  1. Well there's certainly nothing wrong with brick heavy sets, and if anything, I'd say they're definitely superior to minifigure based playsets that rely on specialized parts. You see, perhaps this sort of "disjointed anthology-style Fables" theme should be a subtheme of Creator subslotted between "three-in-one" Creator and Creator Expert in age range. It would be very brick heavy, much like three-in-one Creator sets, but with more advanced construction techniques and a more mature color palette, nearing the quality of AFOL creations. This subtheme would be marketed towards older audiences that would otherwise be interested in hobbyist aimed products such as plastic assembly kits.
  2. It could be that neither of their accessories actually belong to them. I can't think of a particular instance of accessory misplacement for leaked figures, but at least heads and/or hairpieces get mixed up all the time.
  3. But it works for the Creator theme, doesn't it?
  4. Hmm, an ingenious concept. You mention Alien Conquest's modern setting, and come to think of it, that theme can be thought of as a subtheme to City of sorts. But still, we do need a City-like outlet for period set genres, and you bring up trains for instance. Where is there a home for steam locomotives within the City theme? The only idea for a set I can think of is perhaps for a railway show.
  5. Presumably, we are expecting only one set based upon the first film, and the only time all four characters we've seen as minifigures so far encounter Raptors was near the end of the movie at the Visitor's Center. But then again, that too is based upon the presumption that this Jurassic Park set will be depicting an actual scene from the movie.
  6. Oh yes, that is inescapably obvious. The thing is, perhaps that trend is reflective of the age of those designers at TLG who develop these themes. If so, we just might be able to project what sort of in-house themes we might see when the next generation of Lego designers come around.
  7. Therefore possible confirmation of a Visitor's Center?
  8. As Chris McKay, director of The Lego Batman Movie put it early last year: I should add that "space" might be referencing the "upstairs" mentioned from the minifigure characters' perspective (a.k.a. The Man Upstairs), as the sequel's plot apparently focuses on rescuing Batman from Finn's sister's room.
  9. It can be a pretty casual, freestyle discussion, where users can talk about creations and Ideas projects they've found and/or admire from around Eurobricks, Flickr, Ideas, and beyond. The weight of the creation scouting wouldn't necessarily lay entirely on the OP of the topic.
  10. Whoa! Full steam ahead! Dang, it's such a joy to see both your Daylight and Dreyfuss locomotives plowing away like that. Incredibly epic! By the way, who made that one streamlined "princess" locomotive and train running the opposite direction of your Dreyfuss and Daylight locomotives?
  11. Well, I don't think that this contest would necessarily be indicative of a new Space theme on the horizon, only perhaps that Lego is aware of our lamentations of the lack thereof. But, it certainly is exciting, and there are a good handful of excellent entries that I hope are considered. I'd like to see what entries may have caught your eye.
  12. That a great varied selection of creations you've gathered there @LegoModularFan! As for the CS themed modular you highlighted, it's quite clever and very well done, but the fusion of those two is a bit too goofy for my taste. Probably my number one favorite modular creation (it sort of stretches that definition) is this one by @RoxYourBlox. By the way, you should perhaps do a "Inspirational Modular Creations" topic, as EB user @danth had created a simlar such discussion for sci-fi MOCs recently.
  13. I'll say, a most spot on caricature of Toby! For that matter, Chris Pratt's Owen Grady for this line is certainly an improvement over the original too.
  14. Well, I checked that one particular Flickr account, and nearly glanced over the figure mistaking it for Mr. Incredible, thank to her donning his hair. But besides that, I'd probably guess we are looking at Elastigirl.
  15. For instance, what I'd hope for from such a theme would be anything within a Retrofuturistic vein, stuff like Steampunk airships, Sky-Fi warplanes, Decopunk steam/diesel locomotives, Raypunk rocketcraft, Dieselpunk exploration vehicles... You know, it would all be possible.
  16. Next to both Dieselpunk and Decopunk, I'd also wish to see a modular with a Hyper-Victorian Steampunk aesthetic, kind of like what @castor-troy has done with his Steampunk Paris layout. Oh yes, here's his year-in-retrospect post showcasing nearly all his cityscape creations.
  17. If anyone is interested in this set from a parts perspective, here's a good review for you. New Elementary - 21313 Ship in a Bottle
  18. The Creator theme, Expert or otherwise, can be thought of this way too. With such a broadly scoped concept, think of all the other possibilities for themes and genres that Lego would've otherwise never have been able to turn into a full blown theme to begin with.
  19. You've defined it better than I certainly did.
  20. Well, it might not necessarily be only a single subtheme a year, but several with only one to three sets per subtheme each year. In a way, think of the DC/Marvel Superheroes and Disney Princess themes, where various characters may see at least one set a year, as opposed to a wave of five sets every four years like the City theme in some cases.
  21. Well it certainly would be of interest to historical fans, much like the Prince of Persia theme had done. Besides, much like the argument I made earlier on this topic for How to Train Your Dragon, would Lego ever have otherwise done an in-house Arabian set theme in this day and age? Beyond the CMF line, Prince of Persia is the best we've seen so far for such a subject, save for some of those 2003 Orient Expedition sets. * * Also, that theme did give us camels and ostriches.
  22. Sure, I suppose like that too, kind of. By forested moon, I guess I had more in mind something of a jungle-like planet resembling Avatar's Pandora, as opposed to a redwood covered moon like Episode VI's Endor. Also, the extraterrestrial invaders would not be human like the explorers are, where the invaders' primary focus was upon conquering that moon until the arrival and intervention of the human explorers. What would be cool about such a Space theme, is that it would feature both good and bad non-humans, good extraterrestrials only being seen once in 2001's Life on Mars theme.
  23. What @MR Swordfish was proposing is a theme made up of various archetypical fantasy subthemes, not one with a set storyline focused upon single group of characters and their ongoing adventures. Instead, it would be a storybook of a theme, covering almost everything and anything, from medieval adventures to intergalactic voyages and everything in between. Much like City, there would be no named characters, only archetypical ones much like those seen in the Collectable Minifigure line.
  24. Yes, I guess that is true regarding remakes. I do wish there were more Disney/Jerry Bruckheimer productions in the pipeline beside more POTC movies, as their last two unsuccessful attempts to recreate the success of that franchise did give us some great Lego sets. But, despite that, I'm crossing my figures for Lego sets based upon Disney's planned Captain Nemo origin story to be directed by Logan director James Mangold. Though it hasn't been announced as canceled, we haven't heard anything about it since its announcement back in early 2016.
