  1. Here's hoping (in vain almost certainly) for transluscent bigfig boss ghosts.
  2. The martial arts belt/pants also hint at Ninjago.
  3. White House? Again? Zzzzz Ought to come with a clown minifig.
  4. Supposedly a HS wave 3 bigfig leak on IG. Half-yeti blue dude with ginger mohawk/beard and wearing a purple lei or necklace. Personally not at all convinced it's HS but hey.
  5. Maybe just me (and not a generational thing either) but this doesn’t have a tenth of the appeal (build or aesthetics) that the iconic Lunar Lander has.
  6. Well in that case, claiming Anfield isn’t iconic is just plain ridiculous.
  7. Any sign of these new sets on offer like wave 1 on release?
  8. No football stadium is ever going to win architectural beauty awards (old or new). Pretty much every player and rival fan rates Anfield as iconic though, take this guy for example... "The motto "This is Anfield" is no marketing spin. There's something about it that you will find in no other stadium in the world." (Pep Guardiola) Given the controversies (Qatar suspiciously winning the tournament, and the human rights abuses and deaths involved in building those stadiums), I'd say LEGO would give that idea a Grand Canyon-wide berth. Far more likely to do something later this year for EURO 2020, following on from the DFB player minifig series from the last tournament in 2016. The final is being held at (new) Wembley, with is at least recognisable/semi-iconic with its Norman Foster-design and arch (which has been suggested he copied from Oscar Niemeyer's 1941 design for a new Rio stadium)...
  9. There’s a massive difference between being well known and iconic. OT is in the former camp. Stadiums like Anfield, Camp Nou, Maracana, even the (sadly dilapidated) San Siro are iconic. Ask any player or neutral fan. United’s desperation for that status have seen them nauseatingly self-refer to OT as the “Theatre of Dreams” (more like Screams these days). But then again, their chief exec was notoriously turned down by Jurgen Klopp for describing the club as “an adult version of Disneyland”. As for the London pair you use as comparison, yes SB is bland and soulless whereas Spurs left WHL last year for an admittedly impressive shiny new stadium nearby. (p.s. City’s stadium is the Emptyhad).
  10. If it’s anything like the club itself, and if you wait long enough, eventually Lego will pay YOU 80% of the RRP in desperation just to take it off their shelf...
  11. Thanks Tom, always look out for your reviews. Must admit my first impression was very taken with Tokyo which is on its way, but left cold by Dubai. From what I’ve read elsewhere, the Dubai build is ok if repetitive and dull, and it’s obvious the Golden Arch is a fairly poor brick representation. I guess the vibrancy and composition of Tokyo just appeals, as does the cultural nods, like the temple, sakura trees and Mount Fuji. Dubai as in real life just feels sterile in comparison. Each to their own I guess! At the increased 59.99, that should be a GWP with Tokyo worldwide not a local promotional set.
  12. Not so adopted that you don’t know (or don’t want to further confuse Americans?) that Old Trafford isn’t actually in the city of Manchester As for the unholy trinity GWP, a bit like the current team and manager, that’s a pretty p*ss poor effort for a licensed offering. Yellow not fleshie, no dual moulding or even printing for shorts or kit. Also, they missed a trick not using TLBM Alfred’s baldie head piece for Charlton
  13. Of course it’ll be a limited run that retires quickly as seasonal sets, but there’ll be plenty of stock up to Easter at least.
  14. If I could wish for only one thing only, then definitely bigfig Boss ghosts in their respective transparent colours.
  15. 269.99 apparently Will sell a few in China, but you have to wonder which rabid fan at TLG made the choice/approach? I wonder if it's accurate to the real stadium to include rust and leaky roof tiles? Maybe the Lego license fee will help the Glazers fund some repairs, you know, ignoring that half-billion in debt.
  16. They won’t sell out in European stores.
  17. https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2019/apr/07/rivals-grand-designs-put-glazers-neglect-of-old-trafford-in-spotlight Not the best choice for LEGO in so many ways
  18. 10256 Octan Gas Station has also been leaked. No fuel pumps
  19. Pictures of Old Trafford leaked on IG. Looks an accurate build if you discount the real thing is a bad state of decay, mirroring the club's performance and relevance these days. Knowing United, Woodward has probably offered TLG somewhere around €50m upfront with a further €350,000 a week just to make this set for a few Chinese "fans" in their club shop. Should have gone with Anfield or Camp Nou.
  20. Wave 2 sets (well Truck and Subway) have been spotted on shelves in French toy store.
  21. It’s a shame because it’s a good idea poorly executed IMO. It’s the plastic skins and gaps. If it had brick-built skins like the fantastic shark MOC at the top of this page, then it would definitely be of interest. I’m not sure about it not being an “official line”. Being listed on S@H is about as official as it gets! A limited one-off run maybe that TLG are clearing.
  22. As much as I love the Tokyo set...seriously unimpressed with the extra 10 (>20%) price increase over last year’s San Fran/Paris skylines which had identical if not greater part count
  23. Vikings. Egypt. Rome. This needs to happen. (sorry we’re getting off-topic again)
  24. Both the new bookstore modular and the vintage car winner (to replace the awful one the Diner came with) are an easy pass for me, just no spark really. For next year's modular, I'd like to see something completely different to the format. A zoo-aquarium springs to mind. Doesn't even have to be a building (although recently saw an amazing MOC with one as a department store multi-level type zoo) but an open space still able to be connected.
