You’re right, and I do apologise for the less than warm welcome. Just there’s been a spate of recent new members giving it all that recently (the Ninjago threads in particular), and it just gets a bit tiresome. Not saying your friends are speculating, but you have to understand the scepticism. Lego employees are out of the loop in terms of upcoming sets, unless they’re on the design teams in Billund and if so, they know not to share info. There’s been no reliably sourced rumours from anywhere other than this largish set coming in August. As for passing on information, sure that’s what goes on here, but there’s been a lot of discussion in this thread (and the lack of activity) so it helps to read up on that first. You’re right about remakes of course, and Seattle is possible but it would be a strange one given my point about the architecture. Space Needle aside it’s a fairly generic North American vista in my opinion. Anyway, sorry again for snapping, stick around and welcome to EB.

Price of retirement. Was 160 new I think.

Don’t hold your breath, the theme has sadly moved far away from that ‘purist’ era under Adam Reed Tucker, who has since left TLG. How much is the Studio now on the secondary market out of interest? Was one of the first birthday gifts I got from my other half back in the day, and it’s gotten much love by me and my youngest son. Even those exclusive trans clear sorting trays are so useful for building other sets.

New member, first post and already ITK, yeah exactly... Skylines come in pairs usually (and in January before the Colosseum-induced hiatus ) and whilst a great city, the Seattle skyline isn’t really distinctive architecturally other than one obvious landmark (LEGO already made a small standalone Space Needle back in 2009). The August set is still on schedule and the smart money is on a large scale Forbidden City (Beijing), given the recently released magnet/keyring and TLG’s desperate almost Apple-levels of genuflection to the Chinese yuan lately. The Colosseum was developed LAST year, so RZK has been free for a good 6 months already to work on new models, with the next ‘big release’ planned for August. Ah, and there it is, the well worn “..but this could change” line. Ok buddy.

When are S15 (episodes) being released in Europe? I assumed May/June right before sets but I’ve seen mention of April 4th somewhere. Did I imagine that? -

Not chance whatsoever LEGO will go anywhere near the twin towers, and rightly so. Same sensitivities with the delay and last minute swapout of Mandalay Bay in the Vegas skyline set.

Remind me, when are the S15 “Aquaman/Atlantis-like” sets due to be released in Europe? June 1st? Kids want to know also I’ll assume leaked pics a month or so out from this date. -
I’d be interested to see these out of curiosity, even if I never buy clone brands. Google isn’t helping, could you PM me link or two? Thanks.

Budget for that absolutely essential torso element should have been ringfenced.

Apart from the ridiculous oversized legs of Pooh, could they really not stretched to having the 100 acre wood sign as printed tile(s) rather than stickered? Boo...
-
Haha at the ridiculous 18+ on the box art, especially as they’ve used the “adults welcome” tag line also. Bet there’s many looking at this exquisite IDEAS set and like me thinking “don’t need it...budget set aside for other sets...kids are probably a bit too old...I’m definitely too old, but I just can’t help myself...”

LEGO Ninjago 2021

Oh my. That S15 tentacled villain is triggering my love of all things Atlantean. Already imagining these S15 sets incorporated with Old Fishing Store, Temple of Atlantis plus some Aquaman stuff. -
No worries, just taken aback a little. Sorry to hear my flippant assumption was correct, and yeah I think everyone’s tolerance threshold is much lower these days so apology really not necessary. On reflection, I’m slowly coming to terms with the fact that MK is priced as a licensed theme like SW. Which is fair enough if that’s how LEGO want to position it, but in that case, the retail exclusivity still annoys me on principle. To anyone who already has the set, have you used the waterfall stickers or left it au naturel as I saw in one review? Part counts are not always a good parameter to use. Not sure the actual variety of figs is especially great, although we all love monkeys. As for sales, here in Europe there’s usually a fair few to be had on selected themes and sets, usually between 15-25%. MK is not licensed from an external party, whereas in your example, there’s a big fat Disney fee to incorporate.

Exactly. There’s been a few warnings previously but he’s clearly not even mature enough to heed them. Thanks for the tip/reminder. -

Because he’s clearly an under-18 kid (breaking forum rules) and posting in wrong threads, even wrong themes here. -
Bad day? Not sure what I said that was so controversial but that’s quite a rant at what was effectively a simple complaint about the TLFFM price. “Dramatically lowball it’s value to justify that to yourself”? Thanks for the psychological insight but errr no. It’s just sadly overpriced, as is the rest of the theme. Seems there’s a lot of justification by others defending price points that don’t even come close to equivalence with the larger more expensive (and expansive) Ninjago sets. My concern is in defending this, it sets a further precedent for LEGO and prices keep creeping higher and higher, with value lesser and lesser. It’s a lovely looking MOC-like set, great for display, but with little play value even with the multiple monkey minifigs, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to question the sales sticker. If this wasn’t an exclusive theme, vast majority of buyers would wait for a sale on this.

Wrong plane selection for starters (I’d have preferred the gorgeous silver Electra in which she vanished, which arguably added much more interest in her legacy than her transatlantic crossing achievement). The Vega looks like a cropduster in comparison. Horrible bulky stand. Stickers galore.
-
Such a boring build though. Would prefer something like the beautiful Chrysler at this scale.
-
Great concept but awful execution IMO.
-
Ok so I know MK sets have been price hiked beyond justification since launch, but seeing the price of Fruit Flower Mountain (a set which transcends the theme hence my interest) is still a shock and hard to swallow. Costs a chunk of change more than the Medieval Blacksmith! It’s a €100 max 120 set that’s priced at 170, jeez...

The most obvious clue it’s fake is that massive concert hall is relatively unknown outside of Germany and classical music circles, and has actual architectural merit (albeit with controversial acoustics). It’s about as far removed from the dumbed down populist tourist attraction type sets we now see coming out of the LEGO “Architecture” theme. A rerelease of the Creator Sydney Opera House would be more likely than this hoax.

As someone who loves adidas, whilst they are more understated than the outdated fad knock off look Hype gear (yeah you’re not missing much) there’s little else going for this range of kidswear sadly. Then again I was very disappointed with the September launch wave. Like comparing a Star Wars UCS with a Megabloks polybag. -
Icons Landmark Buildings - Rumours and Discussion
Lucarex replied to Vilhelm22's topic in Special LEGO Themes
You say that but RZK has been instrumental in pretty much every Architecture set over the last few years but spent the last 12 months or more focused on the ridiculously flexing Colosseum set, not to mention his input on HP Diagon Alley. As for your resource suggestion, why would they backfill his role or contract out an external designer just to keep to a schedule of Skyline releases, particularly in a year when all international travel (a big part of impulse sales of these “tourist attraction” sets) has been suspended? It doesn’t make sense. Anyway, it looks like we’re getting some sort of Architecture set in August but subject is unknown at the moment. I only hope it’s not a rebuild of an older set like we saw with the Burj Khalifa or the White House. Some more creative imagination needed.- 259 replies
