Thank you very much! Thank you Niku! I was looking for a use for these translucent Nexo Knights bases. I still have a couple of them and they might end up as engines for a space ship or so. Anyway. Their irregular pattern is really ideal for flames. As for Gandalf... that's really an issue. With so many fleshy-tones Minifigs around now and their unique face-prints, it feels like a unsatisfying substitute for me to change them all into yellow. I wish they had never introduced that tone really. So... right now I just refuse to change them. Lets just assume he got some elvish blood or so. Yeah, that explains it! Thank you very much! I actually ran a bit low on dark grey bricks, so I am pretty happy on the result - and positive reactions like your! Thank you! That's really flattering

Long Term Sail Storage (advice, tips, and tricks?)
Littleworlds replied to Lord Valgor's topic in LEGO Pirates
They are cloth, so I would store them in a dark and dry place. In a cupboard or a wardrobe. I follow the simple rule of thumb that I wont store them anywhere where I wont want to be by myself. I would not put them into an airtight plastic bag, just in case any humidity has been left on the sails themselves or inside the bag. -
Raid Zeppelin or Jay's Elemental Dragon?
Littleworlds replied to novareb's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thank you! Well, good old Brickston likes to travel with style -
Very good to see a proper, naturalistic castle. The buildings inside and the interior are very good looking and overall it gives a proper medieval feel. Very credible! I would have maybe added some more structure to the outside walls to prevent too large "flat" areas. Maybe pillars/recesses and/or differently coloured bricks to mimic raw stoneworks... on the other hand - unlike they appear today - medieval castles were covered with plastering, so its actually fine, from that point of view. Anyway: lovely build!

Raid Zeppelin or Jay's Elemental Dragon?
Littleworlds replied to novareb's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I know I'm doing some severe thread-necromancy here, but with Halloween not long ago... Anyway, gasdoc's take on the Raid Zeppelin did quite inspire me when I did my own version of it. You may notice some parallels Please meet the airship "Katherine", modified and owned by the dashing adventurer Leyland Brickston: -
I heartfully agree. As much many of us (me included) would like having a "proper" castle theme again - its simply not about us. We are not the target audience. And the villains offer great material for fantasy-themes. I don't like the builds either, but I got quite a number of their small sets now, mainly for the minifigures, so for me its alright. It could be better, of course. But much, much worse too

This looks really pretty awesome! You can tell how much work went into this. Its a really flawless build with some of the most beautiful landscaping I have ever seen. Just a pity that the build as a whole got broken down. It would suit perfectly as a permanent exhibit for a museum and would really appeal to kids

Looks very good! Its simple at first glance, but very well composed and the skylights do a great job making it look just like in the movie I really like how lighting, colours and the different surface structures work together! Also bonus credits for that little trophy on the right hand side

Hello all! I build these vignettes as both a nod to Classic Castle of the late 80s/early 90s and the 2010 Kingdoms-theme, which features a new take on the old antagonism between the two powers. The sets of the 2010-incarnation weren't great (well, mostly!), but the minifigs were just awesome! Anyway, enough blabla. Lets have a look at the Throne-room of the Dragon Queendom: For the Dragon Knights I had a distinctive, quite archaic look in mind, which pays tribute to the often harsh and inhospitable land they live in. A clear geometry with straight lines and steep slopes to give the impression of the Queen’s throne room being made of large black stones cut into simple shapes. Quite a imposing fortress-like architecture really with inspiration from ancient Babylonian temples and the city of Windhelm from the game Skyrim, with a little bit of Saruman’s throne Room thrown in. I also decided to give it a more asymmetric layout, to make it visually more interesting and slightly unsettling. The fireplace is made from a transparent Nexo Knights minifigure-base and a light brick I got from a Prince of Persia set. It turned out looking quite naturalistic and required no fancy effects added in post-production at all! Meanwhile, at the court of the Lion King: The Lion Kingdom got a more welcoming throne room, which impresses rather by its elaborated decoration than with brutalist geometry. It is in every respect a more conventional setting, with typical medieval decorative elements and a warm colour palette and a quite symmetric layout to emphasize noble rulership, justice and stability. The striped columns are inspired by the throne room of Emperor Charlemagne in the cathedral of Aachen, as my King himself is inspired by the life of the real-life ruler.

There is always some resistance to changes. That's just how humans are wired. Some more, some less All in all I like the new design a lot. New possibilities and devices require the UIs to change. That's just how it is and I don't miss the old style at all. It looks very good, is logic and clear (the colours do a great job separating what belongs separated), is mostly self-explaining and works well on my tables as well as on my PC. A big thank you to everyone involved in the redesign! Great work! -
I was thinking of Skyrim too when seeing the dragon Looks very good! Layout and detailing of the scene is also very impressive, as is the dynamic feel of the fight situation. Also nice how you played with the camera focus. I don't see that often!

[Classic Space/Futuron MOC] Fast Space Cruiser Andromeda
Littleworlds replied to Littleworlds's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
More pictures! Here admiral Takayama is briefing captain McLane on his new mission and appoints him as Captain of the Andromeda. Later on during the photo-shooting at the ships commissioning day: A look at the main engines and the landing gear. Yes, the ship's pilot is a bit of a showoff- 6 replies

[Classic Space/Futuron MOC] Fast Space Cruiser Andromeda
Littleworlds replied to Littleworlds's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Thank you very much! I burned quite a lot of printed computers-pars for that ship, but it seems worth it. It even got a tape-player (not on the picture though, I'm afraid^^) About the glass-parts: I agree. Maybe I'm lucky and find some classic space somewhere. I actually have a 6 studs-wide translucent inverted slope piece in yellow, but I just couldn't integrate it in a way that looked convincing. I would make a nice wide windscreen though. Yes. The landing gear is functional. Very well spotted! I will take some photos of that in front of a white background for clarity. I wanted the ship to be "functional" and found that if I would simply use a display stand, that would be cheating (I used one for the in-flight picture though). The landing gear is rather robust, to carry the weight of the ship without bending parts, and it folds in on the outside of the ship, just like the one on my X-Wing. I will post new pictures of that one too. I was able to make that one less chunky and more starfighter-sized Thank you! The interior took me some time to get it right. First only the captain had a seat. But after receiving protest notes from the crew I changed the layout to the current configuration. Now the only one who doesn't has a seat is the ship's android, but he doesn't needs to sit down, so its ok- 6 replies

Some of you may remember the Vintage Space Memorial I posted a couple months ago. Well, I finally got to take proper pictures of the ship I mentioned in it: the fast space cruiser Andromeda! The ship is loosely based on FX Star Patroller (6931). At least it got a lot of parts from it - and was ironically (and without me even knowing!) build exactly 30 years after the release of the set - quite a happy coincidence. My main goal was building a ship large enough to give it a "proper" space-ship bridge, as you know from TV series like Star Trek. The name of the ship's class is inspired by ther German show Raumpatroullie - Die phantastischen Abenteuer des Raumschiffs Orion (Space Patrol - The fantastic adventures of the space ship Orion), where the designation schneller Raumkreuzer (fast space cruiser), was used. For the future I plan to refit the Andromeda with a small detachable shuttle-craft and improve a few things I am not quite happy with yet. For example I literally ran out of blue bricks! And some more wall-panel computers would be helpful too Anyway. I hope you like my little big spaceship!

I don't believe in collecting, so there you go. I buy Lego for using it!

Very nice scene! I especially like the woodworks on the walls, which make a potentially boring looking part of a interior really interesting, and the book-shelf looks amazing! The characters are also very nicely done and each of them shows personality. Very good For the weapon I would have preferred a regular sabre though and not the big serrated Ninjago-ones.

A very tasteful "upgrade" of one of my favourite LoTR-sets It speaks for its quality that the core-build doesn't needed many changes at all. Good to see though that you got rid of that annoying sauron's-eye action-function! Apart from that: the stream really adds to the scenery. Maybe some more transparent tiles for it? Anyway. Lovely mod!

They look very good. I really like dieselpunk and they hit the nail at the head with their designs!

This looks really interesting to me. Especially since I don't have any modular set yet and the price (at least in UKP) is quite favourable. So this might be a point to start with.

This is perhaps the ideal car to be build in Lego. And it looks beautiful. Amazing work!
