The Original Concept of Hero Factory
PicnicBasketSam replied to Dr_Chronos's topic in LEGO Action Figures
That concept art looks like it's for an animated movie rather than a toyline. Still... oh, the wasted potential of this stuff... However, if they were to do CCBS Exo Force G2, I'd be all over that.- 26 replies

The best of the worst Lego Ideas
PicnicBasketSam replied to anothergol's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Oh god... my 7 year old brother loves those apps, but they're so very annoying! Oh yeah, and the build sucks epically. Found something awful myself, which isn't LDD, but seems like something a 10-year-old would throw together in 10 minutes from a random pile of pieces: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/151064 -
Part 98567 TOOL BELT, 17 MODULE is broken in LDD. It has a nasty tendency to twist around in impossible ways and render the attachment points unusable. I was attempting to build 76055 today and ran into this problem... there's no way to flex it into, say, a technic half pin from another one 8 studs over and then straighten it out. It'll twist around as previously described. Oh, and when I tried to move the model that employed two of these--the Dentures of Doom--LDD crashed. Didn't stop working or give me an error message, it just closed out of nowhere. I'll see if I can get a picture of this weirdness... Sorry for bad writing, Paint isn't easy to draw in with mouse...

LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
PicnicBasketSam replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Well, sometimes they reveal sets because a picture has just been leaked/set found in a store/what have you, probably because they have the press release/photos/designer video ready and they're like "OK, better reveal this now than have this bad image all over the internet in 12 hours." That's just my guessing, I don't know anything about internal decisions like that... however, if that theory is correct, they might reveal it before September 1 if something else happens first. Seems like the Winter Train was revealed early because of that, when it comes out at the same time as 75159... -
Which Themes Deserve a Reboot?
PicnicBasketSam replied to Lancethecat's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Vikings, Classic Space, and Exo-Force. I may have said this already, but that's all that I want. Hell, even just one of those would be awesome! A CCBS-based Exo Force line would be a suitably different direction to go after Bionicle G2's failure... LEGO, make it happen...- 438 replies

Oh, so that airport truck is gonna be released after all? YES! Boat sounds like fun, that old studded one looks really neat (high praise coming from me, I never liked studded Technic for the most part) so I have high hopes for a modern version! I'm thrilled to see yet more variety among Technic sets.

LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
PicnicBasketSam replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Oh really... I hope it's at least somewhat different. I never liked the design of the first one. And $500 is just ridiculous if it really is something along the lines of last year's Toy Shop, a straight repackaging with some new stuff thrown in. -
I'm not familiar with that second design, but it looks really interesting. Love the cut-out front wings!

LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors
PicnicBasketSam replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Could Zeb (and/or Thrawn) be included in the Phantom Mk 2? This sort of reshuffling has happened before with 75150, which was originally 2 different sets IIRC... and rumors this early are liable to have old, false, or distorted information. An (original version) Phantom set with a proper interior could easily be $40, though... and that's probably pricey enough to put important characters in it... hmm... What does the Phantom Mk 2 look like, anyway? -
Yes, and this is the problem. I really want to like these newer DC movies, but a mix of studio interference and bad filmmaking does not a good movie make. They ought to stop trying to play catch-up to Marvel and do their own thing, which is actually what they were doing up to Batman v Superman...

What was the last movie you watched?
PicnicBasketSam replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Revenge of the Sith, finally. Eh... I actually liked Episode 1 more, believe it or not. Between the ridiculous fight scenes there's just so much sitting and talking (in George Lucas' fantasy version of how people talk), and Hayden Christiansen was only a bit less of a pain. Lots of Palpatine's delivery was unintentionally hilarious, though. Also, Kung Fu Panda 3. Not as good as the other 2, but quite enjoyable nonetheless. -
LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors
PicnicBasketSam replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
This January we got a $60 playset and a $70 vehicle from TFA that weren't really in the trailers. I think it's very probable that this will happen again. -
I'm fine with all this. I really am. I only watched part of the TV series, so if they override it completely for the sake of another fun LEGO movie, that's OK with me.

Yep. I believe red flick-fire missiles only ever came in one SpongeBob set, never figured out why they never used that again...

This guy strikes again: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/150526 ...yeah, no: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/150560 Don't we have enough police sets already without crappy SF vehicles like this? https://ideas.lego.com/projects/149669 Why on earth would anyone buy this one? https://ideas.lego.com/projects/150314 -

So like a smaller Hulkbuster? Awesome. I also have a thing for LEGO flying cars, so I might well get that set if it turns out good.- 5,808 replies

2017 City Sets - Rumours and Discussion
PicnicBasketSam replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in LEGO Town
Holy cow, this remaking is getting out of hand. I might get the pizza van, but that's it. Can't stand Friends vehicles, glad that's City at least. -
Is that all for the winter wave?! *whistles* I am all for Nexo Knights being cut back in favor of this stuff.

LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors
PicnicBasketSam replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yoda's Jedi Starfighter? I knew there would be one of those in this wave, but I wasn't expecting that. :P They'd better throw something else in with it, though, that ship isn't big enough to go for $20 on its own. The regular ones are way oversized, but they really can't use that canopy for this ship and shrink the rest of it. It would look too strange... so, I guess I'll wait for pictures. I'm not going through every 2017 topic, BTW, just for the lists... The Brick Fan has a nice summary of ALL of the 2017 news. -
2017 City Sets - Rumours and Discussion
PicnicBasketSam replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in LEGO Town
Ambulance, eh? Well. I hope that's a full theme. Harbor sounds nice... hope the big set is actually a large thing, the 2006 one had this ginormous boat that's never reappeared. Also, another Container Stacker would be fantastic... that was a 2007 set I really regret missing out on, so a similar thing would be nice. -
LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
PicnicBasketSam replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Wait, what? DISCUSSION of the Force Awakens sets was banned? Wow. I'm glad that Disney is letting up a bit this time. With this constant onslaught of new movies, I wonder how many it'll take for LEGO to just reveal the sets a month or so before they're released. Also, the Death Star comes out for VIPs in a month, and the Winter Train that comes out at the same time has already been found. I wonder why there's no information regarding it... -
Ghostbusters 2016 Reboot discussion
PicnicBasketSam replied to Kaanere's topic in Culture & Multimedia
What I was getting at is that I'm sure there would be a number of people who haven't heard of the original, and would complain that "Hollywood is out of ideas, they're making samurai movies out of westerns," or worse, "How dare they remake a Western into a movie about Asian people! That's racist and horrible and this movie is an insult to my childhood..." if the reaction is anything like what happened to Ghostbusters.- 248 replies

LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
PicnicBasketSam replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The embargo ends on release date again? Really? Some people have to plan ahead for these things... and anyway, don't they put up sets on Shop at Home a few weeks early with a note saying "Coming Soon!"? Clearly this is somebody at Disney who doesn't know how the Internet works. Trying to keep sets secret barely, if ever, actually works... we still know that they exist, we still know what they look like, and [snip]. Disney can make whatever requests they like, the pictures stay there. That leaked picture from a few months back was still circling around on the Internet last week. This is getting more ridiculous than when someone bought the last Hobbit sets at Toys R Us and New Line Cinema viciously demanded that he take down his own photos... [snip] @Chewybricks: Bad idea... -
The best of the worst Lego Ideas
PicnicBasketSam replied to anothergol's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Oh my god, it's hideous! https://ideas.lego.com/projects/149870 Looks even worse than the 2009 version: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/149972 -
In the book Dark Disciple--which I believe is canon, it's based off of unproduced The Clone Wars scripts and came out after the Great EU Purge-- the Jedi Council commissions Quinlan Vos to find Asajj Ventress and work with her to assassinate Count Dooku. Obviously it doesn't work, but when Ventress' training starts to turn Vos all dark-side-y, the council seriously considers having him executed. Keep in mind, this was the best way they had to actually complete the mission, and they are going to have him killed until Ventress herself intervenes. Yeah. The Jedi Council was getting pretty screwed up and shortsighted in their old age.
