LEGO Ninjago 2021
Lucarex replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Worth watching just for Indy the cat! No Meowthra-like destruction here. -
Chasing the yuan of the affluent middle class Chinese market no doubt, who will gladly pay a premium for European brands like LEGO over Asian clones (Lepin etc.). Never discussed much but you’d think there has to be higher profit margins in the larger sets.

Think TLG should do more to clamp down on scalping. All very well limiting purchase quantities of sets like this to 2 but I’ve seen eBay sellers with multiple items so obviously they’re circumventing this using different logins and VIP accounts. Maybe IP check would make it more difficult. -

Sold out within 15 mins? Sounds like they had about a hundred or so max which is ridiculous. What about all the sets supposedly they couldn’t ship to North America? Why haven’t they been reassigned to Euro VIPs ordering the sets. I think they had serious production issues here and just haven’t been completely honest about it. The last GWP that was highly sought after was the SW Carbonite Han metal keyring. No such supply issues there, and Lego honoured all orders. -

Says who? It’s the largest in capacity but architecturally it’s an uninspiring stepped bowl and like Old Trafford, the reality is it’s a tired old crumbling wreck of a stadium. I’ve been a few times for matches and each time, it’s worse. But then again, similar to Man Utd, Barcelona as a club is now in a very difficult place, crippled by debt, the Messi situation, an ineffective stopgap manager hired out of sentiment and ongoing ownership troubles. Not sure who the armchair football fan is in Billund, but my understanding is that OT was massively overproduced and sales disappointing. Not sure why they think Camp Nou will be any different at the moment.- 259 replies

LEGO Ninjago 2021

Taken down again it seems. Is there box art for the Temple anywhere else out in the wild? -

Might be helpful if those saying they’ve received with GWP actually specify their country and date ordered. -

They’re sea snakes. Eels are fish. -
What a fantastic MOC! The detail on that 4x4 is just superb as is the whole diorama. Just curious, how did you make the underpinnings of the bridge?

Only images I can see are blurry with a massive black box “hidden for copyright” to prevent strikes. Were there better images posted on IG earlier before others were taken down? If so, does anyone have screengrabs they could PM me? The Atlantis-like temple especially. -

No worries. Now showing as back ordered so I’m guessing that’s the last we’ll see of the GWP. Really disappointing tbh. -
This theme has shelfwarmer written all over it. Like a few figs (shark, mermaid, werewolf, ghost lady and ice cream) but not blind or at those RRPs and absolutely zero interest in the theme and app itself. Going to swerve these for now, possible impulse buy when likely marked down 50% in a few months’ time.

Doesn’t make sense given they must have had thousands surplus from the US/Canada cancellation which they could not ship. Was the OP promoted on the site, or was it just quietly added to your basket when you put the set in there? -

So, is the owners pack GWP cancelled worldwide? Nothing showing up in European S@H this morning as VIP. -
[LEGO Ideas] Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Lucarex replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
There’s a massive difference between being a fan of his books and that of the author. There’s a reason his legacy is tainted and his family are constantly trying to distance the two sides. Personally I’d steer well clear of paying any homage to Dahl himself. Actually, this article detailing his school days explains his inspiration for CATCF. https://www.biography.com/news/real-story-behind-charlie-and-the-chocolate-factory-roald-dahl- 68 replies

It’s really isn’t, it’s just the obvious commercial one. Then again, poor Barcelona are almost bankrupt so could do with any financial assistance to offset Messi’s insane (now leaked) contract.- 259 replies

Really great build, Ishizuki is one of my favourite bonsai forms. I wonder how many fairies were dismembered for the roots and upper branches?

REVIEW: 10295 Porsche 911 Turbo/Targa
Lucarex replied to Ecclesiastes's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thanks for the great review and build pics! Have always had an eye for the Targa and toying (pun not intended) with picking this set up. But still haven’t built the DB5 yet (yeah I know) so the Porsche might be a slow burner. Reckon it’ll be available for the next 2-3 years at least so no rush. -
