No wobbles but I have found it impossible to get them to go up the ramps, they just hit it and essentially it becomes a battering ram being pushed along in front of the speedor.

Yes, all the time. If the wife knows I am going to the LEGO store she will come along and then I have to buy her a Friends set as well so it costs twice as much. Before Friends it was Fire Brigade sets, I mean why are Fire Brigade sets so popular, surely there are only so many firemen a town needs?

I have a seven year old British Long Hair and he really likes boxes. I have several sets I have yet to make up and have to keep them out of his reach otherwise he will try and open them, the little bugger. He has never shown any interest in actual bricks and he knows he is not allowed on my desk where I build my models. His fluff however does not know it is not allowed on my desk and even in winter he sheds enough fluff each day to create a life sized model of himself!! Boxes are certainly his thing, he has even tried to open orders that the delivery guy has just dropped off. He has shown some interest in chasing the trains but only if he is sat on the track and they run into him. Why does he have to sit on the track when he has the whole house to sit anywhere else? Today i am not in his good book as he came in from outside with his paws covered in Oil and had to have a wash, he knew that was going to happen, he waited outside until he thought I had left the room before coming in. It is surprising how strong a fully adult Tom cat can be, especially a huge one like him, I have trouble holding onto him with one hand and washing his paws with the other. Today he twisted around and I lost my grip on him, he slipped on the bottom of the bath though and got drenched, now he thinks it was my fault. When I was a kid we had a rabbit called Rudy. He used to go around my LEGO and pull up the old blue railway track that I had in the 4.5V days. He was in the house a lot of the time and he would take it and hide in behind the chairs. If I was not careful or not paying attention he would stash a huge amount of it there, I would literally come home and find whole circuits of track with just the white 2X8 plates left and all the blue track hidden behind the chairs.

As you can see, i managed to add an avatar at long last. How, not really sure, I had tried on all four of my computers and was getting the same error messages and problems. Then had one break down, got it fixed and returned to factory settings. After resetting everything up it seems to have solved the avatar and posting issues. But only on this one computer, the others still will not let me post stuff through the post button. Must be something on my home network I guess?

That is a good idea. I'd like to see that but for a crossing that is not quite 90 degrees, say more like 45 or even 30 to make the turns shallower. Just out of interest though whilst on the subject, how many of these crossings at 90 degrees actually exist in the real world railways? Does anyone know of any and where they are as I don't recall seeing one myself?

I read that today as well as i was looking at the toy fare for confirmation of the release dates of Galaxy Squad in the UK, (Which i did not find, which surprised me as a LEGO Store staff member told me it was February only a couple of weeks away.) and I saw the write up on the Lone Ranger stuff. It did say that there was a complete circle of track. Ona more personal note I'd prefer it to have some straight track but I won't complain, if it has track it must have railway wheels on the engine and the coach at least. Hopefully they will include instructions for adding Power Functions in the same way they have with the other train sets to date. But whether they do or not I it should not be hard to add one to the tender somehow, at least i hope not.

With a little bit of tweaking it could make a nice delivery truck for the bank security items especially in that black color. I agree that the sides could do with some decoration for the name of the company, logo or something like that. But either way these are a nice set of little trucks which will fit into almost any scenario.

Nice cars, I think most mini-fig scale cars are way to narrow at four studs wide, that does not even give the impression of a car large enough for two figures side by side. At six studs wide these look much more like a proper car. I have supported your project on Cuusoo.

Great Dreadnoughts there, especially that Khorne one, lots of spikes! Looks like it has been to close to a chaos spiky bits spru! So is this blue and white one a Pre-Heresy version of the the Post Heresy one next to it, sort of a before and after?

Really a very good interpretation of my favorite Star Trek series. Just one question and I appreciate it is hard to make in microscale. Is the little ship above the station a runabout or the Defiant? I am guessing Runabout as it looks similar if not the same as the one below.

That's a pretty good wagon there, you don't see many with duckets being modeled nowadays.

Nice engine and I think it will look good in any color so long as it is consistent.

I plan to buy the Hobbit and LOtR sets I have not yet got or come out over the year. I will also get the custom Mini-figures as they are released. I'd like to get the Galaxy Squad sets, but not sure about them, will have to see them close up once they are out. Other than that any CITY trucks or other relevant vehicles. I'd like to get the CITY Mine set simply as I have all the others in the sub theme. Other than that just bricklink for train stuff unless they come out with any new trains. (Have just purchased and built two Horizon Express sets, making one proper train.) Oh that reminds me, I need another battery box for the rear lights. Edit: Forgot, I expect I'll get some Friends sets for the wife as presents as and when as she is into that.

I have made a few smaller two axle wagons in a similar way using CMF bases and have added tiles across the studs. I don't have photos ye, but thy do look better with than without in my opinion and they are not that heavy. Can I ask where the white CMF bases come from? I don't think I have seen them before?

Maybe if female mini-figs were made that way to begin with by now no-one would mind or care and they would have breasts because they always had breasts. But I guess they were not so changing them now would require a lot of updating for existing figures which would be expensive for us all to have to buy these bits.

Interesting portal, it has a certain Necron look to it.

Yes, the palm tree is very good indeed, I like the way the bush is used. The Mech is pretty good with how it is shooting the beach party. Maybe you could do it in red and it would be helpful to the LEGO City fire Department!

There are some more pictures on my flickr pages. At the moment I am trying to get enough track ballasted to go all around the room but there is only enough done for half way so far. I also only have enough masts for half the track, then again the others bits that are done all the time, (The ballasted bits.) are behind the chairs and furniture as it is hard to get to them.

So here is my Horizon Express. I was actually very surprised at how well it ran, but I am going to have to get a second battery box to power the rear lights.

I have that little tan brick in mine and yes I have made it so that the round 1X1 plate is against the technic beam on mine. It simply holds the gears in place. They still jam occasionally but no-where near as much as if it is not there at all.

That does appear to be one of the most steampunk'ish things I've seen for a while.

Very funny, brought a smile to my face.

I have finally got around the problem but it is a very very big squeeze to get it all in. 1: Having the three electric bricks on one side of the IR unit does not work as then the pantograph cannot sit properly and is a weird angle. 2: I had the idea to use the small extension lead to stack the electric bricks (Two from the motors and one from the lights.) under the IR unit. I did this by attaching the small extension lead to the three connectors. It then will fit neatly under the IR unit with just one connector, (The other end of the extension lead.) plugged to the IR Unit. That way the pantograph sits where it is supposed to be. 3: But that does leave an awful lot of wire to go under the battery box and it was impossible to get it to sit flush with the top of the tiles. 4: I removed the two blue handle (Modified tiles.) and the two black cheese bricks from inside as they appeared to serve do functional purpose. 5: I also moved forwards the middle brick in the lighting wire so that it gave more space up front to hide the wires in. It is flush with the level the battery box sits on the floor so does not in itself disrupt the placing of the battery box. 6: That left enough space to mount the motor direction switch behind the drivers chair. 7: it was then a case of trying to bury as much of the wire under the battery box (Without forcing it up.) and the rest under the motor direction switch out of view. It took several goes and I had to dismantle half the locomotive to be able to push it in, but it went in at the end allowing the roof to sit on properly. 8: I would have liked more room as it is very cramped but alas there was no more. I would have liked to switch the way the motor was running by opening the body and re-soldering it but I have no equipment to do that with. 9: I may change it if it does not run well to have the loco at the back powered with the second motor but I will have to get another battery box for that as I only had one going. I think I'll do that as then I can run the rear red lights as well and neither engine will be as crowded. 10: Has anyone else managed to get around the half'ish brick offset between the brick built rear bogie and the actual motor? I have not yet run it on the track so am not sure if it looks odd or is just so small you cannot hardly notice it unless you are looking for it in which case I won't worry too much especially since I am likely to change it later anyway. 11: Those of you who have done it:- A. Will one motor be enough to pull the whole lot as in two engines and four coaches? (I suspect it will on the straight but not around sharp bends. B. Does it work better with two motors in the front or one in the front and one at the back? I know we discussed this a while ago but that was before we had a chance to actually get hold of the train and try it so now we have it what are people's thoughts?

Modifying Power Functions to allow more options
Hrw-Amen replied to sirrobin's topic in LEGO Train Tech
What actually is this Arduino that I hear mentioned on this forum every now and then? I have goggled it and looked at the site but its seems a bit technical in spite of claiming to be for artists and hobbyists. It does not seem to actually tell you what it does in simple terms before launching into tech speak which I guess without a bit of knowledge beforehand one has no idea of understanding?
