  1. of course they will, they have to keep the maneyyy flowing sometimes I really feel like they are f%king things up deliberately with new designs, so there can be a huge debate in the community about it, then get praised to heavens when eventually they finally do it right with the 3rd or so iteration.
  2. Yeah you get my point, however, I never said that kids are more likely army builders, I said they are just as likely to be into that stuff. But you're right about the amount. The "craziness" of an AFOL collector cannot be matched by a puny child
  3. I'm still not happy with this, so I'm definitely happy about buying a revell model instead. The bomb dropping is neat though.
  4. This is the true color, good job on the conversion. If it looked like this out of the box, I would've bought it.
  5. As you yourself say: presumably. I don't buy it. I've seen some very early concept arts and all of them were black. (The ones that resembled the final form of the shuttle anyway) I have to check in the Art of the Force Awakens, but I think there's only one concept shown there, which is pretty much the final ship, made at least one year before release, and all of it's black glory. Besides, how would they know that the wings extend, and not know that they open wide as well? Even if you don't see any proof, it's common SW-sense: almost every ship -allegiance aside - has folding wings in some way (and I just realized this while typing this comment :D), but granted, this one moves in more than one way.
  6. Sure, I think we all would love that :) In an ideal world, TLG would release a line specifically for AFOL-s with right colors, and maybe even some weathered look. But then lots of the guys with their awesome MOC-s would be out of their hobbies :) But that's the beauty of LEGO. You can do almost everything with it. If you have shitloads of money, time and energy to buy the right parts and design/build it ...
  7. Same in Switzerland, probably everywhere in Europe...and I saw it already highly discounted in TRU and Amazon as well.
  8. The ship itself is not a particularly interesting model IMO (typical mon cal ship which is just a bunch of lumps slapped on each other), but well done with the MOC, you've managed to fill it with a really nice interior!
  9. Exactly what I wanted to say, and there's no excuse for that, especially after they just released Krennic's shuttle in the correct black color....
  10. Got a bit early into the Christmas spirit, but since the lights got out of the storage, Jyn and Canadian couldn't miss the opportunity to decorate their trusty U-wing to pose for a Christmas card. Bistan was feeling cheeky though, couldn't stand photo bombing them.... much to Jyn's annoyance :) http://Early Christmas card by Róbert Herczeg, on Flickr
  11. "Great kid! Don't get cocky" welcome, but please check the topics first, we have a thread for photography already.
  12. Yes, thank you, finally someone who shares my opinion. This is kind of sad though, since everyone was already complaining about 2016, well, so far the next year is even worse. (Sure, this is just one wave, but still..) But let's hope they have some really nice sets for the big anniversary...and no UCS playsets....
  13. The Y-wing is highly unlikely to get a UCS treatment next year, considering there's already a microfighter and a normal set announced. I would like to be wrong, but I bet it's going to be another playset. Like a Cantina or stg. Or, if they want to ride the RO waves even more, even a Yavin base.
  14. I don't agree, this wave is really lackluster for me as well... Only one bigger vehicle, and even that is kinda shabby. If you're not into army building or microfighters, this is utter disappointment.
  15. ok, this is the most amazing fleet I've seen so far...just fantastic! The envy is strong with me now :D At first I thought that some ships might be out of scale but I've looked them up and it seems pretty close to perfect!
  16. I don't like the stud-shooters either - as I don't think any AFOL does - but I think your reasoning for how AFOL-s are more likely to build armies is flawed. Kids like to build armies just as much - or at least I would've loved back in the time - and parents are probably willing to buy them (at least until they feel the pain of stepping on studs ). Let's not forget that LEGO is a toy brand, therefore targeted to children first and foremost, even the UCS-line is moving towards play features rather than satisfying AFOL-s (but that's another topic alltogether) For us, any kind of projectile weaponry is utterly unnecessary really, they mostly just take away from the appearance of a good model - however designers are getting better and better at concealing the shooters by the day. But with handheld guns there's not much chance for improvement in design...but at least the normal sets come with multiple spare guns mostly, so there's a good secondary market for more realistic guns.
  17. I got the U-wing at a 20% discount in TRU last Friday (67 CHF). I didn't really want this set (I don't normally buy based on unreleased material), but having built it, it's a great vehicle. It's pretty big, and with 5 minifigs, 2 of which are the main protagonists, it was a good catch. The level of screen accuracy remains to be seen, but from the already released material, it looks like the designers got most of the stuff right, the wings might be a bit short, but it's already about the same length as the UCS Slave-I.
  18. OK, I'll probably give in, and buy the blue T-70 today, as there's a 20% discount in TRU, but I'll definitely mod it. It would be awesome if someone who tried this mod could put together a list of extra parts, cause it's not very convenient to find for extra parts on sometimes badly lit images. (No offense Flandy, I get it, you made it for yourself, and honestly, if I came up with it, I wouldn't have the energy to did the part list either probably...but maybe someone else)
  19. Yeah, i discovered that a little later...when it was too late. :) Anyway, my design is mostly finished now, I just had a bad experience with the Lego online shop when trying to order the pieces, so the project is now parked until I figure out what's the best way of putting it together for a normal price...
  20. Yes, I picked up the book as soon as it came out, I love to see these kind of creative processes, and actually a lot of their decisions makes sense. They wanted to play heavily on nostalgia, they had to make viewers comfortable with familiar designs after the much hated prequels. They definitely put more effort into designing the characters, and locations. I like that they didn't introduce 120 new ships just to sell even more toys, but that resulted in a somewhat boring landscape. But reading that book made it obvious, that despite all the hate that goes towards this movie because "it's just a rehash of ANH", a lot of thought went into designing it how it turned out. It just leaves us, SW-hoarders a bit disappointed, because there's not too much worth collecting :)
  21. Haha, that would make sense :D Really though, what's so interesting about this design? Remember Ben Quadrinaros' podracer? Well it's that. With the cabin reworked and stuck between the engines and some added wing-thingies. It's true though, that as TFA lacked any imaginative ship design, so it's pretty much the only option that hasn't been made yet. And Han's freighter, but that's also not much to look at. But I would rather see a good, improved OT mode, or a proper T-70 any day, than some vehicle tucked away in a corner in a movie, or modified designs of existing ships in Rebels. Or anything from this Freemaker ad series....
  22. Which I don't quite understand, since it's a vehicle that was seen in the movie for literally 1 minute or less, until it's blown to pieces. And it kinda looks like a simple podracer...but whatever floats their boats I guess...
  23. I've been searching for a topic to post my calvary, I think I found it. I've been trying to order some pieces for a MOC I've been working on, I wanted to use the "official" path, so I went to the official online shop. I selected 158 pieces, plus some other stuff, since to have free shipping in my country I have to spend 100 Swiss Francs, and my order was only about 80. I was not a VIP member before, so I thought I'd sign up. It told me that at checkout I can finish the sign up, but I could never complete the order, it gave me an error, and told me to contact customer service. So I did, the cutstomer service rep was really nice, tried to help, told me to send her the pieces that I wanted to order so she can submit the order for me. Her attitude kind of made me forget about this shitty new site, but not for long, as she told me in her reply, that since they cannot submit PaB orders there at support, my order's price could vary. So instead of 120 bucks, it would be 145..... I mean I'm sorry, but how is it fair that I have to pay more, because their webshop doesn't work???
  24. So to start with, here's mine: Like I mentioned, it was exactly 3 years ago when I bought my first LEGO set for myself. I don't really remember why I decided, but I was always fascinated by LEGO and was a huge SW was since I was 9. However, I was living in rural Hungary, so my parents couldn't really afford to buy such expensive toys for me. But that didn't stop me from building my very first rookie "MOC"-s even at that young age from small promotional bags found in chips bags, and some cheap knockoff parts. My very first one was I think a small X-wing that I still have to this day at home (The second I think was the starship Voyager from ST). Then when I finally got a decently paying job, and I could afford it, I bought my very first official LEGO SW set, the 9492 TIE Fighter. Then I went on with a rebel snowspeeder, and later I could make a barter business through my blog so I could buy the AT-AT. And long story short, now I am at the point where I'm starting to have problems with where to put my future sets :)
  25. I've been reminded by my facebook this morning, that it was exactly 3 years ago today, when I left my "dark ages" behind. It made me curious, probably many of you have interesting stories about how you started your LEGO (Star Wars) collection, most of you definitely much earlier than me. So if you feel like it, please share your "origins": what was your first SW set? How did you start? Where did you get with it to this point? (Sorry if another topic like this exists, I searched the first 10 pages, and didn't find anything similar, so I thought I'd start a new one.)
