That is really good idea. Being a Wargamer also I can understand you using your tables for that, (In fact I have been thinking of using my LEGO City for a Wargames scenario.) it is a pity the flock was turning the speedorzs wheels green, but you have come up with a great solution. A short video of the speedorz in action on the table would be great?

Looks like a nice and tidy idea especially not having to modify any bricks or other parts i can see that this will appeal to many who feel that would be wrong, but in this they do not have to!

These look like a nice selection of box cars in different colors I will have to choose one and make it.

Chima Crocodile Clan Missile Tank.
Hrw-Amen replied to Hrw-Amen's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
As promised I have uploaded the photos of my other Croc Clan Vehicle to Flickr. They are in the same folder as the original one. This new vehicle is not tracked but runs on four of those large olive wheels, the front axle of which is equipped with an large array of rotating blades to chomp its way through any enemy foolish enough to get in the way. The front wheels and blades are mounted on a frame that allows them to pivot up and down so they can cope with awkward terrain. I must admit this was not intentional and just a consequence of the way I built the frame, but as it added to the design I just accepted it. If any enemies escape the whirling blades they come face to face with a similar chomping Croc mouth as the other clan vehicles. Like the tank I originally posted this vehicle comes equipped with twin mounts for Flick Fire Missiles, these can be rotated and raised or lowered as required. Anyway, I hope you like the new vehicle. Here is a link, all the other shots are on flickr as well. http://www.flickr.com/photos/hrw-amen/8440794817/in/set-72157632632449010/ -
Do we have any clues as to what is happening to Space Troopers, last time I looked at the thread it said something about the review not taking place until the summer. Obviously we do not know what the result will be. But in the meantime maybe if everyone who wants a space trooper type project to get through in one form or another I would have thought it could not be a bad thing to support this. I mean the other one already has the number of votes needed so it will not be taking any votes away from it. If TLG get another project in the similar theme through the 10,000 votes it may make them think twice as obviously there is a call for this kind of thing otherwise people would not keep voting for it?

Urgh! Did not notice that was all one part, I nearly bought one of those blue cases yesterday, glad I did not as I would not have been pleased to get such an ugly big part. I do like the inverted tiles that we have been getting recently and have picked a few up from Bricklink as i feel they will be very useful at some point in a MOC. I hope that they are going to appear in various sizes though and not just 2x2 as good as that is there will inevitably be a need at some time for a inverted tile in 1x2 or even 1x1.

A very nice wagon with some interesting cargo pallets inside.

Looks good, very much like the original Faller one you based it on.

It also looks as if the green bricks surrounding the set up have been painted, it does not look like the usual green to me? You can see at the side that the plates are a different color on the side to on top?

They do actually work well together, the Dinosaur colors blend well with the crocs and have a similar (Lots of teeth.) theme going on.

TRAIN TECH Help, General Questions & Talk to the Staff
Hrw-Amen replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Train Tech
So is the red cargo train discontinued now as it is no longer on TLG shop website in the UK under the trains category, I have checked it only moments ago. I thought it was on its way out as the other day it was on sale, then someone said they would be getting more in stock, but now it is gone, not even a 'call to check availability' just not there at all?- 578 replies

Wow that is a lot of crossings, I have never seen one myself, or at least never noticed it. I must keep a look out when on the train.

Chima Crocodile Clan Missile Tank.
Hrw-Amen replied to Hrw-Amen's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I have another Crawley set so will be looking to build a bit larger vehicle with the toothed spinning bits out front soon, I will of course post it when I have finished it. May take a few days and fiddling until I am happy but hopefully I will get some time over the weekend. -
Action Themes Building Drive: Lego City Vice
Hrw-Amen replied to Minoton's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Looks pretty cool to me. Just like the kind of thing one of my old teachers used to drive in the late 70's. -
Nice view of that town plan from 1960, but one observation. It is a bit of a short runway for that plane to take off and miss the railway line immediately in its path isn't it? Have you got a clearer picture only I cannot quite make out if the railway wagons have round wheels or if they are brick built?

I have bought a few of the Chima sets, just to get a flavor for the theme and to see if it was something I was going to like. Basically I decided that the game was not for me, as I cannot get the speedorz to go up the ramps. We have wooden floors and the ramps just get pushed along in front of the speedorz rather than them going up it. So what to do, I have the Crawley Crocodile set which seemed quite interesting to me, I like the way that the tracks swing forwards with the rotating blades. I wish however they had come up with a mechanism for controlling when the track units are swung forwards rather than it just being an automatic as soon as the vehicle moves. I also felt there was some scope to build other vehicles using the bits so I bought another one. I did see in one of the clips on the LEGO site that the Lion army was advancing along a road and they had more than just one of the same vehicle in the convoy.so I am assuming that the name given to the operator of these vehicles is a sort of rank rather than their personal name. (otherwise they would be pretty small armies.) But anyway, I wanted to build a tracked vehcile, I liked the idea of the spinning blades but wanted to take this away from the tracks. I will need to get another set to get some more large wheels and olive green bits for that. Anyway, I went through several rebuilds until I came up with this. I know a lot of people will not like it as it essentially a vehicle for firing flick fire missiles at the enemy. I have though given each missile a bot of CHI power in the form of a 1X1 Trans Light Blue round plate, in order to keep the theme. It also still sports the biting crocodile mouth, although a different design of one as to that of the original.

Bricks cracking... just from being connected to one another?
Hrw-Amen replied to Endgame's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Um, I often eat toast whilst building, must be why I have some 1X1 bricks that have cracks in them, some of them cracked right out of the box and are just like that when they come. Usually it is only a very small hairline fracture that does not deter from its buildability in any way and normally it can be turned around so it is not seen. I've never noticed it on cheese slopes? I'll have to look out for it though as I use a lot of them on my train MOCs. Must remember to not eat toast whilst building!! -
Here in the south of the UK just before Christmas the Hobbit sets were pretty much sold out, LOtR not so much especially the large Helms Deep set. From what I hear the main reason for that seems to be the lack of mini-figs to form a reasonable size battle scene, most people are asking for battle packs for more orcs, Rhoan figures, when they cannot buy them they leave the large sets alone as they are expensive and have little play value without extra figures to go with them.

MOC: Swedish shunter littera V5 with onboard decoupling in the "tw
Hrw-Amen replied to Selander's topic in LEGO Train Tech
A nice pair of locos there. I would also like to add a decoupler to one or more of my shunters, but am not sure how to make them? I have seen on here people use medium PF motor but have not been able to figure out how it is connected mechanism wise. Any detailed instruction would be good. I try to think how do you stop the motor at the right distance etc? -
Um, I have read through this three times now and I still do not know what it is you are talking about? I get the impression that you want to build some extra scenes to go with your LOtR sets and are asking if there are creator sets available to o this, is this the correct interpretation? If so then I am not sure that the creator sets have a large number of LBG, DBG or black bricks in them, you may be better off getting what you want from TLG's online PAB facility or from Bricklink. If this is not what you mean then I am sorry for getting the wrong end of the stick.

Ever found a piece that doesn't belong in a set?
Hrw-Amen replied to Sir Walter Maugham's topic in General LEGO Discussion
When I had finished building my Horizon Express I had eight 2X4 black bricks left over among a few little odds and sods. -
These look nice and are certainly much better with train wheels.

It is a good start especially with that cockpit to stand in for the front window pains. However I don't think that the nose is quite right yet, I think the cockpit canopy needs to extend a bit further down the nose and the 45 degree angle seems to take over a bit too soon. But curved slopes like these are quite hard to get right and usually need a bit of tweaking as ideas develop over time. I think that it will better with a few carriages that you say you have planned. Anyway overall a good start, so keep it up and post your pictures as you go.
