You bet! The Disaster Artist, which comes out a week before Star Wars Episode VIII where I live. This movie, on the other hand, is sitting at a comfortably middling 72% on Rotten Tomatoes- however, this is with only about 18 reviews at the time of this writing, so that is likely subject to change.
-
I'm okay with what's in the spoilers too, that's entirely what I was expecting from the trailer and those characters' appearances in the sets to be perfectly honest. This still isn't the movie I'm looking forward to the most this year featuring Dave Franco and a preexisting film or television series though...

Is LEGO entering a Dark Age - or am I?
PicnicBasketSam replied to Hive's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I never really bought into the "Star Wars sets are all overpriced grey wedges made of plates and technic, that people only buy because of the minifigures" argument, because of how many different things you end up with when there are more than 40 Star Wars sets per year, and have been for the past five years. However, the new First Order Star Destroyer does exactly fit that description, which I found kind of amusing. On-topic to this discussion, though, I don't think this is analogous to what happened in 2003 at all. The 'problem' currently being discussed here is that every set that comes out is of an exceptionally high quality, and there are hundreds released every year, making LEGO gobs and gobs of money. Look, I understand that a lot of what comes out isn't to everybody's liking, but with more than 600 sets released in the year 2017, something that comes out is going to appeal to you. -
Seeing the slightly mixed reactions doesn't faze me at all. This is the 4th feature film by these particular animation studios, the second one being Storks... which got very mixed reception, but I personally enjoyed the hell out of. I am willing to bet this movie will be the same way.

LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors
PicnicBasketSam replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
My little bro got 75172 Y-Wing for his birthday, and it's a really excellent model. I've never had any of the previous versions of this ship, but he and I are both thrilled with this. It's really big- possibly the physically largest $60 set I've ever seen- and extremely durable. I was able to drop it from three feet in the air and it suffered no damage. This is also an extremely good-looking set, the cockpit is really slick but the rest of it is greebled to within an inch of its life and it looks phenomenal. Highly recommend this if you don't already have it. -
You do have a point there that we did it differently... and, actually, I could probably use individual errors from my big post of the other Ninjago Movie sets because many of the missing parts are the same. I will put it here in a couple days, likely before I am finished with Episode 8 sets because I haven't made any progress at all on those since I said I was working on them.
-
I finished 70620. Stephan beat me to it by a couple of days and it would be a waste of my time to do that massive error writeup for a duplicate set, so I put it on the official LEGO LDD Gallery instead... I do only have three of the Episode VIII sets left to build, though, I might do one great big post with all 7 of them.
-
That particular story was a result of miscommunication within LEGO itself, as LDD has been updated twice since its publication. I don't believe LEGO designers use the exact same software that they have available, I do know the the alternate-model website they made that was like LEGO Rebrick or Rebuild or something used it and that is why it got updated in March and why the 1x1 brick with 2 studs on a corner got added in February of this year. I certainly hope it gets updated again, 11 months seems like time enough to update it with new parts for this year... I mean, what else could the LDD Team be doing? Does anyone know?

Missing out on this line the first time around is one of my single greatest LEGO regrets. I'm super excited for this, if the sets are good I'll probably buy all of them. I've never gotten all of a wave of sets intentionally, but I would do it for good Harry Potter sets...

Technic 2018 Set Discussion
PicnicBasketSam replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The pictures are so small and potato quality for the fire SUV and catamaran I can't tell really anything going on with them, even down to size. I like the strange compactor a lot, the little racecars are very similar to the Power Racers sets from 2006 or so- pull-back motor with front bumper that pushes something off the car, they're even to the same scale. Not sure if that was intentional or not. I'm intrigued by even just the silhouette of the Mack Truck, and while the ferry is probably along the same lines of the Ocean Explorer which I don't care for all that much, it does look pretty interesting. The rally car... yeesh, there's better be something going on inside that thing, or it's going to be awful. It does really look terrible, with the random blue and white and so many gaps between large panels. I'd have been fine if it was just white, with accents in dark blue or something... that's a color scheme we've gotten a lot of but at least it works well. -

What was the last movie you watched?
PicnicBasketSam replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Since mid-July, I watched the following movies for the first time: War for the Planet of the Apes Dunkirk The Fate of the Furious Passengers A Monster Calls Winter's Tale The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift The Jungle Book (1967) The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl Dunkirk was the best one out of these, but I would also recommend you watch Winter's Tale for the sheer bat-megabloks insanity of the story. -
LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors
PicnicBasketSam replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I saw the review of the Finalizer, and unlike the guy reviewing it, I don't like that set very much at all. I think the outside looks great, aside from stud shooter guns that don't rotate, and the flat bottom... but my god, the inside just looks terrible with the undersides of all those randomly colored plates on the panels, and exposed technic bricks and studs by the barrel. The actual built-up interior parts you're supposed to see do look fine, except for the elevator, but their surroundings are so butt-ugly it kind of ruins the effect. It really irks me that the interior space, the main part of this intended to be played in, is so unfinished-looking and has so little in the way of actual play features (the elevator and stud shooters on the outside? That's all?) for a set as expensive as that one/ -
LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors
PicnicBasketSam replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Changing the topic from endless Falcon speculation and complaining about pricing... I watched j2g's review of the Resistance Transport Pod, and I actually really want that set now. It's very rare to see a Star Wars set with usable interior space beyond a seat for a minifigure, this one has 2 seats, a spot for BB-8 and the figures' weapons, and additional storage compartments, as well as some nice little hidden away shooting functions. And it even looks really nice. I would like to see the rest of this particular variant of the Resistance Troop Transporter, though. I thought that was a really cool ship, and here's 1/3 of a different, and apparently much larger, version. -
Box Office Mojo reports that The Emoji Movie has made $97 million worldwide, against a budget of $50 million.

LEGO Star Wars Pricing Discussion Thread
PicnicBasketSam replied to Forresto's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The 3 biggest sets do indeed have pretty absurd pricing, I agree. 70618 Destiny's Bounty, and all of the modular buildings, have nearly twice as many parts as the Star Destroyer or Heavy Assault Walker and cost about the same. Kylo Ren's TIE Fighter is very high, but it's also in line with the other TIE Fighters of recent years as well as the U-Wing. All of these would need to be pretty heavily discounted for me to consider purchasing them, except the Resistance Transport Pod and the Scout Walker... actually, speaking of which, does anyone know how that thing works? It's also absolutely ridiculous that it costs $270 to get Rey, Finn, BB-8, and Kylo Ren from this wave of sets. That might be even worse than the high prices of all these.- 217 replies

LEGO Nexo Knights 2017 Discussion
PicnicBasketSam replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
If the tiles weren't printed and the packs were $2 I would have picked up a few, but I've got no use for Nexo Powers and those things are pretty expensive for what you actually get. Did anyone really use those things? They look pretty cool as shields, but I never had any interest in playing the game... -
I have downloaded Google Chrome on my computer at long last, so I can get back to doing this again! I'm working on the LEGO Ninjago Movie sets right now, at the time of this posting I've built 5 of them... I'll do one great big post with all of them except Ninjago City. Also, quick question for someone who's a regular contributor to the LDD Official Sets topic: Last time I attempted to do this, with the sets for Batman v. Superman, I was told my screenshots had to be cropped to within a single pixel of the edges of the model. What's the best way to accomplish this?
-
For only $10 more (probably less, actually, since those sets are a year old now) I could buy the Claas and the Volvo excavator and have a much, much better experience AND upwards of a thousand more pieces. I'm rating this 2 stars primarily on value, although the general unfinishedness of the whole thing certainly is a factor. Something else in dark azure would have been great, though.

What was the last movie you watched?
PicnicBasketSam replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
These are the movies I watched since June 8, plus one that I forgot from earlier than that. Wonder Woman Despicable Me 3 Spider-Man Homecoming Lion Jack Reacher: Never Go Back The Red Turtle The Great Wall Fast and Furious 6 Moonrise Kingdom The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor 5 Centimeters Per Second Stranger than Fiction Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) The Cat Returns Cast Away Unbreakable Space Jam Only Yesterday Unbreakable would be my favorite out of all these, probably.
