Beautifully built and photographed! I like the imperfection details in the egg-whites; the bubbles let you know it's almost done. Fantastic MOC and now I'm super hungry.

This is one of the most ornate and intricately detailed interiors ever and also true to its real life inspiration. Love your book choices as well. Wonderful MOC!

I think you're onto something here; every set cited by the OP is from a licensed theme. And the respondents point out similar things in non-licensed sets and are ignored.

The Lego Movie 2 - The Second Part 2019 Set Discussion
koalayummies replied to Fenghuang0296's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Wow thats a tough one, at first glance the versatility of that piece looks a bit lacking but I can't wait to see what people come up with. -
As someone who didn't see the movie the imagery of dudes in boats chasing concerned looking fish-women with nets is a bit confusing, what... what are they planning on doing once they capture them? But yeah naked shoulder blades isn't exactly scandalous. Well if one watched the South Park parody then its a different body part, but yeah mostly dragons and body parts comes to mind.

BrickHeadz 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion
koalayummies replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Licensed
Good article, would love to know which reason it is. And excellent point about the possibility of it involving a larger deal to carry more product between the two since the loss of TRU, ~20% of the toy market in the US before going under so one has to believe they want to recoup that lost distribution as soon as possible.- 238 replies

The LEGO Movie 2 SPOILER thread
koalayummies replied to Blondie-Wan's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
I have to agree with @Robert8's synopsis about Emmet/Rex being an inner conflict regarding the masculinity tropes, loss of innocence, maturity etc. Whether its time travel or not isn't as important as the overall message about growing up but not losing some of the good qualities you had as a kid and that was summarized well. If we're attributing what was built and seen in the minifigure story to the live-action characters then technically the dad built almost all of Bricksburg and most of the rest of the 'worlds' the first movie took place in. However Finn was very good at utilizing what was available in those worlds to build new things and also heavily modifying existing builds to his liking while retaining the original parts and aesthetic; the various vehicles built from the surrounding scenes (pig wagon and glider, alleyway tricycle, cloud cuckoo submarine), bad cop's super secret police builds, the citizen's transformed uprising battle vehicles, construct-o-mech and so on. Definitely agree that based on the Systar system builds that the sister has very refined and advanced building skills, especially considering her age, utilizing a lot of SNOT with a very sleek/smooth, clean, futuristic and cohesive style. It easily rivals Finn's skill and given that she is younger one could argue she might even be better. Sweet Mayhems starship is a beautiful build so much so that even Benny is swooning over it while they still think she's the enemy and the Party Bus makes his spaceshipspaceshipspaceship from the first movie (Finn's build) look like a fragile blocky exposed-stud 1980's hot-mess. And excellent video @Digger of Bricks. The way we're using it makes it an adult thing.- 69 replies

Always gorgeous and impressively large buildings Jalemac34! This is wonderful. Your use of sand green with this architectural style is fantastic. The middle windows variation from floor to floor is great and that roof is beautiful. Amazing MOC! Very inspirational.

There was a discussion in the Batman CMF thread about some of the characters that became minifigures that TLG may not have done enough backstory research into like history of sexual assault IIRC. The details are fairly obscure except for the more involved fans who have actually read certain comics but still, everyone who googles who March Harriet is will quickly find out she is an "escort".

If this is a spoiler thread then why does everything need spoiler tags? Will turn on no script for this thread- 69 replies

The Lego Movie 2 - The Second Part 2019 Set Discussion
koalayummies replied to Fenghuang0296's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yes that needed to be said. I was short on time and hastily feeling for the few I wanted from this series in the same lame scattered walmart manner and mistakenly thought her 1x3 brick head was Benny's toolbox. When I opened the bag and saw freaking Unikitty I was so disappointed... in myself. -

Those brick-built alternatives are excellent @JunkstyleGio, especially for the majority of us who missed out on the resellers-delight limited edition nonsense.- 238 replies

Really great recreation with tons of creative little builds connections and parts usage throughout. What a joy to look at. Also really want those profile bricks in red brown now. Great MOC!

I love the hodgepodge creations that come out of this. Realize that its just picking parts to build a figure per the rules but the results are still amusing. Like that press/reporter and his fine hourglass-figure.

The climatologist and her longtime nature photographer and conservationist friend head out into the remote and unforgiving desert to check on one of the climate monitoring stations. Although the monitors transmit their data via satellite they still require periodic maintenance, diagnostics, calibration, cleaning and the occasional repair. Given the nature of their work they're well aware of their carbon footprint but still require vehicular transportation to these remote sites so with the help of their friends in the industry they employ this truck powered by sustainable algae biodiesel.

The original can be removed like any other plate with the brick separator using the top studs. If it has any studs at all its a plate. However they have since changed the 1x2 w 1 stud ("jumper") to look like this one whereas before it didn't have the tile lip around the bottom. In any case I can appriciate the discussion around this piece, finally. I actually like both parts and would prefer if both are around but seems more likely that'll wind up being wishful and the new one will take over.

[MOD] Modular-ized Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters
koalayummies replied to koalayummies's topic in LEGO Town
I haven't yet. Been focusing on building new stuff. Yeah, that was the whole point; to make it like the modulars and away from the dollhouse style of the official set. There are four free studs in the back so really can't make it deeper, making it narrower would then require an infill to take up the rest of the 32-stud baseplate width and making it taller would render it out of place with any other modular. The original set is a dollhouse play set. This is not. -

Wow this is fantastic. The hyper realistic detail in minifigure scale is spot on. Love the snotted and rounded concrete floors, the worksite barricades, protruding rebar ready for more cement pouring, the dumpster and that crane is marvelous. Gorgeous MOC!
