  1. Since this feature is available in Boost already I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be added to the Powered Up app as well with time. If someone has questions/doubts about the development path and the future of Powered Up, I suggest to watch the interview I made with the app's product owner. I don't say "everything is awesome" and PU is already where it is supposed to be, I think TLG's biggest mistake was not starting the development a few years earlier and I think the whole project still has less resources assigned that it deserves. Apparently there was a decision made in the early days, the development was focusing on two ends of the user spectrum. Simple control profiles were developed for the sets for casual users, and the coding block environment was created for the skilled ones who are familiar with coding, leaving the majority of the MOCers who want customization but don't like coding without a proper solution. Of course we are free to moan about this, but the team is aware and focusing the development to provide a proper solution. Customizable interfaces are coming, proper servo control is coming. A few years ago when we only had PF everyone was complaining about the lack of a modern solution and was praising BuWizz and SBrick for their app-focused innovations. Now that we have it in an official form I see a lot of people complaining to have the good old PF system back because PU is app-based. PF is still available for everyone if a simple solution is needed, I'm happy to see an alternative approach that has much more potential that the old system had.
  2. I'm just wondering what's "bad" in PU and what was not possible to do with it that you could perform with SBrick & PF.
  3. Yes I thought about that as the gold rims does not really match some of the colors, but if I started to play with that one as well I could quickly end up with too many variations :)
  4. A few thoughts about the prototypes found in the instructions and playing a little bit with the colors :)
  5. @allanp based on the interview I'm sure they've been working on these things already for quite a while, but the release schedule of the app and other priorities make things slow. Customizable controls are coming and the servo block as well. although probably not in a single update. The latest release of the app was last week or the week before if I recall correctly, that was related to the new Haunted house set so that did not include the servo upgrade yet. I expect an interesting update to come in a week or so. Btw I don't think they'll fundamentally change the code-block approach in the app, but I think they realize the need to have a mid-level interface for folks who want a certain level of customization but who are not into coding at all. I expect this to come in the form of built-in composite blocks where a single task (e.g. servo calibration or control) can be added easily with minimal "coding".
  6. Then why should we care about the PU motors and their control possibilities (and prices) if the work can be done with a dirt cheap PF M motor and PF IR control?
  7. Which is a totally appropriate high-tech solution in a situation where the hardware would be capable and we are talking about app control I'm not saying the prices of the individual motors are justified, I agree with the @hjxbf about the possible reasons. I just don't like to see the praising of the BuWizz app when it is simply not supporting fully either the PU hardware yet. It has undoubtedly more customization options than the PU app currently, but from another perspective it is still less capable.
  8. Just had a quick look on rebrickable, the PU L motor is used in 15 MOCs and out of that 10 is some sort of car. They definitely need proper return to center steering.
  9. Except for the lack of steering, which makes it still useless for anything that requires a servo.
  10. Exactly my thoughts. The app side is not prepared either yet for easy MOCing so that's TLG's way of limiting the usage of the PU parts.
  11. Why would you bother using PU motors then?
  12. Yes, they were placed incorrectly. I'll have a look again when I have time to tear down the car.
  13. It's coming back already, at least for non-Technic sets. The new Haunted house has optional motorization with a PU hub and 2 M motors. I still hope to see something similar for Technic.
  14. Better late then never, here is my review of the set with a detailed demonstration of the building process & the different features:
  15. If it is a coincidence, I guess they'll call it "magic" when a Bentley will be released in 2022
  16. I guess Uwe did not want to give an interview so they asked Aurelien, for a non-AFOL media one Technic designer is as good as another one Btw Aurelien never says in the interview that he was the lead designer for the Sián, so I rather trust the official video and the building instructions
  17. You can be sure it'll have the same issue, the difference is consistent and it depends on the part type. Same parts have the same shade, just not all parts have the same shade
  18. Nope, the bars are simple white ones. And this is the 6L variant with the ring so there's no glow in the dark version unfortunately to easily replace them.
  19. Just one short thought for the color vomit discussion - if you managed to survive 42082 then this set will be a relief, just sayin'.
  20. I guess that's why TLG sends review samples to multiple people because we are not the same :) IMHO for the Technic supercar series the packaging is very important, it is very much part of the show. It started with the Porsche, was refined for the Bugatti and I think it is even one step ahead with the Lamborghini. These are display pieces and not really meant to be played so the experience TLG wants to max out is the building process itself, and that starts with the unboxing. Then with the extra details in the instructions, the podcasts and vlogs, the unique code you can use etc. And to answer a previous question about the 42082 vs. 42115, that one is about functionality, this one (and the previous supercars) is about the building experience, that's the extra $$$ you're leaving at the cashier.
  21. Nice lights! It's funny, I was not asked by LEGO but apparently could read their mind about the separate unboxing video The packaging is really special, love it!
  22. Whoever said that the packaging is lame with the car on the back was wrong, very wrong. Very cool unboxing experience:
  23. So that's clearly not a marketing photo from lego.com, do you have the set built already?
  24. Since BC2 can control multiple devices (hubs, BuWizz, SBrick etc) you could do a 2-player setup with 2 controllers and a single smartphone.
  25. After this teaser I already see the avalanche of negative comments if it won't happen to have working lights
