One of the last updates before finishing this MOC! Almost there... Designed a lock mechanism for the doors. It can be operated from the inside (yellow knob) and outside (doorhandle) of the car: I've also been finishing up on most of the bodywork, with great help of the community on shaping the front end. Thanx guys! And the mandatory pic of the underside, which reveals... nothing, because it is closed with panels : Last things to be done are finishing the front passenger side lights and panelling, finishing the 5th door with licenceplate and handle, and adding some structural improvements directly underneath the bodywork on the front end. I think I will also place a BL order because I am a few pieces short in white to completely finish this build (for now I added them in LBG).

When it comes to MOCs, I'd like to build them full manual. Just gives me more pleasure and adds a challenge of creating proper controls for the mechanics as well.

@NikolayI hadn't seen this MOC before, but what a great build this is! When watching the video my jaw just dropped over all the functions you put in there. Just incredible considering the very limited space you had to use. Best bike MOC I've seen!

[MOC] Wheeled Asphalt Paver
Rudivdk replied to jotta93's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Nice MOC, like people already mentioned not the average type of construction vehicle, but I happen to like unusual subjects. Nice functions also, smart use of the two yellow beacon lights for individual functions. Lowering the screed seems a bit slow though, would it be possible to fit a thin 20t gear in there to speed it up, or will it collide with the superstructure? Would also be cool if the screed blades could be extended individually, instead of both at the same time... But thats nitpicking, this is a great MOC! -
Thanx Erik! This community has certainly been of great help, it really pays off signing up and posting here

Between building the car was exposed to some intense play-sessions with my 4y old son. Indeed it looks like the 24t needs some more bracing The DBG crossblocks are just mock-up for quick attachment. They will be gone in final setup. Thanx! I guess the propeller blades will have to wait, they are better suited for some sports/supercar style vehicle anyway...

Putting the smaller panel seems to do the trick. I will leave it like this for now. Thanx Lipko!
-
@LipkoI just threw some lights in there to get the idea... they can be moved forwards to give a better flow, and maybe need some rearrangement as well. I will work some more on this concept to try and improve it. Nice edit by the way

I've rebuild the front end, this is a rough version of the new look: Old version for easy comparison: Please tell me what you think and which one you like better.

@AkiyamaWataru @Jeroen Ottens thanx for the tips guys! I have some ideas how to change the front end now, will try some tonight
-
Yes that was exactly my doubt also, and the more I tried to fill gaps the more cluttered it got... I think I have to consider redesigning the front end altogether, recreating similar shape with different parts layout. Have to sleep on that...

I have the flexhose on the frontend of the 2l half liftarm and the structural connection on the backend, so that unfortunately won't fit... It also has a bit tot much rally style to it which doesn't feel appropriate on this kind of model. I think I will try to add some brickbuild lights like in the 42056 Porsche front. But thanx for building along with me, much appreciated !!!

Thanx a lot! Building in LDCad is going reasonably well already, but I'll definately keep this in mind when starting with instructions
-
Well the frontend is already pretty much packed... Here is a brighter image: But I might try how the top grille structure with beams will look on bottom grille (although I'd hate to replace the propeller pieces, they are just made for a front grille...), that might make it easier to add some proper lighting to it. Or I have to squeeze something in the bottom corners. I am working on a digital file of this model in LDCad, I might also try instructions, but I am not very experienced with that (maybe someone will be kind enough to help me with that, there are some real specialists on this forum)
-
Thanx both! Headlights are this small intentionally, but I agree that the front needs some more lighting. I'll try to put in some foglights somewhere (but it will be a tight squeeze...).

Quick WIP shot on front end. Shaping proves to be difficult. Tell me what you think... And a shot of the dashboard:

[WIP] Nissan Xterra

Wow, that is one mean (and BIG) truck! Looking very good in DBG with the blue accents. Not the easiest color to build in with the lack of available panels, but you pulled it off -
[MOC] VW Polo R WRC
Rudivdk replied to Nura's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Looks awesome, especially the front end. Sides are a bit cluttered with all the little pieces and colors, but overall shape is still good. Nice job on fitting in all RC stuff together with 4 wheel drive too. I think you did great for a first creation, keep it up! -
@Huaojozu my kids like the green jungle racer the best, it comes with an additional winch. But it is from 2014 or 2015 I think. The hotrod and police interceptor make for some nice roleplaying together. And the 2017 sets come with an additional ramp for jumping. Other than that, they are all quite the same actually...

Hi everyone, time for another update of last few days. I've been tearing up my POC model for the bodywork, and progress is quite good I think. It's finally starting to look like a real car now: I actually put it on the scales to see what it weighs, currently it is at 2,2kgs. Final model will be around 2,5kgs I guess.

Cool build, I like it as it is with the colors. Nice choise of car/type and well implemented with all the functions. As for the name, what about gladIAtor? Fits with the patriotic feel of the colors, and sounds oldschool and badass enough I think. Don't need to explain why the IA is in bold...- 40 replies
