I'd love to see either the Creator Three-In-One line or the Creator Expert subtheme give us any kind of British Tank Engine, because if the Thomas the Tank Engine franchise is forever off limits to Lego for certain reasons, I'd gratefully welcome a generically-inspired set of such as a compromise!

Ideas for new Lego themes! (Non-licensed)
Digger of Bricks replied to The lego fan's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Here's a "bullet point" summary of a few of the many ideas I've had over these past couple years for further in-house Adventurers and Space lines (the two playtheme genres I wish the most to make a comeback as far as future original themes go): Adventurers Dieselpulp & Sky-Fi (think Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow & Crimson Skies in premise, with a focus on hypothetical Dieselpunk technologies) Vernian Adventurers (think Jules Verne's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea & Journey to the Center of the Earth in premise and period setting, with a similar focus on hypothetical Victorian Steampunk technologies) Modern Adventurers (think the Tomb Raider & Uncharted videogame franchises as examples of such) Literary Notables, Assemble! (think League of Extraordinary Gentlemen in premise and period setting, centered around an assembly of protagonists based upon/inspired after Victorian/Edwardian-Era literary characters united against a common enemy) H.P. Lovecraft's Adventurers (think LEGO's Monster Fighters theme meets Lovecraftian RPGs such as Cthulhu: Death May Die in premise, Jazz Age period setting, and Noir/Decopunk tone) Space Raypunk Space Opera (quite simply, think Flash Gordon & Buck Rogers in premise and '30s-era Pulp tone) The Final Frontier (think Star Trek & Lost in Space in exploration-based premise and '60s-era tone; or, put another way, an Atompunk Adventurers theme in Space) Space Miners (think LEGO's Power Miners, but in Space, except a little more explicitly defined as such compared to LEGO's earlier Rock Raiders theme) Friends in Space! (i.e. a Minidoll-based Space theme for girls specifically, perhaps similar in tone to LEGO's Elves as one way of approach) Sword and Planet (see Wiki's article on such, with Edgar Rice Burroughs' John Carter of Mars being the most prime example of the genre) Space Racers (as the name suggests, it's LEGO's old Racers theme, but in SPACE!) -
They definitely keep giving us further hairpieces that could be recolored for Anime/Manga archetypes, yet with many of these new molds, they just don't see life beyond their initial purpose more often than not...

Though I initially thought it was Syndrome's hairpiece recolored, looks like this Overwatch character Junkrat has an all-new hairpiece of his own: Brickset - 75977 Junkrat & Roadhog

Anyone want to talk about the Mars Mission Sets?
Digger of Bricks replied to LegoDW's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I'm not a big fan of super hero movies...but damn. I might have to get that just for the MOC potential. I look at those parts and see new "Bluetron" themed spaceships. Also this might get me over my dislike of trans orange. So, looks we're getting at least one more Endgame set this November that'll be continuing this color scheme, by giving us a Trans-Light Orange recolor of 11289! I stayed up and found it for you... Listen from 1:30:00 onwards for a few mins. It wasn't pick a brick it was "grab bags". He talks about similar things throughout so I recommend listening to the whole thing. Thanks!!! According to @Rockstaremcee over in the Minifig customisation forum, he saw this in shield form in the Build-a-Minifigure section of a lego store. Here it is on Bricklink. I didn't even notice this the first time I saw it, but this shield is the same mold utilized by S13's Egyptian Warrior and S15's Frightening Knight (part no. 18836).

Lego City 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion
Digger of Bricks replied to TheArturro's topic in LEGO Town
I think this is a space set that I'm going to have to get used to. Personally, I like the 2015 launch pad better. Though I think there is space in my town for this. Here's JANGBRiCKS' newly-posted review of 60229 too for those interested: -
Yes, and it's quite interesting. I'm not in a place to provide info at the moment but essentially, Lego were to release some licensed NBA sets and they actually made it to some stores in the US. Short version...they got told to pull them after the licensing agreement hit a bump and ended up pouring the bricks into pick a brick. The boxes were scrapped. It's only known about because people were finding unknown pieces in stores. MandRproductions Bricks 'n' Bits series had a former store employee on once that elaborated on this. If not specifically, do you remember approximately when that all happened year-wise?

The Brick Fan - LEGO Ideas Medieval Blacksmith Achieves 10,000 Supporters Pretty swooshy, though it's admittedly a little too much Bright Blue and hardly enough Light Bluish Grey for my own tastes in Classic Spaceship MOCs; but hey, any day's a good day when someone submits a SPACESHIP!!! to LEGO Ideas! Shortly after LAN announced this initiative, digging around, I found two job listings for such through a general search that have since been removed (anticipating such, I saved them both beforehand as HTML documents), with the job description for one of them (posted back on May 15th) elaborating on the nature of this upcoming endeavor (as of this post, this particular job listing still comes up under a general search for the Lead User Lab): LEGO Careers - OPEN INNOVATION INSIGHTS MANAGER, LEAD USER LAB

What would you like from a Sci-Fi Racing theme?
Digger of Bricks replied to Henchmen4Hire's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Perhaps you're thinking of 5983 Undercover Cruiser? Kinda, though they're somewhat more akin to Podracers in purpose rather than the airplanes/warplane of Sky-Fi. Nonetheless, their Art Deco design inspirations could be make them conveniently slottable under the Dieselpunk/Decopunk tendencies of the Sky-Fi genre, so I'm quite happy with their inclusion under such! If anything, a wide variety of racecraft designs can be reflective of the broad range of personalities their drivers could have, giving kids many different characters they can also attach themselves to if cool racecraft builds weren't enough! -

Digger of Bricks replied to Henchmen4Hire's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
While I know they're awfully specific to this particular anime (but so are podracers to Star Wars), perhaps you should add Vanships from The Last Exile to that list of racing machine archetypes. -
Love that one. Nice goat. Supported. Pssst, now as of this post, the project is only thirty-five supporters away from achieving support!

Future Action and Adventure Themes
Digger of Bricks replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Whenever we may come to see the next successor to Monster Fighters (after Hidden Side, if that counts as such), it'd be kinda cool if such a theme took after Lovecraftian action/adventure RPGs in its style, setting, and premise (granted, it'd be a heavily watered-down take on such). A while ago, I discovered some artwork thru Pinterest for a RPG named Cthulhu: Death May Die that piqued my interest, as I wasn't previously aware Lovecraftian fare could lean towards such pulpy tendencies! In premise, this particular game has a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen-esque cast of heroic investigators (made up of both original characters and historical figures) pitted up against Lovecraftian creatures/entities and their cultist followers, all set during the 1920's. Now, for as intriguing and enticing as that all may sound to me, the main hook was Karl Kopinski's art of the game's protagonists, as I'd LOVE to see a playtheme from Lego with character designs such as these... -
That's more of a movie theme though. Not really a generic theme. Movie licenses though may (or may not) inhibit their in-house, generic counterparts from coexisting alongside each other at times.

Well, Jurassic World isn't just a fantasy theme; more specifically, it's a fantastical exploration theme that has more in common with those in-house themes I mentioned than with "good-vs-evil" saga themes such as Ninjago, Chima, and Nexo Knights. Sure, maybe it is quite likely I'm barking up the wrong tree; but the way I'm seeing it, I don't think it's that much of a stretch to hypothesize that Jurassic World's relation to those themes is what Star Wars' relation to in-house Sci-Fi Space themes may be.
