  1. Dunno for sure what parts are rare actually... maybe the Ferrari499 wheelcovers? I've got a bunch of white bushes and white half bushes in there, indeed an 11l (or 12l, I am not sure...) flexaxle in the front and 4x19l flexaxles on the wheelarches. I used DBG engine parts (instead of regular LBG ) with red cilinders, but they are actually near invisible... There are also some less common yellow double pin with bush, and some black bushes and yellow bushes. None of them are particularly rare I think. Some parts I used in very large quantities, depleting my own (not so small) collection, like white 1x2x0,5 liftarms. In a few weeks I hope to have the digital file ready, then I can share a full partslist.
  2. Physical build is finally done! Will take final pictures tomorrow in daylight
  3. I will definately share the digital file. And I already got an offer from @legolijntje to help me out with instructions if I run in trouble there, so I am confident to finish those also. Might take some time though...
  4. Thanx guys! Actually the thing I am most proud of is the structural integrity: when I lift one wheel on a higher surface, there is actually no bending in the chassis, but the opposite wheel suspension is compressed instead. It works for all wheels, so I have achieved my main goal for the chassis. And the whole car weighs in at almost 2,5kg... Will try to make some pics or movie of this... And I will share current state digital file this weekend for all of you that are interested.
  5. True that, although I'd like to know to what constraints sets are being developed (piece count etc.) before I would make this statement myself... But I do feel that some of the smaller sets offer great MOC pieces for a relatively low price. That has to be a positive thing for AFOLs right? And as mentioned before, we havent seen the real models yet. 42069 is biggest example of recent sets that got everyone blown away when fully exposed. Who knows what surprises are still hidden
  6. The two pullbacks have them in black as well, 1 on the red and 2 on the lime as rear spoiler. Those pullbacks are always good parts pack for (smaller) panels. And finally blue panels on rallycar, 2x nr 13 and 2x nr 14 are actually new in blue (given it is "normal" blue...)
  7. Managed to get a look on these, and I must say it looks promising. Rally car has a good vibe, hope it will get some last tweaks to look a bit more smooth. It is a bit too much panels with gaps for my taste. I am afraid though it will rely heavily on stickers for final looks. Looks big enough to have some kind of gearbox, I hope it is not for opening doors and all that. And it doesn't have a winch. Firetruck looks decent, appears most finished of them all. Sailboat is something refreshing. But are those panels or actual sails on it? Or a new shape of panel? Ferry is also nice, but clearly aimed at younger public. Looks to me LEGO is aiming the line-up at youngsters, with easy to build and easy to control functions and recognizable (city theme inspired) looks. I think it is a smart strategy, the few hundreds of AFOLs can't keep the theme alive by themselves. These are actually all sets I would consider buying for kids, and in the end the number of sales make the succes. My personal hopes are on the rallycar and Mack truck.
  8. Are those wheels on the hook loader new in technic line-up? Probably already used in city or creator, but I'm not into those themes... I hope it is regular blue on the compactor, but apart from sprocket doesn't seem like there is any part that is new in blue. At first glance I see no new parts at all... As with current year, more system parts into technic (like the compactor cabin). Good for getting kids from city to technic I guess, but not my cup of tea... As for the Mack truck, judging by the size of the antennas in the silhouette, it doesn't seem very big. I would guess somewhere in the scale of 42008, or even 8071. Definately not 8258 or Arocs scale...
  9. You might wanna check out my current WIP, it has FWD, transversally mounted L4 engine and 5+R gearbox in front. Might not be exactly what you are aiming for (gearbox is not transverse), but it could help you getting started: Space is always an issue with gearboxes in LEGO, but there is a solution for everything...
  10. @Erik Leppen thanx, I'll try the white side pillars in the digital file to see how it looks. As for the gap... IRL the door hangs down a little under its own weight, and the side skirt panel is also a bit angled up towards the rear because of the flexaxle pushing it down in the front. So the gap is less prominent on the real car.
  11. Quick update just to let you all know this project isn't dead. Didn't have much time for physical building lately, but made good progress in LDCad with the digital model. Made some more tweaks mostly on the front end as well. Hope to finish the physical model in another weeks time. Some pics from current LDCad state:
  12. This is great!! But after last year of more than excellent 1:8 scale MOCs, and the AFOL reception of 42056, LEGO has got their work cut out for them. Better be something really good to live up to the expectations that will grow with the speculations... Could this be the rally car that has been mentioned earlier?
  13. All, I received the package from @JDL1967, will try to post some initial testresults this weekend on barcode scanner truck. Thanx Jesse for the very complete package, I can certainly work with this
  14. @JDL1967 I still have the bar code scanner truck assembled on a shelf. It uses flex cables of 5l, 12l and 20l (stud measure). Don't know what size you prepared, but if you have one of the above lengths I can test them in an instant, especially the 12l and 20l as they sit on the outside of the model and are easily reachable. You can send me a PM for address details if you like, or if you do not live to far away I might be able to pick em up at your place...
  15. Thanx, thats the one I meant. Gotta have me those some time too, they are of good size for medium sized mocs.
  16. This is shaping up nicely! And cool license plate in the rear What size are the wheels? Are those from that race truck (dunno the set nr, I think 42051)?
  17. Only had a quick look, will check all details later when I have some more time. But the size of this thing... wtf... And I like your guts of actually taking a seat yourself.
  18. My 42069 came in yesterday (thanx to my wife for buying it for me as a surprise ). Immediately started building in the evening and I must say it is turning out bigger than I thought from pictures. Very pleasing build so far, lots of stuff going on everywhere. I'm at the stage of building the doors, but my kids already started playing with the winch. They just can't resist that rope with hook. Have to find a way to get their attention away from it to continue building now... Has anyone done a (size)comparison with 8297 and 42029? They both seem quite similar in size to me. Will try to do it myself at some point, but both are dismantled and some parts are used in MOCs currently... If scale is equal they would make a fine display trio...
  19. Looks very good and sleek, especially side and rear end. Has a feel of speed to it. Front looks a little 'boxy', but maybe its just because of the wheels protruding outside the wheelarches... Might look better if you where able to lower the bonnet a little, like 1 stud. Nice to see an original color on the seats, yellow is not often used there. And that clamshell bucket used as roofscoop, brilliant!!!
  20. The dumptruck is already great, but that FH16.... There is a lot of technic involved I can see that, but the overall build is almost Model Team/scale modelling style. Very impressive!!
  21. Preventing the box shape was one of my main concerns when adding the panelling. The doors and sideskirts where loosely inspired by BMW (especially the 1series), and yes it looks a bit like sagging in the middle, but intentional. The connectors are there instead of a 7long beam to make it possible to fix a 6l axle in the door hinge. Bottom connector on the door side is fixed in position only by the connector in the top... Not the prettiest solution, but the only possibility I saw possible...
  22. @IA creations good point, will replace them. Now that you mention it, I will see what I can do on some of the blue pins as well. No color vomit on this one
