Lord of the Rings Ongoing Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to Momotof's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Which is strange, considering they‘re both releasing on June 1st Yeah, I prefer bookends over book nooks, especially for the Balrog. The only thing I‘m worried about is that the HE set is only like 6 studs deep, which might be tricky for a full-sized Balrog, assuming the dimensions will be similar… -
Are there too many licensed LEGO themes?
BrickBob Studpants replied to imposter's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Exactly. Some may disagree, but I think it’s a neat ideas to integrate some new concepts into an existing theme such as Ninjago, like with the underwater or D&D-inspired subthemes they had. That approach is far less risky than creating an entirely new theme! Same with Adventurers sort of returning in a City subtheme That of course doesn‘t mean every idea should be treated like that! -

Except Mando S3 and Ahsoka A) had first waves with more than just one set, and B) the respective follow-up waves focussed on spoilerific content. The TIE Avenger (?) was all over the marketing from the get-go, so any spoiler argument is moot That of course doesn‘t mean we‘ll never get it, but I still think that particular train has left the station. -

The „there used to be 20 in-house themes“ argument also falls apart if we exclude non-story-driven themes -

And new themes will likely REPLACE them Also, you‘re missing a bunch of in-house themes from your list. Oh wait, those themes undermine your argument, so of course they must all be ignored -

Are you actually a turtle of the mutant kind? They only have three fingers on each hand to count In 2026, we already know that City, Technic, Friends, Creator, Dreamzzz, Classic, Botanicals, Lunar New Year, and Ninjago will continue. And of course we have Icons and Ideas, which are only partially licensed. It‘s also very likely they‘ll introduce a new big bang theme to replace Dreamzzz, but of course we won‘t hear about that for a while. And Monkie Kid, which evidently was a success, will likely be replaced by a new theme as well, to continue fostering the Chinese market. Not sure where you‘re going with your „ZOMG IN 2030 ALL THEMES WILL BE LICENSED“ fearmongering Do you honestly believe that? -

I‘d rather switch out one of the buildable figures for it, but yeah. This would‘ve been such a cool set, and they even could‘ve brought back the Range Trooper helmet! TLG ignoring a new TIE is kinda bonkers, but it‘s not the first time (the TIE Reaper & TIE Whisper come to mind). Also, hot take, but this clip alone is far more exciting to me than most of the action in S1, which was competent, but not memorable at all (except for Luthen‘s escape). I know, the monologues are the high point of S1, but it’s nice to see some good action set pieces too! And more Stormies! Plus, Andor finally does some actual spy work, as was originally promised! -

Nothing to write home about, but still a pretty cute set! I‘m more looking forward to the LOTR and Sherlock Holmes book nooks / book ends though -

Depends on whether this approach also applies to D2C sets. After all, out of all the DA sets, only two of the playsets were partially inspired by the parks, the rest was movie-based. My guess is that the upcoming set focusses on the movies since there are already enough shops they can do without having to rely on park-specific additions -

Fair enough, we can count that one then And I know, judging a year solely based on how much new stuff there is for a long-term collector may not be entirely fair, but that‘s one of my key metrics and I stand by that We have some desirable remakes (V-19, CTT, playset Jango‘s Slave One, U-Wing), a couple of vehicles with new colour schemes (Ahsoka‘s interceptor, UCS Slave One, MTT), and few new characters (Dedra, Bacara, Bly), but even then, 2025 will undoubtedly be the weakest LSW year for me since 2010. -

We also got the Crimson Firehawk last year, if we count 4+ sets as playsets Fair enough, but I didn‘t blame my lamentation about a lack of new playset vehicles on the CTT (which would be absurd since it was a misunderstanding that TLG had nothing to do with), but rather on the selection this year as a whole. As you say, a TIE Avenger (?) would‘ve been awesome! It was right there! -

You hear Han's voice when looking at Garindan? Yeah, hearing voices in your head is not a good thing (especially when they tell you to do things) Also, Jango's Slave One doesn't have a "new" colour scheme. We've had it before, in 2002 How's the air up there, on your high horse? -

A lot if it stems from the fact we just lost our only new vehicle this year I doubt most people are attached to the UT-AT, but at least it would‘ve been something new. 2025 might now be the only year that doesn‘t have a single new vehicle -

I really didn‘t care for him in S1 (and particularly his never-ending cereal munching scenes), but this is an interesting development to me, because A) going from creepy stalker to rescuer to lover is certainly a choice, and B) one will 100% betray the other at the end The tensions are already there in the clip! You‘re ready to burn his minifig already, but imagine what you will do if he turns out to be the one to cause her downfall -

…you‘re right! I thought the Cupid wings were a neck attachment, but they‘re attached to a bracket piece. I forgor Makes a lot more sense than developping a new piece for a Creator set.- 5,839 replies

Dangit, I should‘ve known someone would immediately find one!! And the one from She-Ra isn‘t exactly obscure either… I‘m a dumb-dumb That wing piece could be very useful! Previous wing pieces either required a bar or clip piece to connect to or were specifically designed for minifigs. All this one requires is a single stud. Time for some winged animals!! This would work for goats, pigs, sheep, and even Gollum- 5,839 replies

There were two batches of leaked images, and it was only in the first one! Try Reddit And yeah, having a moulded animal in a Creator set is interesting! I doubt it has a horn though since it already has wings. I‘ve never heard of a horned pegasus or a winged unicorn- 5,839 replies

On the one hand, I‘m happy to have a CTT not based on the Battle of Kashyyyk since that one has been overdone over the years, so this is kinda refreshing. On the other, RIP UT-AT And there goes our only new vehicle this year. The hot rod snowspeeder sounds pretty fun, but having a random duros instead of Jedi Cad Bane is a lame choice. -

The first Andor clip is out, and something tells me @THELEGOBATMAN is not gonna like what transpires here Kinda weird we have yet to see a U-Wing anywhere, considering it‘s what they went for with the set! Especially compared to the TIE Avenger (?), which is all over the marketing. -
