Did that news coverage include what was revealed here on the second page of this thread? That it was the filing for a trademark bearing a certain image in order to sell merchandise containing that image that TLG objected to and not opinions and criticism of the company or product? Because even though it was mentioned a few times on the second page it is continuously skipped over and the prevailing story is still that this youtuber is a poor hat in hand victim of a big strong powerful company trying to censor their freedom of speech and not someone who merely received a fairly standard cease and desist type of communication after filing for a trademark that the company objected to.

REVIEW: 71023 LEGO Minifigures - The LEGO Movie 2 Series
koalayummies replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
A TRU employee (before they closed) told me that they have had adults come in to buy a whole box and then return what they don't want after groping everything with their greasy cake for dinner eating fingers in the comfort of their mother's basement (probably). Someone could buy two boxes, grope what they want out of both and then return the other box as 'full' with the now messed up assortment of unwanted figures (after borrowing their mother's car to drive back to the store). Doing either is very scummy. -
Themes LEGO should discontinue
koalayummies replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Speed Champions trounces Brickheadz for parts usage and connection creativity and that's from someone who prefers brickheadz sets to speed champions. Brickheadz are the most monotonous sets to build inherent to the rigidity of the scale and design parameters, two handfuls of Brick 1X2X1 2/3 W/4 Knobs covered by plates. Repetitive and eventually boring but it should stick around as there's clearly more potential, decent price per piece and easily adapted to a wide audience. -
Wow that looks even better @Lego Conductor! The lowered awning was a great choice too, lets more of the building be seen and matches with the rest of the garage facade height. Great MOD work!

Rarest set, polybag, piece or minifigure that you own
koalayummies replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
There's another misnomer in the rarity thinking here and that is going off how many people took the time to say they own the set on Brickset and how many people could actually build the set from the parts they already have but just don't know or care. Apparently I have every single part required to build this Happy Meal cereal box prize newspaper giveaway (thanks for sharing that info @MAB) but just didn't know it and since you opened and built yours and I have all the parts needed to build it there's no difference as they're both opened and used Lego. Therefore, I, and I suspect many others technically own 40200. They just don't know it because, really, who cares. Not as rare as thought. -
Rarest set, polybag, piece or minifigure that you own
koalayummies replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
So this is basically just a bragging thread then? Another way to look at rarity it is to measure the desirability and value. Fewer in number and exclusivity to obtain only tells half the picture if no one actually wants the rare thing you have. For example according to Brickset 1087 people want @Vindicare's posted set while only 231 people want that "BMW" polybag in the original post. In addition one can get that "rare" polybag right now brand new and sealed for around $8 (just about every Lego fan can afford that and there's a couple dozen for sale sealed on bricklink) while that stronghold set is about 25 times more valuable in the same condition and there's only one brand new sealed on BL. -
Right, that's a great summary that helps keep it factual and in-context. Most of the first page and original information made it sound like it was the reviewers opinions and logo used on the video site and not an undisclosed trademark filing for a logo so he could sell merchandise that the company found objectionable.

Thank you so much all of you. I'm really glad you enjoyed this build! Thanks Peedeejay. As far as the setup and equipment its very basic: typical backdrop roll but the results are mostly from using bounce flash off of the white walls and ceiling. I also set up a second white backdrop roll off to the side to use as a big bounce card (cause sliding mirror closet doors ruin everything). 9 year old Canon DSLR, 16-35mm and 50mm (and also reverse-mount the 50mm for 'macro') and an older model canon 'flashgun' angled to the side/back/up. Its just a single "strobe" if one can even call it that. Settings are generally 1/200, f/9.0, ISO 800, ETTL the flash metering at +1. Adjustments in-post are all very minimal in Adobe Camera Raw (from Adobe Bridge): small levels adjustment, lens corrections and very light shadows/blackpoint adjustment. Photoshop is only used for resize, sharpening and JPG conversion. Thanks again! Wow thanks for sharing Digger of Bricks. That is such an honor. I've been reading them for years but never thought I'd have a build featured.

Fantastic MOC Giacinto Consiglio! The color and construction choices are wonderful. I wouldn't have considered many of the combinations here but they work so beautifully. A really excellent building and top notch modular. Great work!

Wanted to comment again as I was a bit rushed before but felt I had to say something. The use of the 'afro' hairpiece for bushes is perfect; with the other hairpieces recolored in green I'm surprised that one hasn't been done yet. I hope we get that. And the SNOT'd fez hat piece as small plant pottery is again excellent parts usage. So many beautifully executed parts and color choices. The construction and finish is very much in keeping with the official set's styles. Great work Bricked1980. -
Welcome to the Adventure Cottage. Where minifigures can go on adventure of sorts. All floors: Minifigures: The gamers, who love to play adventure and fantasy role playing games of all types: Here the gamers are enjoying some dungeons and dragons: The hydrologists and those down on their luck: The hydrologists met at community college and have been a team ever since researching inexpensive and efficient methods of water purification for impoverished areas: The angry rich couple and their no-good son. They wanted to purchase these buildings so they could decorate them but not live in them and then get a tax write off but the landowners wouldn't have it. The first floor of the Adventure Cottage is where the face to face turn base role playing adventure games take place: The online gaming champion has decided to use her prize money to help out the local homeless by giving them a feast: The second floor of the Adventure Cottage is a LAN party where they take their adventures digital and go on quests with others seeking a tale or two to tell: The third floor of the Adventure Cottage is the dining hall of round tables where the gamers take a much needed break from their computer screens and battles and stretch and snack: The second floor of the old temple building is where the hydrologists do the bulk of their work: Its a bit tight and crowded but they manage to get by: The third floor is the bedroom and living quarters so they can stay close by to monitor their research and not have to commute: At some point the buildings stairwell collapsed so ladders were put in but the hydrologists don't mind as its a good all around exercise: The husband and wife food truck team. Since gamers gotta eat but rarely want to travel far from their games they can call up a snack food truck. Cupcake Castle Caravan and Stronghold Snack Supplies are only a phone call away offering al a carte cupcakes and ice creams. Choose your cake and frosting, cone type and ice cream flavor: The anthropomorphic battle ready snack food characters can be raised for when parked and doing business or lowered for when the trucks are in motion: Snack truck interiors: Snack time: Bah humbug: One of the gamers is working on a landscaping robot that can identify and eradicate non-native invasive and troublesome plant species: Other views:

So basically what they did in the first film? Emmet: simple minded, blind follower, oblivious, weak and scared (until self sacrifice) Batman: arrogant, selfish, egotistical, narcissistic, materialistic, treats girlfriend poorly (until he lets her go) Wildstyle: opinionated, courageous, rebellious, fighter Unikitty: caring, cheerful, helpful to others -
Favourite TLM2 CMF Minifigures and Accessories Poll
koalayummies replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Candy Rapper is the best looking figure overall but the accessories are pretty weak for the whole series so went with Emmet for the coffee cup and printed tile being the most MOC-versatile. Not sure either vote went through though. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
koalayummies replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Is it a stretch to think TLG has kind of soured on the idea of piracy considering all the entities taking stuff that doesn't belong to them. Argh. -
Yeah its reasonable trees could get away with it like in real life, but not parts of a building. The stairs location/floor repetition thing however can be frustrating for an MOCer though and I have no problem with anyone not adhering to that. Regarding the awning in question it could just be shortened lengthwise so that once centered it adheres to this.

The Lego Movie 2 - The Second Part 2019 Set Discussion

Oh right. I recall that neck print being talked about before around here, I'll try and find the thread as I believe the CMF and lack of that mark came up in that discussion. -
The Lego Movie 2 - The Second Part 2019 Set Discussion
koalayummies replied to Fenghuang0296's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Other issues reported with the collectible minifigures have been looser leg and arm joints, lesser than normal clutch power for certain connections and hands that are a brighter yellow with more noticeable mold marks than regular set figures. Not sure how neck printing or lack thereof matters much compared to the other issues though since that's almost never seen. -

Survey: New parts and new colors
koalayummies replied to Bonaparte's topic in General LEGO Discussion
First time I've seen it discussed the 1x4 plate with 2 studs got a change. I got a couple from the Speed Champions Mini set I believe. Pic from New Elementary: http://www.newelementary.com/2019/01/review-lego-movie-70828-pop-up-party-bus.html Now it will look like tiles from the side when used as a separation/hold point for a 'modular' style connection. They were using 1x2 w 1 stud "jumper plates" in some official sets for that look. -
[MOC] BRICKS & BLOOMS - Modular Garden Centre
koalayummies replied to Bricked1980's topic in LEGO Town
Awesome MOC Bricked1980. Sand green, nougat and white look great together on the larger side. Excellent use of space, parts and colors throughout. -
Right I can see that the base of the island on the ground is not over the edge, I was referring to the actual awning, the floating roof over the pumps. Unless it is modified from the original dimensions, simply moving the awning over like this makes the awning, the roof part, break the plane of the baseplate. None of the official modulars have anything that goes over the edge of the baseplate. Imagine a vertical wall extending upwards to infinity from all four edges of the baseplate. Of course some MOCs break this rule but the official modulars do not. Really only an issue if its on one of the sides that would connect to another building, since this is obviously over the street its not much of an issue but I think that's why it was done that way in the official set. It does look better centered.

Nice. I too didn't notice until seeing it in person. I think the reason that it wasn't centered like that in the set though is because once moved over the awning breaks the plane of the baseplate/protrudes past the edge.
