Oh now that's something new. Really clever engineering on the tilting. Perfect execution.
-
Oh, nice! The locomotive and cars look really great. A big sticker though...
-
Nice. Very nice. It's packed full of details. The cars look great as well. And I see you used the brick bricks for the brick road. Nice touch. I was thinking of doing the same thing.

"automobiles" for train layouts ... 5+ wides?
Man with a hat replied to Ron Dayes's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I guess train width is a matter of choice, but you are right that for the scale range of 1/42-1/45 8 wide is perfect at least for the European trains and to me looks best as well. Personally I do not like the 10 wide trains, but on the American continent trains I believe may be wider in real life anyway so... -
Oh WOW. Those gold wings are brilliant.

Oooh, Nice. Not only long but great cars as well! -
Great design. If only all the parts were available in the right colours...

Impressive indeed. It's a nice big layout. I like the different levels and the bridge. And there are some nice buildings there as well. And I see there is more coming?

It's looking good and I agree with the others about the nose and the height of the carriages.

With those extended platforms it looks much better now. And am I correct that the back (or front/entrance depending on how you look at it) of the station is open? I kind of expected to see more of that part and a nice entrance or so.

"automobiles" for train layouts ... 5+ wides?
Man with a hat replied to Ron Dayes's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Well, there are many opinions around and of course it is obvious that LEGO itself doesn't always have consistent proportions. I try to get close to scale modeling, and in that sense I really love your cars beacuase they would be perfect. And I think trains should be 7 or 8 wide in that sense. But on the other hand sometimes making it true to scale doesn't necessarily mean it looks good as well. And sometimes getting the scale completely wrong results in a beautiful MOC. It's just a matter of taste I guess. -
That's looking good. I really like those brick build windows. It makes it a nice old look and above all they make the proportions of the windows perfect.

[MOCs] Various American Freight Cars II
Man with a hat replied to Commander Wolf's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Those are really nice cars. Good detailing. And I agree with Duq that the caboose seems to have odd proportions.- 7 replies

Childhood Layouts! (Meanwhile, back in 1980-something...)
Man with a hat replied to Jetflap's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Oh. Nice to see your classic lay-outs. I am wondering if I got any photo's of my lay-outs. I had a ''big'' table of I guess it was 1.2 x 1.2 m on which I could put almost all my sets. I had to choose between my train and the airport though because both didn't fit at the samen time. But if I have any photo's they must be in storage. I need to check. -
Nice and very clever design.

Oh, very impressive. A very slick looking locomotive. And did you 3D-print those wheels yourself? They look nice. And those steam deflectors are really great as well. And as always building to scale means making compromises. And in this case the final result is absolutely stunning.
