  1. I just finished piecing together the set (ess the figs and snowspeeder) and really like it. To me it seems that 3 letters on the box (U.C.S.) have created a bit of fuss over an otherwise neat set. I plan to modify it like I do with so many of my sets. I'm a little confused about what some people thought they would get with a 2000 piece set. A decent Hoth UCS would probably need to be at least 3x that amount. I love my Ewok Village and Hoth playsets and hope to see another one soon (maybe Cloud City?).
  2. Is your saddle trac a c-model or a completely custom build? I'm just wondering as I bought a second 42054 to have double wide tires and was curious if I could build your model with the remaining pieces (heck I'd take the double tires off to have another tractor).
  3. Looks really nice. I'd probably try to build it from a LDD file, though I always fear the digital glue that seems to hold many of these models together.
  4. Does anyone know if the whole set needs to be torn apart and rebuilt to incorporate Efferman's steering mod? I'm a beginner at Technic, so rebuilding the set from scratch would take quite some time (and maybe difficult with LDD), though I'm not thrilled with how awkward the steering is. Thanks!
  5. Awesome! I didn't realize the feet were reindeer until the video showed Rudolph.
  6. What about the tires on the recent Volvo front-loader set (see CAT picture above)? They seem a little small on the loader, but I think they would look nice on a grader that was built to suit. I wonder if Lego will ever do one with power functions.
  7. That's really neat. I'd love to add maybe 200-300 pieces to my blue crawler (official set) and change it into a similar crane. I just wouldn't know where to begin.
  8. This one looks to be from scratch, but it may give you some ideas: It's the most impressive one I've seen so far.
  9. Thank you. I ended up taking it apart and rebuilding it. I had difficulty with one axle 5.5L with stop and replaced it with a regular 5L. Otherwise, it functions well. It was my most wanted of the Technic sets and the least enjoyable to build. Probably at least partially to blame on not having a hard copy of the instructions (the crane boom(?) was really tricky with all the black pieces blending together).
  10. 42009 Mobile Crane: I'm using digital instructions to build this set (they're often tricky to read) and missed a gear that goes right above the turntable, which connects to the 4L stop axle that leads to the base. I was able to tear it apart to get it in, but I don't know if I messed something up in the process before I continue with the crane. This was a couple hours of work, so I'm crossing my fingers (a youtube video makes me think there's a problem). My question is about the functions. When the winch extends the string, the actuators slowly recede and when the winch reels in, the actuators slowly extend. Is this correct or are they supposed to be 2 separate functions? Thanks!
  11. I don't remember the Technic forum titles having red font and it's a bit unfriendly for my eyes. After clicking on several other categories, it appears Technic may be the only with red, as the rest seem normal blue font. What happened?
  12. I really wanted to, but I still have some difficulties with larger (technic) sets that have instructions. Lego system (is it still called that?) would not be an issue.
  13. The last time I looked there weren't any instructions for the model, just lots of pictures of the various building stages. You might be able to build from those if you're really skilled at Technic, but it's not quite the same as instructions.
  14. Those don't look anything like the tires that Lego makes, so no they are not the ones you are thinking of.
  15. Awesome. I'm looking forward to beginning the process of gathering parts.
  16. That's a nice touch. Great job!
  17. What is the difference between what is referred to as a C-Model and a D-Model? Technic sets often have an A & B model and I thought a C-model was a fan created alternate option, which leaves me wondering what D-model is. For instance, I'm pretty sure the Duck model I found online that is built using only parts from 42040 is considered a C-model. (Fun model to build, though one of the 12 tooth gears doesn't like to stay put for long)
  18. Very nice. The attachments are a excellent touch. The body would almost work if you recreated it into a Quadtrac.
  19. Nice, but you forgot to tell us about Jabba's specialty pizzas.
  20. Dang. Those prices make it an easy buy. The lowest price in the USA that I've found is still $274 (MSRP $279). Still, I keep hoping to find a slightly better deal.
  21. There was a store on BrickLink that was selling Lepin sets for a day or so. I think it was a 0 fb seller from Russia. I'm certain these parts will end up on BL. It's just a matter of time, even if Lepin goes away another will take their place.
  22. Just something for you to consider when working with a large wanted list. I've found that collecting around 75% of the parts for a large project often only accounts for 25-30% of the total cost. There generally comes a point when you can only get a very small number of parts per shop and shipping gets expensive. In addition, I've never pieced together a set and come out ahead, as far as, money is concerned. The only advantage is that you don't have to come up with the full cost all at once, if you have a Lego budget.
  23. Very nice moc. For some reason, I thought the white section near the rear of the suv was going to lift up. Sort of like a convertible car would.
  24. I just took some of it apart to access that changeover and it appeared to have been assembled correctly. Nevertheless, I disassembled and reassembled as shown and now it seems to work. I'm not sure what went wrong before, but thank you for trying to help. Maybe it's possible to put the dk. gray changeover on the white piece wrong and it doesn't function as it should.
