Funny thing is that what I had built in my last 1:10 car MOC (wow, it is WIP for a LOOONG time now, need to dust it off and pick up on it again...) has almost the same setup as a Lambo does (but not quite solid enough to pass as LEGO official set in this configuration...). Long arm in the bottom, short arm in the top, caster angle, small kingpin inclination, ackermann geometry, pushrods with bridge at suspension base to 'horizontal' springs: Come on TLG, you can do this better than me...
-
I fear the same, although I think the Lambo suspension is such a trademark for them, it would be weird if they didn't request TLG to include it. Same with the double clutch gearbox on the Porsche and the rear wing-with-key on the Chiron (although they totally screwed the suspension on both those cars, both in reallife accuracy and in plain functionality...). I still have hope until someone smashes it in a review...

Technic 2020 Set Discussion
Rudivdk replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I also see a little white cardboard box, meaning rubber (silicone) bands or rope. Rubber bands are more likely, for a stepper mechanism and/or paddle shifter on the gearbox. At least we can be (almost) sure it will have a gearbox now... -
Sets (For a Relative Newbie)
Rudivdk replied to arieben's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi there, welcome (back)! If you did not already see it, you might want to read up on (the last few pages of) below topic. Lots of tips for some of the better big and small/medium sets in one convenient topic (it's a 13 year old topic with 48 pages of posts, so much of the older posts can be discarded by now...): -
Now that's something else... would be really cool indeed if Technic were to go (should I say back?) to at least some models with pure functionality. I am an absolute car-nut (I MOC-build almost nothing else) but I love some good mechanical stuff which are not your typical run-of-the-mill 4-wheeler as official sets!

There's just too many entries to properly pick a top 6... In the end I decided to first filter based on factual technical aspects (it's a Technic contest after all), and from the filtered list based on looks (which is very subjective and personal taste only). But it doesn't do justice to all other gorgeous builds... Anyway, well done everyone and good luck in voting!

Talking of vomit color : I quickly threw together a color comparison between the two box pics we have of the Lambo on the top, some randomly scavenged pics from lime sets in the middle (taken from various reviews here on EB), and kbalages olive line-up at the bottom. My bet at this point would also be on Lime (or a new shade of lime-ish green? please no ...). I only have some doubts about the huge gloss in the top right box picture. Seems overdone somehow (to much light exposure?)... EDIT: Btw, the use of a rotor blade as side skirt is just sheer genius, I would have NEVER EVER came up with that! Big kudo's to the designer for coming up with this inventive part usage!

Technic 2020 Set Discussion

The panels on the frunk and the rotorblade confirm the findings from the toyfair earlier this year. The wheels are confirmed by Lego themselves in their teaser. So only the wheelarches remain as a 'surprise' new part. I don't think this one is fake (opposed to earlier clone brand leaks)... -
[HELP] Generic Building Help Topic
Rudivdk replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Maybe just a typo on your end, but the vids are from LDCad. Different program, wouldn't want you downloading the wrong one... EDIT: You can get it here by the way: http://www.melkert.net/LDCad, under the 'download' page. Within LDCad there are a number of predefined scripts available (Roland will sometimes add a new one with new releases), which in this case perfectly aligns piston parts if they are placed in the correct starting position relative to the cylinders. So you still have to build the cylinders at their correct angle, put the crankshaft in with all the pistons, piston rods etc, but then the angle is set perfectly by the script. As far as piston placement goes: yes, it's that easy . Same here, I would think that using an objects snap points would make it possible to do what you asked. But I am no programmer either... LDCad has the closest thing I could find in any LEGO CAD program. I wasn't modding on you, just thought you would get better answers over there. But apparently there is less activity in the digital forum than I expected... -
Fiat 125p
Rudivdk replied to Porsche96's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yes, but I even find those to be a little too wide for their height actually. The only other true option would be the super rare wheels of the Model Team Giant Truck 'Black Cat' (just slightly larger than the ones you used). -
[HELP] Generic Building Help Topic
Rudivdk replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Well, I have been using LDCad (created by Roland Melkert) for quite a while now and I am pretty pleased by the possibilities it gives for (manually) manipulating rotation points and angling parts and sub assemblies. Here is a Youtube vid made by Roland himself showing how to easily make angled connections (triangle) starting with straight placed elements (square). I think I have also seen a vid where some sort of object snap was used to achieve this, but can't find it, maybe @roland knows? Check his other vids on LDCad as well, good tutorials. No idea though if this functionality is available in other LEGO CAD programs. You could try posting your question in the LEGO Digital Designer and other digital tools forum to check on that, there are some real expert active over there, including some of the actual program designers. -
[TC18] Ganassi GT Le Mans
Rudivdk replied to MegaRoi's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Ha, so I guessed right about the Ford GT.... To be honest I do not really like the 2016 Ford GT as I feel it has lost it´s personality with that new design and therefore I don´t have that car in my ´grey mass database´ for comparison. But after looking the Ganassi spec up on internet I have to say your rendition is recognizable enough with the most important design features in place and spot on! Good to see that you stuck with it and pushed on to finish it -
Air cooled classic car

Probably adding the frunk cover and making the roof and window edges all red will help in blending the roof in a bit more. -

Looking great sofar Only minor point is that the roof seems a bit tall in side view, like it is 0.5 -1 stud too high... But it could also be weird effect of photo's, not sure... -
Fiat 125p
Rudivdk replied to Porsche96's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Beautiful model. I especially like the scale and the wheels you used. These wheels are almost the only larger LEGO wheels with near-correct proportions (tyre width vs height). Great to see they can very well be used for medium scale cars! -
[TC18] Bullet. The Fourth
Rudivdk replied to ipe4kin's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi @ipe4kin, welcome to Eurobricks! About picture size: You should host your pictures on a hosting site like Flickr or Bricksafe, and then link them here in your topic (and in your contest entry post). See here for more explanation about posting pictures on Eurobricks and some tutorials. Would love to see some bigger pictures of your build, looks good! Have fun around here -
[TC18] Jeep Wrangler JL
Rudivdk replied to ArsMan064's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I would make a simple flat removable roof (Technic panels, maybe System plates+tiles even?) that you could just lay on top of the build, maybe 1 or 2 (axle-)pins to hold it in place. Like the hardtop in my own entry. Don't make it too hard on yourself, simple is sometimes best. -
