Ragnarök Now Redux - Conclusion
fhomess replied to MagPiesRUs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Really a tremendous job hosting, TPRU. The storyline and photography was excellent. I decided that if I ever am to host a game here on EB, I will want to move to New Zealand to take outdoor photographs. They add a ton. The epilogue was great, too, and there were some lovely shots in there as well. Feeling the love from Darkdragon, but WBD? I thought we were friends! I think our scum team played very well together. As def mentioned on the deadboard, none of us were all that concerned about how we won, simply that we did. It made it easy to adjust strategy as the game progressed. I was a bit surprised that I was able to wrangle my way out of the situation with Jamesn for a couple of days until the "investigator" caught me. Still, I found my defence very convincing. I couldn't believe no one bought it! Given that our double night kill was not guaranteed, playing it safe to cement Hinck as the investigator was probably the right thing to do. Ultimately, we got lucky that Hinck targetted Kristel day 1. His role was pretty powerful as a bit of a day role cop with the added bonus of copying the target's action. That it worked out so well on Day 1 really was fortuitous. On the town side, I felt bad for Jamesn who tried to do the right thing but just chose the wrong person to claim to. FWIW, you did a good job of holding back information initially. Dave, I still don't quite understand your plan for Day 1. Overall I appreciated the approach that people took to the game. There was some testiness as always, but I think people backed off when it started to get too personal. I know Scuba rubs a lot of people the wrong way but he does ask legitimate questions and challenge people. That's usually good for town if people can get beyond his delivery. I felt like the town wasn't really talking through various theories, but maybe that was because Hinck had people more confident in the town block than they should've been. -

Ragnarök Now Redux - Day Five

Heh... I actually didn't realize he had told me this, but you're right, he did. Who told you that? It could have only been Lefsi because Jarni was dead by the time we spoke about it and I didn't tell you any such thing. The truth is, Jarni most certainly did NOT tell me who he was going to track. I made a point of suggesting that he coordinate with Lefsi so that they could figure each other out but at no point did he tell me. If Lefsi told you that Jarni shared his night action target with me then that's an outright lie. -

It's called speaking from the point of view of my accusers to point out yet another flaw in the logic. I realize that the entire logic comes down to "we have an investigation result so we're going to put our fingers in our ears and hope we're alive in the morning". Mursi himself admits I haven't been scummy in the least except one tiny thing from yesterday he won't even mention. And I've been talking to him regularly ever since the whole Jarni mess happened. Do I really need to say your "claimed" role? Since everyone's convinced I'm scum, and it's almost certain to me now that you are scum, there's no real point in hiding your role anymore is there? Everyone, Lefsi has claimed to be the town Watcher. To me, that's a more useful role than Jarni's tracker was. All Jarni could do was tell us if someone had a night action by knowing if they left their room at night. A watcher can tell us that by knowing who targeted someone. It's a little indirect, but they can see multiple people if they target the same person. And most importantly, they can identify a killer. If I was scum, would I really have Jarni killed and left Lefsi alive this whole time? That's ridiculous. -

My vote should not be a surprise. Vote: Lefsi Red-Shirt (LegoDad) The fact that Lefsi is still alive should give pause to anyone who really thinks I'm scum. Lefsi's role is more useful to town that Jarni's was. I suppose that's also debatable but that's the way I see it and have seen it this whole time. I have done nothing but act in the town's interest and have been careful not to share any information I had beyond Mursi and Lefsi. -

I can respect feeling that it's the only practical way. Unfortunately, it's wrong. As far as I know, Mursi, Naemr, and Lefsi were discussing things. I assume the investigator and Snotra have been involved. That's five people already, provided the investigator is neither Mursi nor Snotra, and the odds that none of them are scum at this point seems unlikely given the lack of success we've had. If the 2nd "cleared" person is different than those 5 and also invovled, it begs credulity. Given the Jarni situation, I find Lefsi the most suspicious of them all. It's my interpretation of your reaction to Jarni's death in private. When we were discussing the possible ways in which Jarni could have been killed, you immediately agreed the SK option was most likely. If the investigator is not lying (which you conveniently ignore), then I could have been framed because the scum knew I was the investigation target. Whether or not it was you that told them that, I don't know. I have not. I only brought the topic back up yesterday when it became clear that Jarni was NOT killed by the SK. I am trying to get to the truth of the matter. Knowing that I am not scum and that we had a highly suspicious death on the 2nd night, it's natural for me to think you were involved. Seems I was composing after Snotra posted... At any rate, even if you remove him from the core, there's a good chance something is amiss. For everyone to consider: How early did the investigator claim to someone? It's possible the town investigator was killed very early on, but could the scum have known that? Also, who all knew I was the investigation target? -

Ok, so Kolgrima doesn't help us. In some ways that's good as it means that we have, at most, 2 people who might be a "cleared" Godfather: Snotra and mystery person. This doesn't make any sense. The presence of a Godfather has nothing to do with the presence of a framer. They're not mutually exclusive, and are actually somewhat complementary. The Godfather gets an in with the investigator and then his partner frames an investigation. Loki would be delighted. At this point I'm not opposed to lynching the investigator, but those in the know have to decide if that name is worth putting out there. In the absence of that information, and unless Lefsi comes back and tells us who killed Rurik, I think he's going to get my vote today. Based on what you've told me in private, I can only assume he's come back with no useful information. Perhaps he's been lying about his role the whole time and was actually the scum role cop or a scum JOAT. It would explain Jarni's death at the hands of scum. -

WTF! Dagstyrr was town and now there's a bogus scum result on me? Either someone is lying or someone has framed me. It's amazing to me the extent to which people are so quick to dismiss this. Snotra seems to be the only one with any sense of a level head around here. I have worked hard to provide those I trusted with information and to help us move forward in catching the Servants. Right, this is really a big downside for someone who hasn't really done any vote analysis anyway. Nice try, thanks. This is exactly the behavior that you've been calling out people for daily. And you're awfully quick to ignore the possibility that I've been set up somehow. You were very eager to accept the idea that the SK had killed Jarni. Mursi was, too. I did nothing of the sort! I provided my take on things so that you could guide the people you were talking to based on as much information as possible. I never made any effort to be added to the town block or demand that any information be provided in reciprocation. I don't know what you're referring to from yesterday, Mursi, but whatever you've been reading into from then was clearly misguided. This I will agree with. Holding an investigation result until the night has passed is a rational choice. The two obvious ways in which this result could have happened is if the investigator is lying or if I was framed. I know the investigator supposedly cleared Snotra and one other person. Is that person still around? I need to go back and figure out what they did on Day 1. Did they successfully clear someone that's still alive then, too? -
Ragnarök Now Redux - Day Four
fhomess replied to MagPiesRUs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I think the one shot bodyguard claim is rather suspicious given that it was given under duress so I have no issue with Dagstyrr being voted out. His contributions haven't exactly been helpful. Vote: Dagstyrr the Fool (Darkdragon) That said, I really feel like we need to revisit the most suspicious thing that's happened here: Jarni's death. Now that it's fairly clear that Jarni was not killed by the SK, it's looking like it really was a scum kill after all. The only way the scum could've known that Jarni was the Tracker was if Lefsi or I told them, and I certainly didn't do that, or if they role copped him. What positive contribution has Lefsi provided? I haven't seen any. He has continued to sheep the rest of the group with his comments today, too. If he was town, then realistically, he ought to be coming after me today in some capacity. He's done nothing of the sort because he knows I'm not scum. I wasn't even in his top 3 suspects. Patrekr is also on my list. Patrekr was rather obviously fishing for Lefsi's role after it became clear that Lefsi isn't vanilla. I can't imagine two scum doing such a thing, so I think that if Lefsi was indeed the leak, then Patrekr is cleared. The chance that Lefsi isn't scum keeps Patrekr on my list. He was actually next on my list after Dufa yesterday because of that behavior, but now that we know more about Jarni's death, Lefsi has jumped to the front. I think it's highly unlikely that neither of them are scum based on both behaviors. -

fhomess replied to MagPiesRUs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Hey, now that's progress! So Dufa being scum clears Naemr in my mind. Wary being the SK clears Snotra and whoever the mystery person cleared yesterday was (not Rurik). Mursi is basically cleared now, too, based on his attacks on Dufa. I was a little concerned he might actually be the SK, but that clearly is not the case. I assume that you meant yesterday as in Day 2. I presume that Wary was blocked last night and that is why he wasn't able to enter the hall to kill anyone. Naemr, was Wary your target? -
Ragnarök Now Redux - Nights (Players Only)
fhomess replied to MagPiesRUs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Why so defensive over a simply little thing, Snotra? I merely said you're not beyond suspicion. If anything, your behavior tonight has raised suspicion towards you which was ebbing. You say you're beyond suspicion because you were investigated. You claimed it during the day and Naemr backed up that claim later. Despite your behavior, which as I said earlier can easily be read either way, that claim with the confirmation from someone I currently believe more readily suggested that it's probably legitimate. Tonight, however, you start questioning the person who cleared you. So let's try to look at your suspicion logically and see what we can learn from it. I presume that Rurik was far more suspicious to you than the person that was investigated. Did the investigator give a reason for why they chose who they did instead? When did the investigator tell you about their result on you? -
Ragnarök Now Redux - Nights (Players Only)
fhomess replied to MagPiesRUs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I don't quite get this either. Logic dictates that you're above suspicion? Your behavior certainly doesn't dictate it. Your behavior can pretty much be read either way. You haven't helped us identify a Servant yet. No one can make that claim. Your only claim to be beyond suspicion is an investigator result from an investigator you now suggest is suspicious. If the investigator is suspicious, then all of their results come under suspicion, too. Beyond which, the investigator result was reported as "Not a Servant", so you could still be the SK regardless. Until we know Dufa's alignment, I'm pretty well convinced that none of you are beyond suspicion, at which point that list will only change slightly. -

While everyone's enjoying the unanimity of the lynch today and Snotra's investigation status, I wanted to bring up a couple of things from earlier in the day that I found while reviewing what's gone on. I'd really like to hear from you, Dagstyrr, in terms of what you've found related to the people who have been pushing the lynches. How do you feel about them? You've spoken up several times but have yet to deliver on your plan. While I think the interpretation of Mursi seems logical, the reaction to Dagstyrr and Patrekr is interesting to me. Yes, it's certainly possible that neither is scum, but the fact that both primary candidates were town doesn't really clear them, either. You don't comment on Lefsi as being a part of that group, and of course, you're in there as part of the late lynch party, too. -

Ragnarök Now Redux - Day Three
fhomess replied to MagPiesRUs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
There are a few different ways in which Jarni's death makes perfectly good sense with both of us being town. I'm sure you can think of some of them yourself. In light of that, there is an element of discretion to the situation that makes some sense at this point in time. Chief Mursi is, in my mind at least, more likely to be town than many others here and I have given him my side of the story. The only person confirmed to me is me, but we have to start making some progress here soon. I'm willing to take the risk with Mursi at the moment. If Jarni's death was not related to Lefsi being scum, then I'm convinced that the discretion is worth it. This is pretty much nonsense. Aside from the fact that I'm not scum, consider what you're saying. If we were both scum, then Lefsi wouldn't have bothered to bring the topic up earlier in the day and I wouldn't have jumped in to state that I was in contact with Jarni. We'd have kept everything quiet as neither of us shared what we knew beyond Lefsi, Jarni, and myself until today. I have to say that trying to cast us both as scum has me seriously questioning your allegiances. You don't seem very dedicated to thinking this through properly. -

There's always a reason people claim to anyone. Whether it's related to night actions, a townie read, or simply longing for a friend. I'm not sure sharing the specifics publicly at this point are really in our best interests right now given how poorly we're doing. I have some things I want to discuss behind the scenes before I present more detail. To Canute, here's the quote: I'm not sure what that's going to tell you, though. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he sent the same thing to Lefsi about me. -

Jarni contacted me yesterday and while I assume that Lefsi is talking about me, I don't know if that's accurate as Jarni didn't tell me if he shared with Lefsi that I was in touch with him. I did know that Jarni suspected Lefsi and was in touch with him. I was also aware of Jarni's claimed role, and knew that Lefsi was aware of it, too. The last I heard from Jarni, he was still suspicious of Lefsi even after being in discussion with him and told me Lefsi should be a prime suspect if he (Jarni) died last night. He was concerned that Lefsi was buddying up to him. I had no contact with Lefsi, and at this point, find him highly suspicious for the possible role he played in Jarni's death. -

Not until just before the day ended. With 3 votes shy of a securing lynch on Naemr, I was satisfied to leave my vote with Gofraid. I was pretty disappointed to see that so many refrained from casting a vote at all. -
Ragnarök Now Redux - Day Two
fhomess replied to MagPiesRUs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Ah yes, very well then... I have to say that this day has had some moments but the latter half of the day has been extremely frustrating. The conversation seems strangely limited to a handful of participants. I think the idea of a no lynch in light of Sigrid's departure may not have been the best idea after all if it was going to prevent the type of discussion we're going to need to look back on in future days. This can't be the level of townie participation we get if we're to eliminate the Servants. We've got very little from Dagstyrr again today. I look forward to what she has to say later. Patrekr, earlier you said that that you thought there was still a scum between Naemr, Wilhalm, and Mist. How do you feel about Naemr in light of Wilhalm's claime and Wary's case against him? You suggest Wilhalm target him, so are you saying now you think he's the SK rather than potentially scum? Something about you keeps making me uncomfortable. I poked and you responded reasonably, but then in rereading this comment my fear of you grows again. Is this some form of Danish mind trick and you want us to overlook Naemr? Is he not the droid we're looking for? It seems like you either already had your mind up that you were going to follow Helga's suggestion and are just trying to sound helpful or you're trying to play to our fears and avoid us having more to go on. Do you think Naemr is most likely town? Personally, the more I read through the case against Naemr the more I see merits in it. It's a pretty good case for Day 2, yet you toss it out only because you think he didn't run certain comments by his team? That seems somewhat insulting to Naemr, implying that his team wouldn't let him have his own voice. I'm still uncomfortable with this, too, and you backtracked from it a bit later but as your first reaction, it doesn't sit well. Voting analysis, simply because it doesn't always nab a scum is not meaningless. So for now I will Vote: Gofraid the Foog (Fugazi). I'm certainly not positive on this vote but I think of all the people, Gofraid is the one I'm most afraid is actually scum. That's even over Naemr, who I think has a strong case against him. I've stated some of the other reasons for Gofraid earlier. Rurik and Wary have made some additional comments that I agree with, too. I'll admit that Gofraid has had some well thought out responses, but that's exactly what I would expect from him and it still does not sit right with me. So he's my vote. If Naemr gets close enough to be lynched and I'm back before the day ends, I will switch to him to secure it as I would be comfortable with lynching him today even in light of Sigrid's situation. Maybe this can spur some people on to consider voting as well. If we are to have a no lynch day, then hopefully people will at least freely vote for whoever they think is the scummiest right now. That will give us something to go on for future days. Keeping quiet will not give us anything to go on tomorrow. -

Jarni has been more helpful than when I voted yesterday and I don't have a strong feeling about him anymore. It seems now more like he's trying to help root out scum. You call out Patrekr for his suspicions of Lefsi, but Rurik seemed every bit as concerned about him yesterday. Perhaps Rurik can answer the same question for us as to whether he still has suspicions of Lefsi. -

I'm not opposed to forgoing the lynch in the event of Sigrid's departure but we then need to have people be active in weighing in on what's going on. We'd have even less to go on with some folks like Dagstyrr and Baulf if they hadn't at least voted yesterday. Let's remember that all a psychiatrist clears someone of is being a serial killer. -

I agree that you can group things to say whatever you want them to, but Wary's right. You have to analyze at some level. Voting analysis is a perfectly reasonable place to start from when looking for people to analyze more closely. I'm glad to hear I'm wrong because you know you're town. How likely do you think it is that none of those final 6 voters were scum? Which of the remaining 4 would be scummiest in your opinion and why? I didn't see a need to disguise simple bandwagoning at that point. I can respect the alternate viewpoint, but I don't particularly agree with it. Apparently I'm in the minority on that. I'm just trying to understand you, Snotra. Angry housewives with rolling pins have never been my type. Of all the ladies in this place, I'm left with you, Helga, and Sigrid. The pickings are slim. I do agree that Sigrid is known for this behavior and that it's not helping in the least. -

Sorry, but your most recent comments prior to this one stuck me as somewhat contradictory. You voted for Wilhalm who was mostly inactive and being ignored for metagamey reasons until he bothered to post something, then complained about people metagaming. No, I'm just making an observation about human nature. I have, thank you. You should have noticed that in my previous comments. I will vote when I wish to. It sounds like you think Dufa is scum either way. Is that accurate? Is that your better course of action? Is there someone else you think is scummier?
