  1. Well, after all, why limit them to the Creator Expert theme? These sets though still can be designed according to Creator Expert standards. For example, how about a $60-$80 three-in-one set with a British tank engine as the main build (and make it blue, because, why not? ), with maybe other shorter based locomotives such as shunter diesels as alternate builds. Also, it wouldn't be limited to brand stores like D2C sets, giving the set wider customer exposure across the retail environment. And, of course it will sell well, because what kid doesn't like tank engines?
  2. I think something like that could be currently viable, but not as a subtheme of City, but instead for Creator. If done right, it could be a subtheme of three-in-one sets with one to two sets seen per year. Each set's main build would be of a particular type of locomotive, with two alternate builds for cars and/or coaches.
  3. Oh, the post is older than I thought, as I didn't search back further than the twenty-third. Thanks for the link!
  4. Okay, I've checked their website, YouTube channel, and Twitter feed, but with no luck as to finding the particular mention of this.
  5. Excellent work! Those Nexo shields make for great "bat-tering" rams, especially for smaller scaled Batmobile creations.
  6. I was surprised when we did learn we were getting a third year for the theme, and likewise when we learned we were going to see a fourth year. Currently now, I feel comfortable enough to think that the theme is going to stick around for awhile, but that's probably when I'll be proven wrong. Preferably, I'd like to see the Speed Champions theme become a subtheme under a revived Racers theme. That way, Speed Champions always has a better chance of coming back around if the subtheme were to take a few years off to make room for other subthemes.
  7. Oh. Yeah. And only today I was just talking about that particular misfortune.
  8. Yes, but if the setting involves a world where steam combustion hasn't come into being, but clockwork automation is prominent in spite of that, then it would therefore be described as Clockpunk. Here I have posted below Wikipedia's definition: Wikipedia - Cyberpunk Derivatives (Clockpunk)
  9. I never watched the movie, since it was poorly received by critics, but this 2011 adaptation of The Three Musketeers has been described by some as having Clockpunk qualities. Perhaps it could serve as an idea for a theme that sits in this sort of vein. IMDb - The Three Musketeers (2011)
  10. I know about that, but I just don't understand what sort of correlation there would be between a potential successor to Nexo Knights and these rumored new licensed sets said to be slated for summer next year.
  11. What do you mean by that? I don't know if a licensed theme had ever really filled in an in-house theme's shoes, so I don't think either one of those really correlate.
  12. I'll definitely take Space Pirates and/or Steampunk Pirates in any form!
  13. No, there has not yet really been any tangible evidence to confirm that now. You'll have to look back at the recent activity on the 2018 Nexo Knights topic to see how that discussion has come up again.
  14. Hence my namesake, I originally had a portrait of Indiana Jones in minifigure form as my profile picture, since my screen name reflects the fact I spend a lot of time searching local garage sales and Goodwills for used collections of Lego. So technically, that makes me an archaeologist of sorts. Currently though, for the time being, Mr. Retro Space Hero from Series 17 is my profile pic. That figure is one of the best things to happen in Lego for 2017, and currently the best figure to embody the retro futurism of the 1920's and 30's.
  15. Yes, since that's how Lego seems to roll with themes like that now. Definitely agree with you on that direction, but as far as tech goes, I wouldn't mind seeing DaVinci-Punk/Clockpunk technology incorporated into the theme. Taking the theme into the "smartphone app" high tech route again would just be ridiculous.
  16. I know there's a lot of focus on the many different dinosaurs we'll see in these upcoming sets, but I'm somewhat interested to see how the vehicle builds will turn out in these. With 2015's Jurassic World, I wasn't really fond of the uniform blue and white color scheme adopted by the park vehicles; but with this movie, perhaps the armored vehicles seen in the trailer will retain a little more of their muted look and color, maybe with some slight brighter colored accenting to keep them from looking too militaristic. Also, like I mentioned earlier on this topic, I'd like to see a dingier, Trans-Brown recolor of the Gyrosphere. As with minifigures, the attire seen donned by Chris Pratt's character on the island looks to make for a nice figure, particularly for his torso design, with maybe a Dark Brown/Reddish Brown torso depicting his vest and an Earth Blue shirt underneath. I'd wish for dual molded arms, but since they look like they're three quarters rolled up, we'll probably just get plain arms like last time.
  17. I'm not at all saying it would be a bad thing. Actually, I'd be rather interested to see what Lego could cook up with such a theme. But... I know that a hypothetical coinciding of both the thirtieth anniversary of the Pirates theme AND the release of a "big bang" reimagining of it might ruffle a few feathers among the fan community, most likely in the same way Nexo Knights did.
  18. Those were pretty cool to see, especially the last one with the baby. Too bad that scene got cut, since the director stated in the preceding commentary that the clip was instrumental in convincing Jackie Chan to choreograph fight scenes for the movie. Also, that alternate plot previewed in the first shown scene was interesting, but to me, it felt more like something belonging to the TV show, not for a comprehensive, introductory movie intended for audiences not familiar with the source material.
  19. I didn't even think about that part when I initially saw the image.
  20. Given that the sequel has been described as a "Space Action Musical", and that the gang would indeed be venturing upwards out from the basement (into to heavens, so to speak) to rescue Batman from Finn's sister's bedroom, that sounds just about right. It will be interesting to see how the main floor of Finn's house will be portrayed/seen from a minifigure's perspective. This is exactly what I was speculating could be the case less than two weeks ago! Perhaps their appearances could be reflective of voice actresses WB has yet to announce?
  21. If it is indeed portraying a bomber hat, I hope to see it utilized for a new take on the CMF Pilot archetype in the near future.
  22. Over on the 2018 Nexo Knights topic, EB user @Falconfan1414 has told us that the Nexo Knights theme may be drawing to a close, and also that a successor theme will be arriving most likely come January 2019. So it just hit me this morning. What if this potential upcoming "big bang" theme may draw inspiration from the Pirates theme, given 2019 will be the theme's thirtieth anniversary? How would you feel about a "big bang" take on Pirates; and, if you didn't mind the idea, how would you want to see such a theme done and/or not done?
