Eurobricks structure, moderating, member involvement and more

This has been discussed many times, both in public and between the staff. We have made the decision that Friends belongs in Town themes and is staying there. -
REVIEW: 71007 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12
Pandora replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
WhiteFang, thank you so very much for this spectacular review. I know how much time and effort you put into making these, and it shows every time. You are the CMF reviewing maestro! This series is much more interesting to me than some of the previous series. I really like the Spooky Girl and Battle Goddess figures, and the torso for the Fairytale Princess is very nice too, but I also like some of the accessories like the pizza and pizza box and Joker with his cards. It's also great that we've seen the 7th mascot in the 12th series of CMFs (and only one of the previous ones was female) as I really like this mini-theme and hope they continue them, but I'd like to see more female versions too (it's only the head, after all!) Once again, thanks for the superb review Fangy!- 156 replies

New Theme Being Announced at New York Comic Con 2014
Pandora replied to Pheonix1604's topic in General LEGO Discussion
As this is isn't necessarily about subjects in Special Themes (and may even be Licensed) I will move this to General Discussion for now. -

Hello PasDeChocolat, your user name makes me sad! I would really recommend not changing the font size of your posts - writing in such a small size can be very difficult to read, and as a result people may skim over what you're saying. The default font size is always recommended. Don't forget to introduce yourself (as you have here) in the proper introductions section that everyone can read: the Hello! My Name is... forum. That way more people can meet you. Congratulations on your little boy and I'm sure I'll see you in the Town forum. -

I wanted to say something about this, off the back of the poll questions. The middle answer is all that we're really striving for - we don't expect perfect English from non-native speakers by any means at all, and there are many native speakers with bad spelling and grammar too, but that's ok as long as they're trying. Plus, typos happen. What we appreciate is someone making an effort - and that includes not using text speak and trying to use capitalisation and punctuation. So spelling and punctuation are important to us to maintain our standards, but we just want people to try their best, and it really is obvious to all of us (not just us Mods) when people are posting in abbreviations, text speak and leet-speak because they just don't care. We (as the staff) have discussed this, as it's something we'd really like to encourage and nurture - feedback on MOCs, MODs and Reviews. We agree that it's indeed very nice to hear that someone likes something, but we're a discussion forum and it doesn't take much to say why you liked/didn't like something and that feedback is more useful for the MOCer/Reviewer. As part of this, we have also discussed possible ways of encouraging this and their feasibility, but haven't yet found a way to make it work. As I mentioned above, we introduced such a thread in the Town forum but it has been little used. I don't think it takes much to PM someone, and would hope that people would feel confident of getting a positive response to suggestions, even if the suggestions aren't taken up. Obviously, a continual flood of suggestions from the same person would be overwhelming, though! All Mods and Admins can see the report (it gets flagged up for all of us). Complicated or contentious reports are often discussed first before someone acts, otherwise obvious problems are dealt with either by whoever is around or by whoever is deemed the most appropriate (especially if it is a very forum-specific report). It's probably worth saying here that we get a lot of reports, which we encourage - we'd much rather have people use the report button than get embroiled in arguments, and often when we step in we do so because of a report or number of reports. I suspect that there might be the view that we just appear out of nowhere to be Moddy, but we don't - we are usually there because one or more people have reported something. As I just mentioned, but it's worth saying again, often borderline or sensitive issues are discussed between the staff prior to action, too. -

We do not discuss individual cases like this as it really isn't fair on the person concerned. -
Member Titles - Questions and Answers
Pandora replied to languages's topic in Forum Information and Help
There is a thread about this just a few lines down. I will merge this with that. Please do check the forum before posting, or use the search function, thank you. Essentially, you cannot write titles, they are given out only by Mods and Admins, at their discretion, and asking for one usually fails. -

I, too, think this is an interesting topic, and like Bonaparte will refrain from saying much until we've had some more feedback, but I will just address one point: In this forum we have the pinned topic "Eurobricks Staff Structure, User Groups and Tags", and we have a further list of all the Admins, Mods, Regulators and others on the main community index ("The Moderating Team"). I would really hope that any member would feel free to PM a Mod or Admin about problems they are having, and I know that many members do, as you have said you've done yourself - more information about staff can often be found on their profile page, too. We have also really tried to improve the 'help' process with the new member section and the new "Help!!!" topic here in the Forum Information forum (which has also been renamed for clarity). In the Town Forum we also tried a "talk to the Town staff" thread in Town - "The Town Square: Talk to the Town Staff" where we welcomed and encouraged feedback, ideas and suggestions, but unfortunately it has been little used. Ok, more than one point. Personally, I'm concerned you'd be wary about posting this topic, and that you thought it might be locked or that you would be "told off". Your post is polite, mature and thoughtful and I doubt any of the Mods here would have a problem with it. These are the kinds of discussions we welcome, but I'm very worried if you think that we would think otherwise. -
Nyx looks sideways at Deborah and mutters "Innocent is the operative word there" but keeps her voice down, not wishing to start an argument. More breezily she replies to Daneeka "Well, unless you've got a shop down here, I guess I'm ready too. Ellaria, I wonder if you'd be able to have a snooze whilst we dig and maybe recharge some of your Ether?"
-
Nyx arches an eyebrow. "Neat trick." She nods with approval and wonders if they truly have seen the last of Posco, although keeps that thought to herself. She pockets the gold and looks around for the discarded amulet for further examination. "Baron, I suspect you're about to start shouting at us. Before you do, just remember what Posco's last words to you were."
-
Nyx whispers back to Hybros with a wry smile "How could I possibly forget? Haha, I must say I haven't missed having a variety of multicoloured assassins around." With a deep sigh she addresses the assembled parties. "We seem to be at a bit of an impasse. We need to get past these assassiny gentlemen to dig, and digging is why we're here - if we can't do that then we might as well go home and get drunk. I have no desire to fight these assassins; thanks to our lovely little minoid it seems clear to me that we could do very badly with a little bad luck, and bad luck never seems to be far away. Posco made a pact, he has a responsibility. Shying away from that responsibility leaves this community in danger, us at risk of being maimed (and poor) and Posco probably dead anyway. He knew what he was doing when he transacted the oath with the assassins, he is not an innocent here, are you Posco?" Nyx glares at Posco ferociously.

Another quote from the Site Guidelines: You have made it quite clear you don't agree with the politics, that stance does not need to be repeated. Continuing in this vein is distinctly unhelpful when Brickdoctor has already said this should not become a political debate. Additionally, please don't argue with staff when a decision has been made. Please consider this a warning, thank you.

Nyx shoots a fierce look at the man in the big hat. "You demand?? Are you going to stamp your little foot as well?" Nyx holds back from launching a verbal assault, but her displeasure is evident "Hybros, you know more about this mess than any of us. I will do as you ask. Because I know you will actually ask."

Hi Brett S, welcome to Eurobricks. Unfortunately, most of the people in this New Member section are just passing through (as you will be as you make more posts), so you may not get a response from anyone but me (and you might have moved out by the time someone else posts). I'm afraid I don't have an answer to your question, but I am pretty sure that there will be plenty of people in the LDD forum who will be able to provide you with some sort of answer. I would strongly suggest asking your question in our LDD forum. Best of luck. -
Nyx casually moves next to Hybros. "Ellaria has a point. We have things to do, and surely more assassins will still be after you even if we stop the ones in front of us, as Hybros says. I'm always up for a good fight, but right now this just seems a bit of a distraction. So what do you have to say, Posco? Or for that matter, do you have anything to say, assassin?"

Welcome to Eurobricks, YoshiBlockr. Just a note that Eurobricks is not designed to be a platform for advertising your YouTube channel. Additionally, please pay closer attention to your spelling and punctuation and avoid using text speak. We expect full words, in full sentences with appropriate spelling, capitalisation and punctuation. For further information, please read (again, as you should have read them once) the Site Guidelines, links to which are both in my signature and in a tab at the top right of the screen. Thank you. Again, this is not a platform for you to advertise your YouTube channel, so please stop or you and I will have closer words.

"I'm ready to go too. Unless there's something else we should be doing? Or you have more booze?"
-
Just a friendly reminder, as there's been a lot of it recently, please stay on topic in this thread. It's great that there's a friendly atmosphere, but regardless this thread should be for general discussion regarding Heroica only. Thank you.

I've had a look at your permissions, but I can't see what's causing this. Everything seems to be as it should be, but I'll enlist more technical help.
-
"Thank you, gentlemen." Nyx nods and grins, accepting the Mulled Wine and starting to drink it. "I'm sorry you feel we might be stirring up trouble, but a man I believe to be exceptionally intelligent and wise has asked us to undertake this. And who knows whether the things you're concerned about below us will find their own way out in due course? Perhaps it's better to have a few of us around, when it does? If nothing else, you guys can run away while we're being beaten up." Nyx finishes with a wink to make it clear she's joking.
-
"Sewers, yay. " Nyx mutters to herself, observing the manhole. "It is good to meet you, Moke, you are very.. spiffy-looking. I am Nyx." Nyx performs her usual gracious bow.
-
Really glad to see you back again Phred!
-
OoC: Natural respite brings Nyx back to full health please. "Seems like Ennoc isn't much bothered about what we're doing. Either that or he wasn't even watching. Either way... whatever. Deborah, you fought bravely and honourably. I have a better measure of people once I've fought at their side, or in your case, behind you." Nyx grins and accepts the loot from Hybros. "Let's get going."
-
Seeing Deborah's Aura, Nyx steps forward, but otherwise repeats her attack.

OoC: I didn't say it was dead.. Do I get Edgar from that second roll?
