Wow, i didn't think my opinion would be shared by so many, but it looks like I'm in the mainstream this time :) Best set is a hard one, I voted for the U-wing, because I like that model better than the shuttle, but that has definitely more interesting minifigs. (K2 plus death troopers, it's a no-brainer.) But the best value for money is hands down the AT-ST, and that is also interesting for people who only care for the OT, or want to put it in an OT environment. All in all I think this was a good wave (I only count the first 5 sets here), because we could get all the main characters from just 4 sets, 2 of which were relatively low-cost.

wow, great job! now as others mentioned too, the fuselage seems just a bit too long, and the wings look a bit off too, as I see they are approx. the same witdh all the way? Now I realise making those accurate will be a challenge because of the danger of sagging, but they need to be gradually slimming from base to end. If you figure that out, it's pretty much perfect. The interior is a home run, really nicely done, lots of space in there as I see.

What're your favorite and least favorite Star Wars sets?
brobert replied to Loco de Lego's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Of course there is no price increase, you live ON the Death Star -
Yeah but that was released around the time of Ep II wasn't it? That way, it even made sense. Years after it appeared in anything, and a bland vehicle like that...I don't think so.

May the Force be with you!

Holy crap that Empire vs rebels set would be great, but just imagine the price tag on that shit Would be a good UCS idea though.
-
Yeah, a 2-minifig cockpit would be great, a UCS-scale set would be even better!

They were talking about the T-15 being obsolete if I remember correctly, and I've read about it. It's a nod to ANH, where the pilots are talking about the new T-16. A similar reference was in TFA, where the troopers on Starkiller base were talking about the new T-17.

Well, the design of the shuttle itself is pretty boring though... the set is nothing short of imposing for sure. K-2SO is definitely a great novelty, and the death troopers look awesome too. -
If you take another advice, I think that the TLG-solution for the folding mechanism is really good, it's simple and not too chunky, if you eliminate that part which holds the wing now, you will have more space for an opening door. The door mechanism could be probably improved over LEGO's model.
-
Not too shabby, but the white background is kind of an own goal here :) The design is really sleeker, but as I can see the big doors on the sides are not there now. Looking at the ILM images, I think the fuselage should be a bit shorter though.
-
It's definitely pretty long, I don't know if it's the longest wingspan or not, but not too bad. Not nearly long enough though, compared to the fuselage, but I see that if the wing would be even longer, there might be some issues with the build, it could easily bend...one of the long black bricks in my set was even bent out of the box. All in all it's a great set, excellent minifigs, I'm really pleased with the RO line so far. (Kind of funny though that I already got the whole line except for the striker until the opening weekend, even if I didn't plan to... :D)

I would vote for the shuttle, 6 minifigs, and a pretty huge model, although not very interesting in design indeed. But the A-wing will be available in proper RotJ livery (or already is), and I think it's no coincidence that set is being retired so soon. But if you want the Vader minifig and his fighter, that might be the one for you. I'd say the shuttle if better value though for the same price, more pieces, more minifigs, and they all look absolutely great. -
So here's the thing. I you think about it, lots of the OT sets are also based on stuff we barely see in the movie. Just a couple of things that come to mind: A- and B-wings, TIE Interceptors, heck even the Slave-I in in a few shots only. The aliens: not many of the featured LEGO aliens are more than a glorified cameos. These are just background characters who got fan favourites, because they look interesting. Boba Fett's name was for example never mentioned in the OT.
-
U-wings are in definitely more shots than the Tank. Especially if you count interior shots. The Striker is probably on par with the tank I would say, the tank is just in one scene, but that might be longer than the few cuts of the strikers. I envy you, I hope to build it tomorrow...

Agreed. I slept one on it, and...WOW. Great movie. Can't wait to see it again.

Exactly, if this is really going to be the case, it's a very welcome initiative. Not everyone is all about army building guys :P

That's not even the same car on multiple photos. SO how does this work, you buy thousands of dollars worth of LEGO, pack 2 cars full with it and then?
-
Yes, but don't forget, this all happened a long time ago....they didn't have Amazon or ebay back then. Not to mention in a galaxy far, far away...as far as I know both of these ship to terrestrial addresses as of yet..

My problem with this is, that although with the CFC we at least had a good starting point, and combining multiple you can get the full platform, with this, e.g. multiple walls are missing, and the whole thing seems kinda claustrophobic. I feel like someone with enough resources and time on their hands could get a better MOC together without these parts. While the hangar itself is not a set yet, the new Naboo starfighter set includes the fighter, some extra accessories, and quite a lot of droids with Obi-Wan, so combining that with a custom built hangar plus the missing characters would be a nice MOC. Too bad I have no place for it... -
The items on my wishlist have been restored, but I didn't find the Coming soon sets again...the date is still Dec 16.

That. The Valorum idea is actually pretty cool. I'd love to be surprised by stg like that. Agreed on Sio Bibble as well, not a very memorable character at all. (except for the elaborate beard-composition ofc.) Unless they need to make absolutely sure that an invasion is happening and the death toll is catastrophic. It's great to see Jimmy Smits again, but I feel like too many prequel characters would be forced (pun intended). Just let us forget gungans. Disney can make a TV-show about it if they want, but if I see another gungan retconned into the OT-era, imma go berserk right there on the spot.

I think it just represents some of the energy beams in the area, but it's not really supposed to be right there. At the end, I think they just added it so there's something between the 2 levels....I am still underwhelmed by this set, much like the Carbon freezing chamber, it's not bad for a start, but requires quite a rebuild to look really nice.
