  1. Some humour much needed in this thread -- I guess those clearly unhappy and criticising the look as being "unrecognisable as a DB5" it might be worth considering that Aston Martin are, even amongst high end car marques - extremely protective about their brand values and perception. Especially when it comes to their legacy - such as this iconic model, forever associated with an equally iconic character. Basically, if it looked like a pile of Megabloks and "unrecognisable" they wouldn't have approved it as agreed. Yes, it's highly subjective but with the noted exception of the perfectly blocky F40, that's the case with all Lego cars. As for complaining about the price and PPP ratios, well that's an argument to be had across the whole Lego landscape. But unusually there are two licensing entities here don't forget.
  2. Love how the licensing deal didn't include the famous theme, so TLG had to make do with a really awful soundalike on the designer video.
  3. Really? If we're talking pure aesthetics, to my eye, the Beetle and Mini sets are only accurate representations (not sure "good looking" applies in either case) if you squint, like really really hard.
  4. Price confirmed on S@H. I've already posted why I think it's unrealistic to expect Superleggera curves in Lego brick form. Don't get me wrong I'm equally disappointed that's the case, but it's very much tempered by the fact the build and gadget features look great. Instant buy for me but each to their own I guess.
  5. Ejector seat, rear bulletproof shield, extending hubcap tyre shredders, front machine guns and what hopefully appears to (really hard to make out) revolving or interchangeable number plates.
  6. 18 hours to go until the big reveal. Cue the inevitable "discussion", which hopefully will be free of irrelevant mentions of a completely unrelated BBC sci-fi series.
  7. You actually believe that? Okaaay....
  8. A really interesting discussion topic. The concept of a chase minifig completely ruins the concept of blind bags, not to mention the buying experience of most of us. As we all acknowledge, the only people who win are the eBay scalpers and gougers, a plague of genital lice on both types. I'm also still bummed out by the whole convention-exclusive debacle, particularly in the increasingly popular Brickheadz. For example, Lego may have partially pacified Boba Fett collectors, but I'm still getting the frozen-in-carbonite middle finger . @koalayummies good point re Taj Mahal, but I'd love to know the rationale behind the rerelease. I don't think it was to deter scalpers as there's plenty of other non-licensed highly-sought-after retired sets that would benefit from that policy if so, and we've seen no signs or rumours of it being anything other than a one-off. Maybe testing the waters, if we're prone to straw-clutching?
  9. Not true. Smyths have it. https://www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/toys/lego-and-bricks/lego-brickheads/lego-41614-brickheadz-owen-and-blue/p/163801 Agree about poor sales/leftovers of first few waves though, but likewise there was the ridiculously short shelf life of Phasma and Finn. Wish I'd picked up Lloyd on offer but never saw it reduced before it too vanished.
  10. How do you account for Slimer then?
  11. 26 Lester torsos? Curious, why? What's the clock dial from? Part ID?
  12. They all do I know. I just asked if anywhere else. Seems exclusive only at this point like BTTF.
  13. Has there been any retail sightings of Venkman & Slimer anywhere but S@H or Lego Stores? Released here in Europe on July 1st but no luck. Strange the Jurassic pair are freely available but others (BTTF and now GB) aren't.
  14. No. I don't think there's any other sets planned. What I meant was it wasn't rushed out at this time as the poster said. You could level that accusation if the new movie was about to premiere and TLG wanted to piggy-back on the media attention. But Bond 25 isn't out until May 2019 earliest, so that criticism doesn't make sense.
  15. Struck a nerve? Nah, just like a bit of debate/banter especially when the comments are a bit OTT . Means a lot to me? Again, nowhere near as much as you imagine. It’s just nice to have something a bit different, that wasn’t really anticipated. That said I love the car itself, so in brick form, I’m glad it exists. I don’t think there’s a Lego set out there that is perfect. I guess I just prefer to look past flaws (or compromises depending on how you view it) and appreciate the good bits for the most part.
  16. "Unfaithful reproduction...poorly done...lots of inaccuracies...ugly...plenty that can be fixed..." Don't sit on the fence now And all that from a quick glance at single low res image printed on a card.
  17. I stopped short of saying that, just thought it And I'm glad I'm not the only one with this exact 'wait and see' approach. I guess there will be some people can't wait (and haven't!) to rip it apart regardless for whatever reason.
  18. Horses for courses though isn’t it? The Mini left me cold, and the Beetle (albeit I liked the colour and surfboard) wasn’t exactly a faithful reproduction was it? If you squinted maybe. Even the London Bus looked a little off. It’s just near-impossible to capture the exact lines of a model like this. It would be the same with a 300SL Gullwing. There’s a reason why 50 years later the actual car still turns heads and drops jaws, even those who are ignorant/ambivalent to the Bond thing. “Good grief....botched...big step below previous Creator...worst ever D2C” etc. is a bit melodramatic IMO. Oh and the “silver thing in front of the bumper” is called the radiator
  19. @Terrasher Or...you could wait to see it from all angles and in detail before picking up the burning torch and pitchfork. There’s no rush, if they wanted to capitalise on the licence, TLG would wait until next spring to coincide with the release of Bond 25.
  20. I always think all cars replicated in Lego bricks have an inherent blockiness (Technics have a different word). It's really hard to do the source justice with all the curved lines, and even more difficult when the car was designed by Superleggera. There's a reason why the angular F40 set is spot on and the Beetle not so much. So I can understand the initial disappointment (all those horse heads jeez) but I think this will grow on a lot of people. Particularly when the features are revealed.
  21. The fact it exists at all is great IMO. Especially with a few working gadget features. Sure there'll be some compromises in the build that not everyone will like (believe it or not not everyone unconditionally loves the design of the car itself despite now-iconic status), but name me a creator or technic car that doesn't.
  22. It is, no question. And she's a beauty
  23. This is going to sell by the bucketload. And everyone will be very happy. Well, except Dalekbuster of course.
  24. AM source
  25. No minifigure sadly. Just create your own, very easy to make custom 007....fleshie head, suit (or tuxedo) torso, hair (colour according to your preferred actor), an appropriate weapon and you're all set.
