but I think everyone wants to know what is going on right now. I get that these challenges are free and I'm very thankful that they are held, but I think what everyone is trying to imply in the above posts without being rude is that they want an update. Of course, the main purpose of the challenge is to encourage building and to have fun, but results are also a part of a challenge that cannot be forgotten (or else it wouldn't be a challenge!) Please don't take this post as ungrateful. I'm not mad or even annoyed, and I don't think anyone is; we are just curious. The judging can take as long as it needs, as I know free time is limited for everyone (Just hopefully not 4 years like the Sultan's Gate Challenge ). I also do believe those old challenges should be finished!
  2. I really enjoyed building for this challenge although I could only get one entry done! I loved seeing everyone else's entries, and I'm excited to se the results! By the way, what was the pumkinpie challenge? I searched "pumpkinpie" and couldn't find anything.
  3. Very nice trees! The arches are also great!
  4. Not looking forward to packing my MOCs on a plane... are you going to bring some of your BoBS MOCs? Is there a different thread to talk about conventions, by the way?
  5. Awesome! I haven't signed up for Brickworld yet, but I will soon enough. Hopefully I can see you guys! Have you been to Brickworld before? It will be my first convention.
  6. As a student, I don't have that much time to build at all. I had to stay up super late to get by Challenge V entry in, because my high school is notorious in this area for giving tons of homework. I also have to fund my own hobby, and for that I work as a lifeguard. But I can only work about 4 hours a week with the time restrictions. That being said, I probably won't have anything new until the summer, after Brickworld Chicago, where I plan on displaying my current builds! But I look forward to seeing all the great creations everyone else will come up with!
  7. Thanks Kai! Got to get those "extra points" in the contest with the GoH logo! Thank you, good luck to you as well! Long live Avalonia! Our navy is growing! Glad you like the hull shaping, too. Thanks for the criticism! You are completely correct, as I wanted the ship to look like a complete ship by itself. But I also wanted to make a diorama, so the end result is a bit wonky Thanks, Garmadon! I tried to build the sides in a way that I could fit as much as possible into the ship's interior. Thank you! Glad you like the shaping, it took many, many tries to get right. Tiles are expensive, but I really think ships in particular look better with tiles to get the texture wooden planks would have on a real ship. As for the the comment about the Snyders, I don't think I can be compared to them in any aspect (by the way, their furniture tutorials are top notch). As for the height in the water, I said the same thing to Grover in a comment above, but I wanted to make the ship look good on its own, so the ship in the layout does indeed look way too tall.
  8. Wow, I did not expect that statue teaser to lead to a gate! Amazing, as usual.
  9. With his new ship The Spirit of Eryos, Prince Kevin the Navigator can finally live up to his name as a Navigator! He has set sail in search of new land, and is currently navigating through a cluster of tiny islands seemingly inhabited by Monkeys. Bartholomeus, his new apprentice, is travelling with him. Wow, I don't know how I managed to finish this in time for the challenge deadline! The image quality is not great, as it was rushed. I also don't have a different colored backdrop, so the sails are hard to see. Sorry! The only non-LEGO parts are the sails, which are craft foam with designs done by markers. The ship most closely resembles a carrack, although instead of a third mast I connected the back sail to the main mast. The ship has some rigging and a full interior. The hardest part about the build was probably making sure there were no gaps in the shaping of the front of the hull, as well as making the entire hull bow in just slightly.
  10. In the countryside of Avalonia lies an old statue. Nobody knows when it was built or who built it, or even who it commemorates. This is my 5th freebuild, which means I can finally enter the 5th anniverary challenge! It was a bit rushed, but I didn't want to make something just so I can say I have 5 freebuilds, so I still wanted to build to the best of my ability. The design is quite simple, but I like how it turned out!
  11. Just finished my cat. C entry, and pictures will be up in about 8 hours!
  12. Wow, there is so much going on at once! My favorite part is the balcony incorporated to the rockwork. The roof of the Smaug head building is really well done! The same can be said about almost everything here. Finally, my criticism is the windmill. Even though it is called "dragonslayer," using Smaug's wings makes it look too...alive
  13. Awesome Figs! My favorites are the Hunter and Captain Serbrahad Al Ibrazar
  14. When I first saw the LEGO Angry Birds ship set, I though the sails on there were pretty much useless, but you seem to have incorporated them seamlessly! The overall shaping seems kinda blocky, but I guess there isn't much you can do about that on such a small scale.
  15. I saw this question in the thread, but don't think it was answered: Are we allowed to make our own sails? I always assumed so, because the rules just say no 3rd party (although I've seen some custom minifig items for Cat. B) but does making a sail out of paper count? Just asking because all I need to do at this point is put sails and rigging, and I planned my ship so that I would have to make my own sails to fit the mast. Asking this sorta late because seeing everyone else's entries so far, all of them have official sails... Still need to grind out that 5th freebuild, too! I guess schoolwork is being placed on the back burner this week!
  16. I saw this on Flickr a while back; glad to finally see it on GoH! I am super impressed with the shaping of the hull, especially since it is your first try at a ship! Im trying to finish one myself for the challenge, and I think shaping is definately the hardest part. But you seem to have mastered it already
  17. Wow, for once I can't think of anything to improve upon... I actually think the walls are great, giving it a unique style of architecture that is appropriate given that this is a newly discovered place. Excellent work!
  18. I really like the way that the interior of the ship is located underwater, this is a realistic detail. Good shaping overall, especially the front, but I think the back of the ship is a bit too square.
  19. The barrel is indeed very effective, but my favorite part is that fence! Excellent technique!
  20. Wow that is huge! and very detailed as well! I really like the main bridge. But is there a reason why technic bricks are exposed on the rock wall?
  21. The tower design and the vegetation are awesome! Personally, though, I would've put the largest round tower forward a bit so it connects with the wall better, instead of having a gap.
  22. I like how you connected the leaf pieces! I don't think I've seen that before.
  23. Seems like a cozy place to live in, even though it is very snowy! This is an all-around great build, and my favorite part is just how realistic the snowscaping is.
