I was told official release date is 23 May other than the Leicester Sq store event tomorrow. But expect they’ll continue to be available instore prior to that...well, as long as stocks last. Here’s another pic of the back of Traf Sq...looks like the 3 walls remove off the jumper plates for access to the “gallery”. Nice touch. Adds value to the £69.99 / €74.99 RRP.

Just seen this...jeez TLG’s Architecture theme NEEDS to make that Colosseum
-
Whilst like many others I loved the theme back in 2015 (as did my then-little boy), I do wonder if there is an argument for less is more? The Spooky Lighthouse and Mystery Machine (with interior mod) were perfect and god knows there’s plenty of themes (no names) that suffer from overkill. Regarding this animated movie, I wouldn’t raise hopes. TLG have made several animated Scooby hour-long features since the main line (Haunted Hollywood, Pirate Beach Bash) without corresponding sets.

Any clue when the FFH sets hit European shelves? -
I'm looking for someone with the SDCC BrickHeadz

Seconded! -
The build they should have made IMO

Haha...well I’ve just seen the leaked “preliminary” and to say I’m pleasantly surprised is an understatement! My above comment still applies to the real life square, but Lego have lipsticked the pig and made a really great brick recreation. Focused on the north side, the classical NPG looks superb and the little details from trees to double decker buses just set it off perfectly. Still, Trevi remains my favourite Architecture set, followed by Louvre and new Guggenheim, but I’m already looking to clear a space for TrafSq. Anyone know release date?

REVIEW: 71023 LEGO Minifigures - The LEGO Movie 2 Series
Lucarex replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Haha. Clever. The CMF Team lead ought to be kicking themselves right now for missing that! -
Very nice recreation, lot of thought gone into the build clearly. Have been hoping for a Tintin IDEAS set to make it for some time now.
-
Yeah, bit over the top that, doesn't really qualify as architectural merit
-
Interesting you compare Traf Sq to the Trevi. I guess they are both landmarks, but having lived in both London and Rome, one is in a different league altogether IMO. Likewise in Lego terms, the Fontana model remains my favourite Architecture model and I can't even imagine wanting to buy a brick-built representation of a pigeon-infested expanse with a column statue in the middle, a generic classical gallery on one side and a few stone lions scattered about. As for ESB, I'd rather they looked at upscaling on the Chrysler Building from the Skyline NYC set. Infinitely more beautiful and complex, and arguably just as iconic. WTH? I never knew this.
-
Whilst iconic, both Traf Sq and ESB are sorely lacking in terms of architectural value and aesthetics. Obviously chosen for mass appeal and recognition. Sadly I guess that's a prerequisite for detailed models at this high price-point (same as SOL) but remains to be seen how well they sell. Not an impulse buy like the cityscapes. May as well rename Architecture theme to Tourist Landmarks.

No worries, yep I know that feeling (time/priorities) all too well! Thanks, I’d appreciate that -

Sorry for the exhumation, but the urge for Han in Carbonite has hit me again... Did this tile print/sticker project ever get off the ground in the end? -

Still pining for the much-rumoured orca, that failed to materialise in the City Arctic sets this summer.

I hear you @thorin but sadly from a commercial perspective, the older sets (particularly those with low recognition outside of architect circles, like FallingWater and Villa Savoye), are gone the way of the dodo. Skylines are here to stay for the time being supplemented with larger builds like the Guggenheim, Liberty etc.

Nothing. Sets are done and dusted. -
Nice review @henrysunset For me, even if I ignore the dubious architectural value of a city as insipid and soulless as Las Vegas, the Bellagio is a nice improvement but the set remains let down by that awful Wynn build.

Venice and St Mark's Basilica say otherwise. Think we'll see ND myself, along with La Defense Arch, Tour Eiffel/Arc de T and a tiny Louvre with glass pyramid

Guaranteed that the 007 license is disproportionate/well in excess of the Aston Martin license.
