  1. Doesn't really matter, as long as one of the two gets flipped around. Pick 'the easiest one'. Be sure to thoroughly compare the diffs orientations with the instructions first though. If they are both correct according to the book, your issue might be something else and work would be for nothing...
  2. From the moment @agrof presented his TC18 Hod Rodster I was a fan of it. I had the little bad boy standing on my desk until about a week ago. But every time I looked at it I heard a little voice in the back of my head saying: what if... it wasn't a pullback... and the engine was connected to the rear wheels... and it had actual steering... it would be even better... So I did the only thing I could: I took it apart and redesigned it to feature traditional drive and steering. The exterior is a straight up copy from the original with some added details here and there, the inner works are my own design. Instructions available on Rebrickable. A video is on the way, should be done in a few days. PS: A ride this cool deserves it's own transportation: Coming soon: 'Dirt' small pick-up truck with car trailer. Stay safe... and stay tuned... Cheers!
  3. Nice MOC! TC18 definately spawned a lot of creativity and love for smaller models, and this is a very good example. I think this version looks better than the original, in this scale it appears less 'empty' and 'skeletal' than it's bigger brother. I also like that you included all features in it, proving once again that a model does not need to be big to be interesting.
  4. I thought exactly the same thing when seeing that picture. Actually, there is loads of clever solutions and details in this model to admire. I haven't fully checked this MOC back in March, but looking at it now I have to say that this crane is an excellent and impressive piece of engineering. @suffocation hat's off to you sir! No need to be so self-critical, this is GOOD stuff...!
  5. That black version has a nice apparel, looks real heavy-duty. Somehow it looks bigger in this color. Nice work sofar, looks like you've been able to fully reverse engineer this model! I like the little tweaks and additions too, especially the one-direction switch with the wormgear, way better than a ratchet imho!
  6. So it is confirmed now that the changeover catch switches between manual drum rotation and wheeldriven drum rotation. I wonder if the wheeldriven option has a one-way ratchet in it's drivetrain to prevent unloading while driving backwards. If not, it should be mod no.1...
  7. wow, that is actually pretty pathetic for an official set of presentation photo's. It does add to the overall feel of generally lower quality standards at TLG lately...
  8. Interesting, I guess we use a different setup for the 4speed boxes than... 0.9 was the only proper input difference that would work on mine to have all even speeds fall nicely between the odd speeds. It all ends up pretty close-ratio, but it is mathematically correct.
  9. I hope I never get to see my bricks like that ... nor anyone else for that matter... Nice artwork though
  10. I am working on exactly this setup: 2x 4speed gearbox with a 0,9 difference in input ratio and an OR gate (left/right) between the two gearboxes, mechanically linked and synced with the gearshifters of the two gearboxes. I'm still in doubt whether I'll add an DNR, or omit 1 speed for reverse... It is not finished yet (gears are, shifters not), will post more on it later.
  11. I hope I posted in time to be of help Please let us know how your kid liked it... We might have a future EB Technic member upcoming
  12. Wow, it looks great! I am amazed by how white your wheels are, mine have been discolored darker than tan by now (I bought mine new in 1994...). Did you do anything to make them whiter or are they still just in mint condition after all those years?
  13. @jb70, @Didumos69 you guys are on a roll here!! Beautiful work sofar, looking forward to the final digital model so I can start rebuilding mine. I recently rebuilt 42056 in the pimped version and that works like a charm. Can't wait to have the Lambo running just as smooth...
  14. That's a bummer... It's the same here in the Netherlands, my attick turns hospitable only after 11PM, and lasts until 10AM max... ah well, the hobby can wait a bit
  15. How about set 8294? It's not really big, but a fun set that can also be easily motorized. It is a nice start into these kind of machines. Should not be too expensive to get a secondhand one even with instructions and box...
  16. Wow Clive, looks fantastic!! And what a collection you've got in there... I have my attick room for about 8/9 years now and still haven't managed to get it properly sorted (maybe I buy too much new stuf...), kudo's to you and Gilly for actually just doing it... Enjoy!!
  17. Finished box 1&2 yesterday. Gotta say that the entire build feels very well thought out, definately a step up from the Bugatti in overall refinement. I built it with all vanilla parts, and it seems I am lucky with the tan 20t gears sofar... I am a bit let down by the instruction books print quality though. As mentioned earlier there are a lot of misaligned parts throughout the instructions everywhere, but also there is a very noticable color difference on the cover of book 1 compared to book 2. Like they aknowledge the lime part coloring issue and replicated it in the print ink as well...:
  18. From what I remember you'd have to specify it inside L3pao (ldraw to povray convertor program) or directly inside the povray textwindow. Either way it is not even close to a hotkey...
  19. I thought the same initially, but is has actually also been made in red, DBG, brown, reddish brown, white and yellow! But not in any recent Technic set. Let's not forget that TLG can use any part in any theme... Still, a color swap pack for any set would be a total waste of TLG's time, capacity, storage space and therefore money...
  20. Ah, so that´s why my brain is telling me the front wheels are bigger than the rear wheels.... Indeed, perspective view would be nicer to the eye. Nonetheless, exquisite work so far, looking really good. And Eric @Blakbird, great to see you´re back and active again.
  21. If I would build something like this I'd try to put it upside down in the bottom below the cab and lead the drive axle over it. But let's wait and see, I don't think I can do better than any official designer anyways...
  22. Nice! Looking at the top view I find it hard to believe that the current location of the C+ hub was the only available spot... It's BIG, so much space available...
  23. It just so happens to be that TLG has started selling 'loose' C+ hubs and motors. So who knows we might see the return of 'motorize with set xx' this year too.
  24. "most important is to be excellent to each other and party on dudes!!!!!!" Just gotta say: you put your money where your mouth is! Great to see polite discussions and difference of opinions are still possible!
