LEPIN brings out Monster Fighters HAUNTED HOUSE (16007)
PicnicBasketSam replied to ericb's topic in Community
That's a picture of the real Emerald Night, I think... although the minifigs are clearly terrifying clones. -
Surprisingly Underused Pieces

The canopy from the Robo Attack set from 2009... it's kind of egg-shaped. I've never seen it anywhere else, and it seems like it could be quite useful for, say, submarines. Or Ninjago sets... they do all sorts of bizarre things with canopies anyway, it wouldn't surprise me if they worked it in somehow. -

850 supporters in 2 days! Jason should put more stuff on LEGO Ideas, he makes really original and awesome stuff. EDIT: Thanks Blondie-Wan, I knew about the Maze but not the others. Huh. Can't wait to see this get made, it seems like the exact sort of thing the Ideas people are looking for. -

Or Cinderella for that matter... everyone seems to have forgotten about it. Ah well. They can remake crappy movies all they like, but come on, anything nominated for Best Picture that is actually still watched doesn't need a new version. -
Nexo Knights 2017 Rumors and Discussion
PicnicBasketSam replied to DraikNova's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Ahhhh, so that's what "Action" means. Rather obvious in hindsight. Great catch, DraikNova! Hope the heads look, you know, not-creepy. Not having to look human will probably help.- 16 replies

I really like the crossbow. Might have to use that design on a mech sometime...

Rise of the Planet of the Apes. That was a really awesome movie... as stupid as the people were, still awesome. On to the sequel! -

Oh. That's definitely in the wrong place. Um, how did nobody in the approval board catch that it's a Haunted House with all of the Haunted parts replaced?! I mean, if it was posted here as a revamp of the original, nobody would complain, but this guy is trying to pass a modified official design as HIS OWN creation. Also: NO! https://ideas.lego.com/projects/151996 -
A mini-doll rant by a mini-doll fan
PicnicBasketSam replied to Soupperson1's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I don't particularly follow the gender politics about this stuff... my main complaint about minidolls is how un-functional they seem compared to minifigures, really, but they should totally put more female characters in Nexo Knights. I know the main draw to many kids is how the SET looks, not who's in it, mostly... unless Superheroes or Star Wars, too much of the time... I mean, I don't care about the characters of Nexo Knights, all the heroes seem pretty interchangeable, but the awesome vehicles seem like they would be more important to someone who doesn't watch the show or something. However, if they did an evenly balanced Exo Force reboot with minidolls, I'd be totally fine with that. They look more manga-like if decorated properly, and the pilot of a Humongous Mecha is much less important than the mecha itself. -

Moving on with modern DC... I watched Man of Steel. Definitely better than Batman v Superman, and the first 20 minutes looked beautiful, but they royally screwed up Jonathan Kent, the last hour or so of fighting was absurdly long and drawn-out, and the story as a whole seemed rushed and poorly written despite being 2.5 hours long. I don't know how much Nolan did for the film, but it seems like Snyder was trying to make a Superman movie in the exact same style as the Dark Knight Saga and failed. Also, on the list of Disney movies I should have seen before now, Lilo & Stitch. It was a strange movie, but very charming, and I loved that they set it in Hawaii. Seems like an uncommon locale for sci-fi movies to explore. Planet of the Apes (2001) the other night... wow, that was not a good movie at all. Mark Wahlberg had no charisma at all, the apes' makeup looked really odd, and the ending made NO SENSE WHATSOEVER. I cannot wait to watch Rise of the Planet of the Apes and cleanse my memory of that boring pile of weird. -
Huh. I don't believe the Clone Wars ever did touch that topic... basically what (we know of) was leftover after Disney cancelled the series is a Darth Maul story arc, another clone story arc, a Ventress/Vos arc that closes off Ventress' story and adds more fuel to Anakin's distrust of the council, and finally an eight-part Grand Finale called "The Siege of Mandalore" that brought the series right up to the beginning of ROTS. That scene did make me go "What?!" when I watched it for the first time...

Which summer sets? Like... all of them? I have built most of them, I've put them on the LEGO.com LDD gallery tagged "officialsets". I would put them here, but it takes so much longer... listen, if you REALLY want them here, I can do that. But... at a time like mid-September when there's nothing else to do LDD-wise.

PicnicBasketSam replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I figured I should probably watch the modern DC films, so today I watched Batman Begins. Wow. That was a thoroughly enjoyable movie. Darker and grittier than I was expecting, but damn it was entertaining... will def. be watching the other two Nolan films before anything else. -

@x105black: There is, in fact, an AT-ST coming out on September 30. So his project has no chance whatsoever with another version of the exact same vehicle on shelves... that's why Elsa's castle didn't pass review, that's why the Helicarrier didn't pass review, and that's why that Disneyland castle uploaded last month has no chance at even gathering enough votes. Also, anothergol doesn't seem to quite grasp what Ideas' main purpose is... it's not for displaying models, it's for persuading LEGO to make someone's idea into a set. If something would make a terrible set, it is therefore a bad idea and certainly doesn't belong on LEGO Ideas. -

EDITED: Oh, that makes much more sense. Thanks The Whisperer! -
Very spiky. I love the skeletal versions of the Skull baddies in front there, that's a cool detail.

Well THAT'S bogus. So are they delaying orders until early September, or what? Also, what do I care, I'm not a VIP nor do I have money.

That Narnia set actually does have a fair bit of thought put into it... walls fold down to make a beach, that's clever... I mean, the build sucks, but it's clearly not someone's first time in LDD. Perhaps there should just be a filter for "anything with that yellow background must pass further inspection," because there's definitely a correlation between that ugly background and bad models. I dunno about a troll, there would be something more obvious about it if that were the case. All of that guy's other projects are similar. I wonder what the story is there... EDIT: Egads, that's awful... is this from the guy who keeps uploading sets of 6 crappy clone build Bionicles? https://ideas.lego.com/projects/151248 It's just a tan box. Would LEGO make something like this, it would be a proper Marvel-style playset. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/150368 -
LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
PicnicBasketSam replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Well, yes, this is so far a disappointing year for Star Wars fans, which is why I stopped bothering with it and moved on to Superheroes and Technic. All of the Rogue One sets are good, and as far as we know, reasonably priced. Most of the first wave this year was rubbish barring ~3-4 sets, and most of the second wave was ludicrously expensive despite being pretty good all round. Except the Star Scavenger. That thing sucks. However, there's great non-75159 stuff coming in October, and some new and interesting stuff in January. So I am not going to write off the entire theme as garbage, I'm going to ignore it for at least a month, when the reviews will start coming in for the Death Star... point being, if nothing happens in the next month besides an official reveal and leaked prelims of the 2017 sets, fine. There's all sorts of other interesting things to do besides moan and complain about one set. -

Makuta the Mask Maker, my version
PicnicBasketSam replied to PrimoUltimo's topic in LEGO Action Figures
It does match small Ekimu very well. I like it! Mask of Control looks a little bit too low down on the torso, but that's no big deal. -
No constraction at all? Not even Star Wars? I thought those were doing well... they were actually getting restocked at stores in my area, unlike the 1H2016 Bionicle sets. Ah well, maybe my Target will bother to carry some more Technic sets this way. They're awfully inconsistent... sometimes they have a lot, sometimes they have a lot of empty shelves with Technic tags, and at Christmastime last year the only Technic set they had was some motorcycle... We can hope something surfaces in summer 2017 or 2018. EDIT: Saw Aanchir's post. Star Wars is better than nothing...

He's being a smartlass and displaying the LEGO logo, which of course is on the front of the box. Of course... clickbait much?
