Mafia Sunset - Day 1: The Beginning
fhomess replied to Tamamono's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
A couple of things have caught my attention so far... first, I agree with those who are suggesting that Alan is scummy. In reviewing his comments, I don't believe him that his comment about voting out those who suggest we work together was just roleplaying. There's nothing else in those comments that suggest he was roleplaying, and no suggestion of sarcasm, either. I think he's flailing, and that makes him a worth target of a vote. Also, based on my reading, I don't see people stating their voting intentions clearly. Yes, there are a few such as Da Shen, Benito, and Bebe who have come out and said it. But the last time Bernard gave us the vote tally of 5 votes, I didn't count 5 statements that were obvious prior to that. If you're voting and not letting us know your vote intentions publicly, then you're hurting those of us sided with the Malones. Even Abbot's recent "probably voting" for Alan comment isn't much of a commitment. We need to be as clear as possible about our intentions once we commit to them. -
Mafia Sunset - Day 1: The Beginning

There needs to be more discussion here from a variety of people. It seems like it's mostly down to Da Shen and Tiffany attacking Alan and Bebe. The odd thing about it is that Bebe hasn't really tried to distance herself from Alan so much as point out why Alan's behavior isn't necessarily scummy. At least, that's what I've read into it so far. I think the strongest conclusion to draw so far is that Da Shen and Tiffany are not both likely to be traitors. I don't think they'd be teaming up in this way so early if they were. In terms of being able to analyze the vote, we may not be able to publicly state who we're voting for today, but it looks as though we can say who we voted for yesterday. So we ought to be able to at least partially recreate the vote tallies in retrospect. Sure, we'll lose at least one vote, but I propose that we make some go of it. Some will most likely end up lying, and there won't be a way to prove it one way or another, but it will give us a way to hold people accountable for what they say. -

Traitors!? I tell ya, Bernie, if you've invited a bunch of traitors here with us then you've clearly not done you're homework! -

Mafia After Dark - Epilogue: Sunset
fhomess replied to Tamamono's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Aw, heck... I think I'll have time for this and it sounds intriguing enough... 1. What is your mafia experience here on EB? How about other sites? Mostly losing. 2. What do you think of your performance in EB Mafia so far? What are your strengths and weakness? What do you want to improve? My strength is vote pattern analysis (doh!). 3. What do you think of private voting? Will you abide by the rules and regulations I set out for it? When I was little I had a kitten named White Socks that my dad refused to call anything but Black Body. What a jerk! 4. Have you read Mafia: After Dark? (This does not affect your chances of getting in - I'm just curious). No. I didn't read it during the day time either. -

But you won't be able to hold anyone accountable in that way since you don't know who voted for who. -
Excalibur TNG: Mafia School Conclusion
fhomess replied to Bob's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
All games are a little different depending on the host. EB rules are also rather specific to EB. That said, most of the time, people here refer to the Mafiascum Wiki when looking for general concepts and types of roles you might see.- 47 replies

General Discussion and Announcements

I've been super impressed with the play so far in Invisible Mafia. -
Please tell me there is going to be an appropriately sized evil base for these guys to raid. I'm picturing something on the edge of a swamp with limited ground access that requires amphibious ops and helicopters to break down the defenses so the land based vehicles can make their charge.

On that yellow castle... the front left castle has some crennellations that have a jumper plate with some other part on top of it. What part is that? It almost looks like a steering wheel base without the black wheel. Also, there seems to be a headless puker in the main hallway!

I don't recall getting the board game with my BSB back in the day, either. It's the type of thing I would've played as a kid, and I didn't throw out stuff like that, so I'm pretty certain mine didn't come with one. Fun to see your collection, but I must admit that I find unopened boxes a bit sad. So much potential still untapped!

Oh no! Café 't Hoekje is on fire!

I think you've done a really nice job capturing the architectural style and it's a fine building. Lego translates into it very well, and you've shown how nice it can come out. That said, I hate this style!

It looks to me like it's a 1x1 tile with clip and a small radar dish under it. It's just hard to tell because it's black.

I never use LDD, either. Probably one of the best things I've done is to start out by basing it off of something I've seen in real life. You have to know what you want it to look like in order to build it. That may seem obvious, but it's easy to wander aimlessly if you don't have a specific goal in mind. For example, if I want to build a balcony over a centrally located door that has steps leading up to it, I know that I have to start with a basement or crawl space to accommodate the steps.

I don't think you have it in you to fly under the radar.

Future Castle sets - put your hopes and ideas here
fhomess replied to Alfadas's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I love the idea of multiple factions. A forestmen faction seems to be high on everyone's wish list, and Robin Hood is popular with kids so I just don't see a reason to ignore that idea. I also think that the modularization of a city is a must. Make a series of smaller buildings that each back against a city wall that can then be joined into a greater whole. In terms of thinking along the lines of a castle wave: Small set ideas: Knight on horseback, Palace Guard with small shelter, Joust training set Medium set ideas: Smaller joust set, Armory, Toll bridge crossing, Siege tower (ala 6061), Trebuchet, Castle wall under construction Big set ideas: Castle with tudor influences, Medieval retreat (not a castle, per se), Medieval port -
I'm not a big Simpsons fan and will be passing on this. While it looks good compared to the original, the house is rather plain and way too big to fit in with City sets. The fig obviously don't go with other Lego, either. Some interesting parts I may have to BL, but that will be about it for me.

Ragnarök Now Redux - Conclusion
fhomess replied to MagPiesRUs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
It wasn't quite that well planned. First, Hinck gave me the impression that you made the final choice of me as the investigation target. I tried pretty hard to play like I would as a townie. I really felt like the idea Jamesn's death was a SK kill to be too easily accepted, but I obviously knew differently. Knowing I was investigated as scum, I needed to push on someone and I felt that if I were town, the person I would trust the least at that point would be the other person that knew Jamesn's role. LegoDad was also a convenient person for me to push on since I knew that my death would clear him whether or not I pushed on him. I also wanted to pick someone that made logical sense from what people knew that I knew. I felt like if I started on someone new, I'd clear a townie that way or rekindle suspicion on Bob or White Fang. It was really the safest person for me to attack. -
I'm a LOTR fan, and enjoyed the books, but am not tremendously into the LOTR Lego line. I have bought a few of the sets as I really love some of the torso prints and they do have good parts in them. However, I really don't have much use for some of the very LOTR specific parts. I'm a yellowist and generally leave the fleshies out of things I build, so that's part of it, but I also am less into the fantasy aspect and more into human v. human. Whether it's castle or LOTR, I generally build the set and let it sit for awhile before I take it apart to build my own thing. I really only keep sets intact in the City line. I'm ok with the current castle line. I'm happy we have it to give us another faction. I think the colors are a bit over the top, although they do look better in real life than in the pictures. I wish Lego would've stuck with Kingdoms, though. Lego castle was at its strongest, IMO, in the late 80's/early 90's when they stuck with factions for several years, opting to supplement them rather than coming up with a new pair of conflicting groups so quickly. It can be discouraging to start collecting a wave of Green Dragon Knights only to find that the next year they're gone. It makes it hard to build up any sort of cohesive world over time.

They are also clearly not doing a very good job. Lego City has a major crime problem and it seems to me that the primary issue is prisoner retention. Every half witted crook seems capable of escaping from these bungling Barney Fifes.
