American trucks usually don't have a steering feature at the rear axles: the simplest construction = the best durability. They just lift the axles in tights turns. The only possible option if the middle lift axles are self-steered (self-aligned, also called as "shopping trolley wheels") at a very slight angle. But I don't think TLG made it here. -

And following to its position it is directly connected to the mini Linear Actuator which should lift the axle. I don't know how it is made here but mini just perfectly fits here. -

Oh, yeah! It must have thousand of trans orange 1x1 plates or tiles. Likely, there is a ton of pinholes where we can add them! I imagine how many sellers at Alibaba and EBay markets will appear with LED lightning kits -

4 manual functions (I see more that four!): Steering via HOG Side outriggers deployment Rear outriggers deployment (not sure if sides and rears are synchronized) Tow crane winches (looks they can be controlled separately, otherwise it would be not so easy to keep open both ratchets at the same time) Tow crane rotation (the turntable) 3 pneumatic functions: Tow crane length via the "thin" pneumatic cylinder Tow crane angle via the "thick" pneumatic cylinder Tow "arm" deployment via the "thick" pneumatic cylinder Interesting that the pneumatic switch on the left side changes the pressure between the tow arm deployment and (it is hard to see) something that moves up and down - tow arm angle or rear outriggers. Anyways, it is something pneumatic at the rear, so does it means the 4th cylinder? I would say not the 3rd but 1st rear axle. Added: I have double-checked the photos: The tow arm (which holds the towed vehicle wheels) deploys (unfolds) via the pneumatic cylinder but raises via two linear actuators - they mounted with Light Bluish Gary axle with red bush at the sides. -
42126 - Ford F150 Raptor
Void_S replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Well, the smaller scale does not deny an absence of the gearbox unfortunately... Big and smaller Porsche 911 have shown us "maxi" and "mini" editions of the same model. -
Well, it was a joke actually. There were some years when LEGO used only blue parts for seats in Technic models, so it became a kind of stereotype to have blue seats I only regret the new busses have a driven and fixed rearmost (the 3rd) axle. Personally, I loved the steering geometry of old busses with non-driven steered 3rd axle that perfectly followed the tracks of the front axles. But it had so many disadvantages to be used in modern vehicles.

OMG! That looks fanatstic alrady! Can't wait for the final result! As for the interior - it has so many seats and no one is blue? It looks like the first model with so many non-blue seats

Ohhh, that's too good to be true I afraid... So far it remains to have the same price as 42128 (Tow Truck) which looks so promising, so this one should so on. I really hope. -

Relatively rare pars comes cheaper I guess. Here is a new 2021 set: Added: I wish there was one more set, a snow sweeper with a worm made of multiple orange rotary changeover clutches.- 5,466 replies

Well, I would say it lost its 8880-ish look now. I wouldn't make the hood so solid-flat. Maybe a bigger hole in the center? Additionally, I would change the rear 3/4 parts (after the doors) - they may be more solid (made of bigger panels). Or, much better, I would highlight the air intales shape by making them more "angry".

Efferman's Custom Parts

For non-powered it would make sense to lower the upper "beam". I will make the axle more compact and simplify the suspension and frame geometry above the axle. -
42128 - Heavy-Duty Tow Truck
Void_S replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Wow, that looks extremely close to the "preview image" of he set! orange "body" with white upper "cover" and blue accent lines and tow cranes. remarkable "Peterbilt" headlights mounted to the grill sleeper "flat-top" cabin which is not so common among the tow trucks huge exhaust pipes right behind the cabin (actually between the cabin and sleeper) gray "warning-lights" bar tridem rear axles with lift-pusher 1st axle. Interesting that now "too wide" technic 49.5 wheels are perfectly replicate heavy-duty front tires (which are up to 1.5 wider than normal tires and able to carry impressive weights). I think this image may just got a well-known red-squared logo in the top-left corner to be the 42128 set image -

I just connected them to each other to see how they compresses - which one will start compress earlier, and it was about 50/50. I have a number of yellow ones (some are several years old, some fresh ones) and 4 red ones - and cannot say if reds are stronger. Rather I would say that new ones are stronger while used ones may have some wear which slightly decrease the movement friction.- 5,466 replies
