That's clearly a mistake, there's no space for 2 motors inside. Here's a quick test with Power Functions & BuWizz:

A robot monkey playing drums? I'm sure Milan can figure it out -
Gamepads for BrickController 2
kbalage replied to JLiu15's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This specific model from ipegea only works with Android devices. If you want anything for iOS it has to have the MFI (Made for iPhone/Ipad/etc) label. -
Gamepads for BrickController 2
kbalage replied to JLiu15's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
You didn't specify if you're using an Android or iOS device. For Android i have a an ipega PG-9025 controller bought on Amazon 2 years ago for ~ 20 EUR. For iOS I have a Steelseries Nimbus bought on apple.com, that was ~50 EUR but was guaranteed to work with iOS devices. -
[APP] BrickController2
kbalage replied to imurvai's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I was referring to the Rally Car there - the stock Control+ profile has a virtual gearbox that shifts slowly in Automatic mode, therefore the acceleration of the car is very poor. With BC2 there's no such virtual limitation so the car can accelerate at 100% any time.- 1,316 replies

Technic 2020 Set Discussion
kbalage replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'm not sure if it is that bad, especially if the interest in the B models is as low as @Jim said. I think replacing the lame combined models of the pullbacks with decent B models is a better strategy than forcing B models for all sets with a questionable result. If I have a look at the Technic sets from the last years, at least half of the B models felt like "we made something because we had to". Since Milan is the half-official B/C model factory and the alternate models are also very popular on rebrickable, we have a much better selection anyway to choose from. -

I guess TLG had an easy equation to solve and they are acting based on the results - sets sold vs. B model instructions downloaded for the different set categories. As I see well get B models for the cheaper (and) pullback series going forward and no B models for the bigger ones. -
Control+ General Discussion

It would be cool but I don't think so unfortunately, there're no visible controls to regulate speed. -

They should work as 2 integrated Power Functions 8869 Control switches, controlling the 2 outputs of the hub. I published a blog post recently summarizing my thoughts about the new simple Technic hub. -
@Myowntrain if TLG stops to sell them then I'm sure the prices will increase. Until PU won't become a mature and fully usable system I expect a lot of people to stick the PF, but with limited supplies the prices will go up.

Technic 2020 Set Discussion

Yep, this one. -
TLG does not design a battery box for a single model, with this integrated axle hole there won't be a need to provide direct access to the top of the battery box to operate it in the future models. The mechanical switch was working well in the PF era as well, but it was a separate unit, now two of them are integrated in the battery box. I'm not sure why you want to find a workaround just for the sake of being different than the one provided here.

According to the latest official information PF will be discontinued by the end of 2020, meaning you won't be able to buy it from LEGO directly, but will be available elsewhere for several years -
It is important from a design perspective. Adaptation is possible but as far as I know TLG always used a "native" solution in the Technic product line so it's unlikely they change this approach. Because you need to control the direction as well. Also with the integrated axle hole it is possible to simply put the switch outside of the model and connect it to the hub with an axle, just like in the case of this set:
-
The AAA hub is designed for studded sets, it has even dimensions and no pin holes, and it does not provide you with any option for standalone operation. To use a Powered Up battery box without Bluetooth you need to be able to regulate each port individually. The Power Functions battery boxes had only a single output, but you could turn on/off and also change the polarity of that output. That is completely missing from the AAA PU hub since that is designed for remote operation, so a new solution was necessary and that's what you get here.
-
That was already possible since the introduction of the AAA hub & the remote. In the case of this model the dumb hub only provides power and you select the functions with the gearbox switches.
-
The dumb battery box can only be used on it's own, it's like a power source with two 8869 control switches built in. The PU controller requires Bluetooth and that is missing from this battery box (actually that is the main difference between this one and the Technic hub).

I really don't understand why it didn't get a speed regulator (actually 2 of them) like the PF rechargeable battery box, could have been much more useful. -

But the Volvo will have it in LBG as the dashboard :) -
I was hoping to see some sort of speed control for the 2 ports, but I guess it is only an on/off switch for both directions like the PF switch :(

42107 - Ducati Panigale V4R
kbalage replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I don't think it's a very big deal, but of course everyone is free to complain about it at TLG. I noticed the slight difference during building but honestly I wasn't able to take a decent photo of it where it'd be really noticeable, so I decided not to include it in my review. -

@blondasek if you take a closer look, the color of those pieces are the same as the color of the 11214 pieces, and those are also called "red". I think that's a different type of plastic used, a similar situation like the different shade of lime for the same pieces in the Lamborghini set.
