It almost seems to me that they don't even really want to promo this movie outside of the US that much...You guys there have a new rumor or announcement every day to talk about, while Europe is just guessing. It doesn't make sense to me, why on earth they wouldn't announce the promotions even 3 days before the event...And it's not just the LEGO shop, the only big toy chain here ,TRU doesn't have any info either. neither in Germany, nor in Switzerland, and the French TRU site only has an Advent Calendar promo....I just saw some RO toys casually scattered around a store in Germany last weekend (no LEGO though), no fuss, no standee, nothing. They were just hidden in a forest of TFA toys. (And on another note, these neutral black/ slightly green packages don't really stand out next to the TFA reds) I'm feeling kinda left out of things here.

So if I understand correctly, we are almost certain that the Revan minifig is for America only? It would be nice if LEGO actually promoted this promotion everywhere else too, I didn't find any official info in either of the EU stores. Not that I could order from anywhere else than my residing countries store, although I have a shipping address in Germany, they don't deliver to those...and ofc the swiss store is more expensive and they only provide free shipping from 100 CHF, whereas in Germany it's 55 EUR...besides, I can't even register for the VIP program, because the mighty new shop doesn't want to play nicely... So even if there's a promotion I'll have to think twice about getting anything from the official store to avoid either spending over 100 (I only like the AT-ST at the moment), or if I don't I have to pay 15 CHF for shipping, which gets to me in 4-10 business days... yay lego!

aww man, I was just going to do this exact shot with my newly built UCS Slave-I....but after this, I don't think I can improve much. I was going to use a blue background, but then it's much more work with the lighting and other effects in PS, so this is a great job with the "digital matte painting" :) well done.

I've seen this build a while ago on other sites, but since I registered here I come here every day and admire it it is friggin amazing...I'd love to see a super star destroyer or FOSD from you

The UCS Hype. What will 2017 bring? (40th Anniversary)
brobert replied to Major_Ton's topic in LEGO Star Wars
As someone who hasn't been building lego all my childhood (all my parents could afford were a couple of cheap knockoffs with simple 2x4 plates, and some slopes, plus some mini gift sets next to Lay's chips :D), I am pretty much blown away by this set. Of course, since then I am making up for what I missed, but the Slave-I is just my 16th set, and I love the techniques used, some of them are very clever. I am almost done with it now, and it's absolutely amazing looking, very hard to imagine improving on this indeed. Ofc. I haven't been to MOC-s for years, so there are probably slightly better, or at least different techniques to build it - from what I've seen on this forum this far, even before I finally registered, there are some pretty talented builders here. But as you say, the lack of Slave-I MOC-s suggests that this is really as close as it gets at the moment. -

Well, apprently the only common thing is in UCS sets recently is the huge price tag. To me, UCS sets meant greatly detailed, big format sets, which are not really targeted to kids, as they consist of way more pieces than normal sets, and don't have too many play features.

If that question was for me, the EXIF data is available on Flickr, but this was shot with a D7200 with the 50 mm f1.8 lens, which is pretty good for close-ups. But I recently bought a proper macro lens, so now I just need some time to get into it a bit more. I'm building my UCS Slave-I since 3 nights now, but when I'm finished, I'm gonna shoot the crap out of it :D

That's a very good price indeed. I would pick it up too, but in Switzerland it sells for around 120 CHF, which is a bit more than 120$, that's just too much for it...

[MOD] 75102 X-wing S-foil, rubber band, and landing gear fix
brobert replied to Flandy's topic in LEGO Star Wars
This mod is pretty effin awesome. Although my biggest problem with these sets is still the engine part that separates, as it should be circle shaped, and this is oval. That, and the end of the cannons, if you can fix those, it's a pretty much perfect model. great job! -
This is so much cooler than the official "UCS Insult on Hoth", as someone said...I like that combat speeder, that's very much new for me, although I've been a huge SW-fan my whole life basically...

Thanks, well technically not the very first, the first few were just close-ups of minifigs and my Grievous buildable figure to experiment with the lightsaber effect in PS.

This is a pretty nice build, but how exactly is this specific to Battlefront? DICE used the original models, so this is the same AT-ST as in the OT..

And if they make a Boba Fett movie, LEGO will have to release new one...I will be interested to see how they can improve the design on a smaller scale. (or, if I want to be really mean, they can just re-release this UCS set, with slightly updated minifigs )
-
exactly, although I was hoping for a proper UCS DS II, but since we got a rehash instead - of a set I wouldn't want to get anyway, it was a no-brainer.

wow, great in-depth look on this ship over the years. As I just picked up my UCS Slave-I, reading this I can't wait to assemble it!
-
This water effect is pretty creative. I have this polybag too, it came with the Lego SW TFA game, but I really dislike this model, it doesn't look at all like a T70. That said, you probably took it as far as it gets. I just disassembled mine, and used it to modify the micro Kylo Ren shuttle, that also looked like crap originally...

It's a UCS set, it IS built for display... Do you have any detail on how 75060 bends? I'm just going to build it, now I'm worried...

AT-AT Troop Capacity upgrade (MOD: 4483)
brobert replied to ZeldaTheSwordsman's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I don't know, for me, it's not that important how many fit inside, since I've placed my snowtroopers into a nice little diorama along with other Hoth sets that I have. The space inside is pretty confined, so there's only so much you can do with it,but I don't see why you would want to cram even more troopers in. -
I'm taking home my new UCS Slave-I today so excited...

You're right on many levels, but I think now more than ever, the UCS should retain it's exclusivity. Now that Disney will keep churning out new movies, TV-shows and whatnot, there will be material for "old-school" UCS sets, easily enough for 2 a year or so. And Lucasfilm takes this niche market seriously. Just look at the movie replica line they launched, with props that cost more than a LEGO set ever could. They are right to target all segments of the market, but watering down the UCS-line is not a good idea on my opinion. They could've introduced a new label for big playsets, and leave UCS to be what it was...

I am, like most of the people, utterly disappointed by both of them. For the first time in my life, I can now afford a UCS set, and now they release these 2...I mean, even if you have sympathy for any of these, you gotta admit, this year is not the best to get into UCS. The Hoth set is just ridiculous, unfinished, looks like all of the previous Hoth sets were just thrown into one box, and there you go. The Death Star must be a cool playset. But it's no UCS to me. Since this iteration - like the previous one - will probably be in production for like 6-8 years, it's definitely no collectors item. And it's sure as hell no ultimate model. It's just a bunch of scenes put together, regardless of which DS it was taking place on. It's a mess. It's probably fun for kids, but for that, it's stupid expensive. So, I went with the UCS Slave-I instead.
