  1. Nice progress sofar! Funny to see I'm not the only one building two versions of a moc at the same time. General shape is really good, but those b-pillars are always a nightmare to build in LEGO. You could mix in some system parts though, like this or this, and put them on a vertical beam with some halfpins. The vertical beam can help in keeping the structure solid and the curve will be less slanted.
  2. @Aleh this is turning out fantastic. Love the shaping on the truck, and the sheer size of it... Think it will make a great pair with one of lucio switch's trucks, think they are (almost) the same scale?
  3. Excellent review as always @Jim! This is a remarkable set, I was already sold on it after first toyfare pictures, but after seeing this I really can't wait to get my hands on it
  4. Thanx! Its heavy indeed, guess it will end up weighing at least the same as some supercars with PF and BB added... Shall put it on the scales tomorrow just to get an idea... But for me it was all about rigidity, and on studdless technic that is just eating parts (due to limited height on chassis of 3studs, frames where no option). At least the yellow shocks can still handle it .
  5. Forgive me my ignorance, but what set was that? I've got mine from 8435 and 8421. On the finished model (as seen in 3rd post in this topic) I think the wheels and wheel covers are not that bad actually. For the wheel covers it might be possible to do something different, but the actual wheels (tires) are the only available width in this size I think. They are way too wide for a normal family car (and it actually made the build somewhat more difficult when it comes to creating interior space), but with the bodywork attached they are less dominant. And thanx for the compliments
  6. Seems like nothing can stop you, can it? Good progress again, you're flying through this build! Looking at the pics I see lots of tricky connections. And good luck with your leg, hope it gets better soon and without much troubles.
  7. I am back from my vacation, so its time for an update First some videos to give a better answer to @Jeroen Ottens questions two posts back: Video: Folding the seats Video: Rear suspension Now on to current state. The chassis is finished and the roof has been put on. Only the front window frame and dashboard need to be done to finish the entire box structure. The roof is curved and has a small slope in the front and in the rear to give it a smoother look: I tried to give it a glass roof look by using DBG around the actual roof windows. The DBG will actually come up all the way from the front window. In the trunk with all seats upwards there is still some storage space left (the 42056 handbag fits nicely in here). You can also see the two black 12t gears for raising and lowering the 3rd row seats: Most work to be done will be on the front section, as the rear design is almost finished. I'll try to post another update tomorrow with some more bodywork attached.
  8. This is coming along really good! Nice job with the hood, and I like the anniversary brick in the front bumper also.
  9. @ThirdwiggYou could make the dbg 5l beams black and leave the rest lbg. It gives two black stripes on an lbg seat, and it is easy to repeat on any form of backseat design as well. It would also give some sporty feel to the interior.
  10. @Edwin Korstanje I know the company and visited their Leidschendam office once on a business assignment. I've seen the trucks drive around once and awhile as well, you captured it very nicely including the somewhat unusual color combo. Is that building their new HQ?
  11. Maybe @Milan or @Jim can help out?
  12. Wow... I liked reading the intro and backstory already, but when I reached the photo's of the actual build... I had to look twice to recognize it was LEGO... Very very well done, instantly recognizable and as close to the real thing as possible with LEGO I think.
  13. This set cannot steer... it has only 1 motor, so drive forwards and backwards is all that is possible... Not very realistic, but this is how LEGO designed it, probably due to already high weight and friction in this set
  14. I live on the coast so its from border to border... cant get any further I guess I would be interested in finding out how to display something on LEGO World as well, if that is even possible. Would be a good deadline to finish my familycar MOC... Do you have to be a member of some sort of club or something? Before derailing this topic into LEGO World discussion, does it make sense to start a separate topic on that?
  15. @schraubedrin I wasnt aware that it actually mattered for functionality... but I think on a steering axle the non-linearity can be discarded. Still, its a relief that my case isnt only OCD
  16. Well I must say it looks very good without stickers. Think I even like it better without...
  17. Not for functionality of course... But I always allign every bush and even gears and other stuff just for the sake of looks... Call me crazy, but it gives me some satisfaction
  18. @Jim the little "slit" in the bushes of the ujoints are not in the same direction on both ends of the red (steering) axle... One of them should be turned by a quarter rotation
  19. Aahh, good to see another car with more than two doors and seats Looks good sofar, well balanced and I think a good decision to keep it 'simple' when it comes to the gearbox. Will be following this one, keep it up!
  20. Wow, absolutely stunning. Perfect panelling on the outside and all the works on the inside with PF even... Makes me wonder, is there any car/shape you are not able to build...?
  21. @Jeroen Ottens thanx! All seats can be folded without taking anything apart, it all hinges on several places to make that possible. Rear suspension is trailing arm with torsion bar from sheepos mps. It relies on the LEGO ability to bend, so I guess it is actually an illegal build... Will post some better quality pics of it later
  22. A quick update before I am off to a 2week holiday... Photo's are a bit sloppy, had to do it quickly... With rear suspension added, it is now a rolling chassis All seats are in, and like a real family car you can put them in all sorts of arrangements. Here's a closer look at the seating rows Next update will be in a few weeks from now, since I won't be having access to my LEGO during my vacation...
