Agreed, after all, the main point of these competitions is to be creative, and to have fun! I haven't really been working on the tail, but I will make sure to build it, and include it in my next update. (which should be in a day or two...)

I know you like feedback, so here's mine... Things I like: Looks great, lots of functions. The big tires make it look like a monster dump-truck! Things that you should change: Doesn't look anything like a Volvo A25f - so you should remove the association with it. Bed of dumper needs more structure - the sides need more height. Photos are a bit grainy - this is caused by a high ISO and low lighting - more light would help.

Looks great in real-life (just as I expected), but I still can't get over the fact that it just looks like a ordinary car...

Quick update... I have started work on the lifting mechanism again, and it seems to work (and fit ) quite well. Here's a video (without tank attached). Also, I will probably be shrinking the engine a bit (most likely to V8), and I may possibly lose the mouth too, but still keep the eyes/headlights. Not to say that I won't try though, as it would be great to have a giant mouth on the tank! Didn't you see this photo:

It's a bit hard to understand you question, but I will try to answer it... It is not possible to program the EV3 with the commander app - it's only used as a remote control. But it is quite easy to program it using a computer running the EV3 program - it's as simple as: Turn motors on -> Wait for light sensor to detect red -> Turn motors off. Also, welcome to Eurobricks!

Land Carrier Khagaan

Three word came to mind when I saw this: WOW, amazing, and... purple?! -
As I said in an earlier post, I removed them, and make the lifting a manual function. The main reason why I decided to do that is because they took up too much space, and weren't quite strong enough to lift the hull anyway. I did want to keep them, but I decided a big engine would be a better ( and cooler) use of the space. I think I should try using them again, but I doubt that it will possible without sacrificing most of size of the engine. I will give it a try tomorrow... Yeah, maybe V12 is a bit overkill for this, but then again, it is meant to be wacky!

Update time! Day 32: Brickstormed some ideas for the revised lifting mechanism, the mouth (with not much success), and the tail. Day 33: Put together the V10 engine (now V12), then tested it, and made a video of it. (because of it's awesome sound!) Day 34: I realized that the engine was too long to fit in the space I had, so I changed the design, and also added two more cylinders! Day 35: Decided to cover the outside of the tracks - to make them look better. (also, do you think it looks a bit like a banana?) Day 36 (today): Built the other side of the tank. (just a mirror of what I had already built) I know I have made some decent progress, because it's starting to get quite heavy!

How to spend US $800 without buying UCS MF
mocbuild101 replied to makoy's topic in General LEGO Discussion
42056 - Porsche 911 GT3 RS - $299.99 - 2704 parts 42043 - Mercedes-Benz Arocs 3245 - $299.99 - 2793 parts 42069 - Extreme Adventure - $179.99 - 2382 parts 42057 - Ultralight Helicopter $19.99 - 199 parts (just to fill the $20 gap) Total: $799.96 - with 8078 parts! (which equals ~ 10c per part) -
Interesting idea, but I need to ask the obvious... What happened to your TC12 entry? Is this the start of it, or have you decided not to enter?

Oh yeah, I didn't think about that... This is why I normally don't design things with LDD... I requires a lot more brain power to ensure real-world compatibility! But... I managed to find a solution! And with hidden parts: The space between the white beams is exactly 5 studs The ends of the axles protruding from outside the white beams are exactly 1 stud (for the grey), and 2 studs (for the black). All parts will fit together perfectly without stress. Also, if you look closely at the first image, you will see that I even managed to mesh the gear with the half-bush! (using LDD's developer mode) I haven't tested this in real-life yet, but I can't see why it wouldn't work!
-
Exactly! The stud on the axle goes into the driving ring extension, then you put on the gear (with teeth), and then the half-bush (with teeth). Then the stop on the axle will compensate for the teeth meshing together... I think... (I think I will try it myself to make sure) (and yes, I made a mistake in LDD - that's why it doesn't show it properly)

Thanks, and I hope I can build it too! What I was thinking, starting at the giant mouth, was a gentle banana-like curve for the hull, which then curves into the scorpion tail (with cannon). It's going to be the CMF banana suit guy: (I should have said that before...) By the way, I think those images might need shrinking, they are quite huge at the moment...
